Damien's scorching breath cascaded over my neck, reminiscent of an alpha wolf poised to rip out its prey's throat.
His eyes had transformed into the golden, vertical pupils of a wolf, as if he might shift and tear me apart at any moment.
Blind and terrified, I trembled uncontrollably, desperately trying to push him away.
Seeing my quivering form, Damien suddenly felt a wicked impulse.
"Sera, do I need to focus all my attention on you to keep you from stirring up trouble?"
Damien's expression darkened, as if I were his sworn enemy rather than his intended mate.
He wasn't even bothering to pretend anymore.
My heart clenched in pain, tears streaming down my face as I struggled with all my might.
Yet Damien hummed a cheerful tune.
"Sera, I've been more than good to you!"
"Try giving Lilith a hard time again, and see what happens!"
My nails dug deep into my palms as I stared blankly, croaking out, "Get... get the hell away from me!"
Damien didn't catch it, leaning in to ask, "What was that?"
In the next instant, Lilith let out a soft moan from inside the room, immediately capturing Damien's attention.
With a thud, he carelessly tossed me to the floor.
"Lilith, what's wrong? Are you feeling alright?"
"Alpha, I've got a cramp in my leg.""Maybe that's because you went too hard last night..." Lilith's voice was seductive.
Damien chuckled softly, immediately pulling her calf into his arms and massaging it tenderly.
His fingers caressed her smooth skin, touching far beyond the cramping area, sensually tracing up the curves of her leg.
"Sweet Lilith, next time your leg cramps up and I'm not around, go to Sera. Don't suffer through it alone, okay?"
He fretted, giving detailed instructions, afraid she might feel neglected.
I trembled as I reached for my darkened left eye, dialing the healer for help.
But when the pack's medical team arrived.
Damien simply scooped Lilith up and carried her to the medical team's vehicle.
"Healer, my sister's leg is cramping badly. Please check her out, what's going on?"
The healer's face was full of exasperation at these words: "A cramp warrants calling out the whole team? You're wasting pack resources."
Damien bent down to plant a wet kiss on Lilith, smiling as bright as a spring day.
"Lilith is my precious. Of course I'm worried when something happens to her."
As he spoke, Damien's gaze flickered subtly in my direction.
He thought I would be jealous, devastated, interrogating him about his feelings for Lilith like I used to, my heart torn to shreds. But this time, I could only watch wearily, covering my left eye, as he carried Lilith onto the ambulance.
