As night fell, moonlight bathed the entire restaurant street, casting a silver glow that illuminated every corner.
Yet in that quiet stillness, only Alex Ray stood alone in the middle of the street, his silhouette stark beneath the moonlight—solitary and solemn.
He seemed utterly out of place in this world.
Everyone else was moving according to plan.
Alex looked up. The night sky stretched deep and vast above him, scattered with dimly twinkling stars.
A determined light sparked in his eyes, as if he were declaring his resolve to the endless dark above.
He knew that after tonight, the fate of all Hell's Kitchen would change.
Time felt frozen in that moment—until the faint sound of footsteps broke the silence.
A group of figures dressed in black approached. Their movements were steady, confident. Each step radiated lethal intent as if every stride was a direct challenge to Alex Ray.
Their faces twisted into feral sneers. A murderous gleam burned in their eyes, like demons rising from the depths of hell.
Armed with all manner of deadly weapons, they advanced step by step, a clear intent to kill written on their expressions.
They were the gang coalition's elite assassins—each one exuding deadly intent.
But facing this looming threat, Alex remained composed.
His eyes held calm and poise, as if he had anticipated all of this.
"We're not letting you disturb the residents of Hell's Kitchen. It's been noisy enough lately," Alex said coolly, his voice echoing through the quiet night with quiet force.
In an instant, he triggered his speed force—his body flashing into motion like a bolt of lightning. In a blur, he broke through the assassins' encirclement.
His movements were a blur of agility and strength, each strike hitting like a thunderclap. Before the assassins could react, they were already lying on the ground.
Alex Ray's district sat on the far eastern edge of Hell's Kitchen—a peaceful corner distant from the chaos elsewhere. A quiet sanctuary, for the moment.
He had hoped to enjoy this rare peace, at least for a while—but some things never go as planned.
As he stood there, a sudden roar split the night air—a deafening mechanical howl from above.
Alex looked up. An armored figure was descending from the sky, slowly landing nearby with a metallic thud.
It was a humanoid suit—gleaming with a cold metallic sheen.
"Why are you here, Tony?" Alex asked, curiosity in his voice. He recognized the suit—it was unmistakably one of Tony Stark's creations.
Inside the armor, Tony Stark appeared. His face showed traces of disappointment and wariness. He didn't answer Alex's question at first.
He had expected Alex to be amazed—to react with admiration at the sight of his suit.
But Alex merely asked out of curiosity.
Tony had the strange sensation that Alex could see right through him—even through the steel mask of the armor.
He realized that Alex knew exactly who was inside the suit, and that uneasy feeling lingered.
Whether it was saving Tony from danger in the past or uncovering hidden conspiracies, Alex always seemed too calm. Too insightful.
It made Tony uneasy. For the first time, he felt truly exposed.
He began to see Alex in a new light—as someone unfathomable.
They were allies now, maybe even friends—but deep down, Tony knew: if they ever became enemies, Alex Ray would be the most dangerous adversary of all.
He was like a double-edged sword. He could help Tony out of a crisis—or end him with a single stroke.
That thought made Tony more guarded around him.
He started wondering if he should dig deeper into Alex's past—better understand the man behind the chaos.
But now wasn't the time.
"Dude, how did you know it was me?" Tony asked as he lifted his helmet off. "Don't you think it's cool? This is my invention, my creation. Shouldn't you be shocked? I mean—admire the genius here!"
Alex couldn't help but laugh. "Tony, your narcissism is unrivaled. But yes, the armor is cool. I'll give you that."
Tony grinned. "Of course it is. I'm Tony Stark. My inventions? Always top of the line."
"Yinsen contacted me," he added. "Said you were in trouble. Figured I'd lend a hand—but looks like you've already cleaned up."
"You still haven't answered me—how'd you know it was me in the suit?" Tony pressed.
Alex pointed to the glowing arc reactor on Tony's chest. "Who else walks around with a glowing chest? And who else but you would build a mecha that flashy and red?"
Tony glanced down and smirked. "Come on. This color combo is sleek. Stylish."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "You and Deadpool have the same color scheme. Maybe you should form a duo—he'll be Deadpool, and you'll be Iron Samurai."
Tony made a face. "No, no. Iron Samurai? That's awful. Doesn't suit me at all."
"…Iron Man," he repeated to himself. "Yeah, Iron Man. I like that."
He looked up proudly. "Call me Iron Man from now on."
Watching Tony's grin, Alex was reminded of the confident, witty hero from the movies.
But the real Tony Stark was more complex. His confidence wasn't just bravado—it had kindness beneath it.
"Tony… do you think you are Iron Man?" Alex asked suddenly.
Tony paused, then smiled.
"No. I'm not Iron Man. I'm Tony Stark. Iron Man's just something I built. But I do know this—there's only one Iron Man in the world, and that's me."
Just then, their conversation was interrupted.
A figure approached—an older man, wearing an archaic-looking helmet. His gait was steady, deliberate. He was flanked by a man and a woman.
It was Magneto—leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants. Behind him stood Pyro and Nightcrawler.
Pyro, capable of manipulating flame within a range, always carried a lighter since he couldn't generate fire himself.
Nightcrawler was a teleporting mutant, with the unique ability to detect other mutants.
Magneto addressed Alex with a voice full of charisma and certainty.
"Apologies for interrupting your gathering. I've heard you're a mutant too. Are you interested in joining the Brotherhood of Mutants?"
Alex frowned slightly. "Magneto…?"
Elsewhere, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton were monitoring Alex's activities.
Now, they too noticed Magneto's arrival.
"I didn't expect Magneto to show up in person," Clint said grimly. "If Alex Ray joins the Brotherhood, it'll shift the entire power balance. I need to report to Director Fury."
Natasha watched calmly. "From what we've seen, I doubt Alex would align with Magneto. Still, based on the intel, Alex may not be able to defeat him either."
She smirked faintly. "Maybe they'll weaken each other."
Clint shook his head. "It's not that I'm underestimating Alex—but he's nowhere near Magneto's level."
They both knew Magneto was a near-unstoppable force—able to manipulate magnetic fields with devastating precision. He was either your ally—or your executioner.
