Chapter 75: In Search of Xiao Feng

Alyssa watched the soldier raise his rifle toward Old White and cried out desperately, "No! Please don't kill my father!"

The soldier glanced at the panicked girl and gave a wicked grin. "Don't be afraid, little one. Once I've killed your father, you'll come with me, won't you? I'll take care of you—ha!"

Rage surged through Rice, Lin, and the others, yet none dared to move. With automatic rifles trained on them at such close range, even the smallest motion could provoke a storm of bullets that would tear them apart.

Alyssa stared coldly at the soldier who had his gun aimed at Old White's head. Her voice was steady and chilling. "This is your last warning. Do not touch my father."

But the soldier sneered and drove a vicious kick into Old White's chest. "I just did. What are you going to do about it?"

Alyssa slowly raised her hands. "If you won't heed my warning, then don't blame me for what happens next." As the words left her lips, her bio-enhanced eyes gleamed with a lethal intensity.

Had they not seen her expression with their own eyes, no one present would have believed that such deadly fury could radiate from a girl so small and innocent.

An immense wave of psychic force surged through Alyssa's mind. But the backlash on her brain was searing—unbearable pain twisted her expression as she screamed, trembling violently, "Uncle Rice, do it—now!"

The moment her cry rang out, the Alliance soldiers tried to open fire—only to find themselves completely immobilized. It was then that they realized they were up against a powerful psychic—this small girl had seized control of their bodies with her mind alone.

Rice, Lin, Storm, and Old White sprang into motion like a tidal wave of shadows crashing upon the soldiers.

What followed was chaos—shouts, thuds, and the sharp crack of bones. Within five seconds, the fully-armed squad had been utterly defeated, strewn unconscious across the floor.

The soldier who had dared strike Old White was punished the harshest—Old White's fist crashed into his face, flattening his nose in an instant and sending him into merciful unconsciousness.

Alyssa, now pale and shaking, watched the fight end and slumped forward, clutching her head. She had nearly exhausted herself entirely, her powers drained to the brink of collapse.

Old White caught her in his arms. "Alyssa, are you alright?"

She gave him a weak smile. "I'm fine… just so very tired."

Lin, chewing on a toothpick, bent to retrieve an automatic rifle from the floor. Storm and Thunder-Eye each took up a weapon of their own, inspecting them with a soldier's precision.

Lin tossed a rifle to Rice. "We move now. It's time to find Xiao Feng."

Catching the weapon, Rice frowned. "In a city this vast—how exactly do we start looking?"

Lin turned to Thunder-Eye. "It's up to you now."

Thunder-Eye nodded calmly. "Give me a computer, and I'll find him."

Lin glanced toward a nearby Alliance patrol vehicle. "There's bound to be one in that truck. Let's go."

They piled into the vehicle—Old White cradling Alyssa in the back. With a roar, Lin slammed his foot on the gas, the patrol car jerking backward into the street before he shifted gears and sped forward.

True to his word, Thunder-Eye found a military-grade laptop inside. He flipped it open, eyes sparkling with excitement. "Now this… this is beautiful. A genuine Alliance command terminal—what a machine."

He pressed a key, and the monitor blossomed into multiple split screens, each displaying a different live feed.

His fingers began dancing across the keyboard. "First, I'll breach the Alliance military network. Then I'll access Black Whale City's entire surveillance archive—every recording from yesterday to now. Once I have them, I'll run facial recognition against Xiao Feng's profile."

As Thunder-Eye narrated, his hands blurred over the keys. One screen showed a photo of Xiao Feng—young, defiant, and unmistakably himself—while smaller windows flickered with surveillance footage. The system began highlighting human faces, running matches against Xiao Feng's.

Though the feeds flooded the screens in disarray, Thunder-Eye leaned back in the passenger seat, exhaling in satisfaction. "Now we let the system do its work."

Dozens of video snippets played at high speed. Lin drove in circles through the city, while all eyes waited, tense with hope.

Then—ding—a soft alert chimed. One feed froze. A red square blinked rapidly.

Thunder-Eye shouted with triumph, "Got him—he's on this one!"

The team crowded around the screen.

Thunder-Eye enlarged the video, revealing Xiao Feng moving carefully through a shadowed street. The timestamp read just past midnight—precisely the time of his escape from the Alliance facility.

Old White chuckled with pride as he watched the boy's wary gait, the flash of steel from the handcuffs still clamped to his wrist. "That's my boy. Captured and held in the heart of the Alliance's powers—and still, he broke free. What a glorious little bastard!"

Rice grinned. "I told you. Xiao Feng isn't someone they can cage for long. He was bound to get out."

Lin cut in. "Find the location of that footage—where was it taken?"

Thunder-Eye nodded. "On it. I'll trace the coordinates now."

He activated a secondary system, launching a search-and-trace sequence. Frame by frame, Xiao Feng's route began to reveal itself, each clip a step closer.

Watching Thunder-Eye at work, Rice and Old White couldn't help but marvel. The man might be unremarkable at a glance—but behind a keyboard, he was nothing short of sorcery.
