Chapter 30: The F-Class Beast Horde

White looked at Rice, bursting into laughter. "Rice, you're still as cunning as ever!"

Rice chuckled in return, "In this world, if you're not a bit devious, you'll never survive." He then tapped his forehead with a finger, "Survival depends on this."

Xiao Feng, carrying his black, slender bag, hands in his pockets, stared at Rice. "So, does the captain mean you're willing to take us in?"

Rice patted Xiao Feng's shoulder. "Take you in? How could you say that? The X Mercenary Corps welcomes you with open arms!"

"But we have a few friends who also wish to join the X Mercenary Corps. They're strong fighters as well," Old White added, mentioning Turner and the others.

Rice wiped the blood from his mouth. "Alright, let them come. With your team joining us, our corps' fighting power will surely grow stronger."

"Can I go call them now?" Xiao Feng asked.

"Go ahead. I'll have preparations for a feast. Once you're all here, we'll drink and celebrate!"

Xiao Feng glanced at Rice, whose demeanor had shifted so suddenly that he couldn't fathom his true thoughts. Nevertheless, joining such a large mercenary corps was certainly a good opportunity—after all, hiding here would be safe.

Xiao Feng, still carrying his black bag, turned and headed for the door.

Watching Xiao Feng's slight figure, Rice turned to Old White. "Old White, where did you find this kid? Honestly, he's incredibly strong."

Old White, pulling out a cigarette, handed one to Rice before lighting one for himself. Taking a drag, he said, "He's... my adopted son! Heh."

"Your luck is something else! You married the beautiful Lisa, and now you've ended up with such a formidable son. I must say, I envy you." Rice also lit his cigarette.

Old White gave a bitter smile. "Lisa has left me. Don't mention her."

"What? Lisa left you? Why?"

"Because I made a mistake. I'm trying to make up for it... Ah, you'll understand soon enough. I'm thirsty; could you fetch me some water?"

Xiao Feng, back in the city, used his sharp senses to locate Turner and the others. He brought them all—Turner, Lisa, Alice, Cook, and Bran—to the X Mercenary Corps.

As they entered the mercenary camp and met Rice, introductions were made. They hadn't even begun their feast when suddenly, the loud blare of alarms echoed through the camp.

"Captain! Something's wrong! You need to come to the lookout tower!" a soldier shouted.

Rice, puffing on his cigarette, waved it off. "What's the rush?"

"A pack of beasts is charging at us from the southeast!"

"What? Beasts? Where did they come from? Command the whole corps to prepare for battle!" Rice immediately followed the soldier out of his room and hurried toward the school's water tower. He nimbly climbed up and used a large binocular telescope to scan the southeast. His face went pale when he saw the sight before him—over a hundred Savage Wolves.

These wolves, bathed in the fading glow of the setting sun, moved in a slow, organized march. Unlike the Jungle Magic Wolves, these beasts were much taller, with fur the color of the earth itself. They stood nearly two meters tall—about the same height as Old White or Turner.

Rice's body shuddered. "F-class beasts... over a hundred of them. This is bad. Order the entire corps to enter battle mode and prepare to face the F-class horde!"

A voice cut through the tension, that of the defiant young Xiao Feng. "What's all the fuss about? A few F-class beasts have you trembling like this? Captain Rice, you're really letting me down."

Rice spun around, his eyes fixed on Xiao Feng, who was now assembling a red sniper rifle from his black bag with swift precision.

Rice stared in astonishment as Xiao Feng expertly pieced together a sniper rifle he'd never seen before.

He was entranced by the gun's intimidating crimson body, as though he were gazing at a naked beauty.

"What kind of gun is this? I've never seen anything like it."

Xiao Feng sneered. "There are many things you've never seen. This is called 'Blood Demon,' a sniper rifle I just acquired. Its range? It can reach 2,500 meters!" With those words, Xiao Feng finished assembling the rifle in mere seconds. "When I say 2,500 meters, I mean it can kill a G-class beast at that distance."

Xiao Feng crouched at the edge of the water tower, mounted the rifle, and peered through the scope. He saw the pack of Savage Wolves, slowly running toward them from two kilometers away. They didn't appear to be attacking the city, just passing through.

Xiao Feng carefully adjusted the scope before taking his first shot without hesitation.

The first bullet erupted from the "Blood Demon."

In the scope, Xiao Feng saw the lead wolf collapse as the bullet exploded through its right eye, causing it to fall to the ground, lifeless.

Rice's mouth hung open in disbelief. He quickly grabbed his own binoculars and focused on the fallen wolf, confirming that it would not rise again.

A second shot rang out.

"Bang!" Another long shot from the sniper rifle, and the second wolf collapsed in the same manner, shot through the right eye.

Rice was stunned, his mind reeling from the young man's shooting prowess.

He stared at Xiao Feng, his voice filled with awe. "How... How is your aim so accurate?"

Xiao Feng didn't answer. With practiced ease, he pulled back the bolt and chambered another round. The large brass casing ejected with a sharp clink before falling to the ground.

"Bang!" A third shot rang out, and the bullet pierced the brain of another wolf.

Xiao Feng's face lit up with a smile. "What a magnificent rifle! It's incredible!" Another shot. The fourth wolf dropped to the ground.

The rest of the pack came to an abrupt halt, circling the fallen wolves' bodies, their eyes locked on the X Mercenary Corps' location at the abandoned school.

Another shot rang out. A fifth bullet soared through the air, traveling the full two kilometers before striking another wolf in the head, causing it to collapse.

"Ah-wooo!" A white-furred wolf howled toward the sky, and the rest of the pack joined in, echoing its cry.

The wolf leading the charge, the Alpha, gave a commanding howl, and suddenly, the entire pack surged forward.

Rice, seeing the oncoming horde, shouted into the radio, "Prepare the rocket launchers! Prepare the rocket launchers!"
