Chapter 160 : The Abandoned Avengers Member

In Hell's Kitchen,

The remaining Avengers also received the emergency alert about the incoming attack from the colossal Nuclear. None of them could believe it—they hadn't expected the federal government to abandon them.

Captain America, though seriously injured, continued struggling to contact Nick Fury.

His voice trembled with confusion and rage, demanding to know why Fury had made such a decision.

But no matter how many times he tried, the call never connected.

He began to suspect that something had gone wrong inside S.H.I.E.L.D.

He glanced at Hawkeye, Natasha, and Dr. Banner—all of whom wore matching expressions of unease and uncertainty.

Hawkeye and Natasha exchanged looks and shook their heads in frustration.

They too had failed to reach Fury. It was clear: they were completely cut off, on their own.

Now, they could only rely on themselves to survive the coming catastrophe.

Dr. Banner sat off to the side, his expression distant, troubled.

He silently contemplated the weight of having to face such a disaster without having resolved his transformation dilemma.

His chest was tight with despair, but he didn't show it. He remained motionless, resigned, awaiting whatever fate had in store.

Seeing this, Steve knew they needed to leave Hell's Kitchen immediately.

He gestured to Hawkeye and Natasha, and the three leaned on each other for support as they slowly made their way out.

They didn't notice, however, that Banner quietly vanished soon after they left.

As they pushed forward through the streets of Hell's Kitchen, they noticed something strange: despite the looming threat of annihilation from the Nuclear , the residents remained calm.

Instead of panicking, they were tidying up the streets in a surprisingly orderly manner, as if nothing had changed.

Steve couldn't help but approach them. "Why aren't you evacuating? Don't you know the Nuclear are real? If they hit, you'll die! You need to get out now!"

He couldn't understand their behavior. Maybe the alert was fake. Still, his conscience wouldn't let him ignore them.

The residents looked up and recognized him—the so-called enemy of the Lord of Hell.

They responded with cold stares. If they had the strength to fight Steve and the others, they would have.

Steve stood awkwardly under their silent rejection.

At that moment, an elderly woman sweeping the street finally spoke up. "Didn't you read the message? That young man, Alex Ray, said it'll be handled. What are we afraid of?"

Steve and the others froze. They hadn't expected such unwavering trust in Alex Ray.

Those weren't just clouds—three Nuclear were bearing down on the city. Did Alex Ray really have that kind of power?

Or was he just trying to calm the people down while secretly escaping?

"You really trust Alex Ray that much? We're talking about a nuclear-scale threat. Why aren't you running?" Steve asked again, baffled.

The old woman glanced at him like he was an idiot. "Run? Where would we run to? Besides, I've met Alex Ray—he wouldn't lie to us. Your federal government couldn't even defeat him."

"You think we should trust your people, the same ones hell-bent on tearing this place down?"

Her words struck a nerve. Steve and Hawkeye fell silent.

They began to question themselves—question the roles they'd played, the judgments they'd made.

Maybe... maybe Alex Ray really could handle it.

Natasha looked like she wanted to speak. She considered suggesting they stay—there wasn't enough time to run anyway—but she held her tongue, afraid to damage Steve's pride.

Elsewhere in Hell's Kitchen, where the X-Men, Magneto, and other mutants had gathered, a suffocating tension hung over them like a storm cloud.

They too had received the emergency alert.

Piotr Rasputin, whose wounds had recently been treated, slammed his fist against the pavement in fury. The resulting tremor made nearby buildings shake.

"I knew it! The federal bastards planned this. They want to wipe out us mutants and Hell's Kitchen in one go!" he roared. His voice quivered with helpless anger, his eyes wide with fear of the unknown.

Logan leaned against a wall, arms crossed, frowning deeply.

He couldn't think of a single way to stop what was coming.

Hank McCoy, the Beast, remained relatively calm. "Perhaps it's a misunderstanding. From what I know, Nick Fury wouldn't act so irrationally. This might not be real."

Though he tried to be reassuring, even he didn't fully trust S.H.I.E.L.D.

Jean Grey, now awake and alert, stepped forward. "If those Nuclear really come, I'll stop them. I can't let them explode."

Her eyes blazed with resolve. She was willing to risk everything.

But Scott Summers watched her nervously. He knew her condition wasn't stable. She couldn't possibly withstand something like this—not again.

His concern deepened. He didn't know what choice to make—or how to protect her.

Everyone turned to Professor X.

He was their beacon of hope, their leader.

But he didn't say a word. He simply sat there in his wheelchair, motionless, as if waiting for something.

Then Magneto broke the silence, speaking in a steady tone. "Why panic? Don't forget whose domain this is. You think it's your turn to die?"

His calm confidence stunned the others.

And then they remembered—this was Alex Ray's territory.

Scott scoffed. "You think this Alex Ray will just sacrifice himself to stop this?"

He had never met Alex Ray and believed the media's portrayal: a selfish tyrant ruling Hell's Kitchen without concern for lives.

Would someone like that really risk himself for others?

Beast added uneasily, "Does Alex Ray even have the strength to stop it? Are we really going to place our hope on a known enemy?"

He didn't know Alex Ray's true power, but relying on him felt like a gamble.

Seeing their doubt, Magneto didn't bother replying. If not for his old friend Charles, these people wouldn't even be worth speaking to.

He had complete faith in Alex Ray. And reality would prove him right.

Soon enough, the threat became real.

Three Nuclear Missiles appeared in the sky above New York, darkening the entire skyline.

Everyone looked up.

Their faces filled with fear... and despair.

The three clouds didn't look natural—they felt like they'd descended from another dimension.

Their scale was incomprehensible, each one radiating a crushing, suffocating pressure.

Just then, a streak of light shot out from the depths of Hell's Kitchen—blazing like lightning across the sky.

It was a figure.

It was Alex Ray.

And he soared skyward like a blazing meteor.
