Chapter 146: The Three-Eyed Red Serpent Reappears

Through Xiao Feng's scope, the image of the three-eyed red serpent grew ever clearer. He carefully regulated his breathing, minimizing every movement of his body. The muzzle of the Black Angel rifle remained almost motionless, as if Xiao Feng himself had vanished from the world. Around him, Rush and Lais crouched behind the jeep for cover.

Rush stood resolute at the forefront, a cigarette clenched between his lips, waiting grimly for the monstrous C-grade beast to approach.

Xiao Feng vividly recalled the last encounter when he had blasted out one of the serpent's three eyes. This time, he was determined not to spare the remaining two.

"Boom..." The Black Angel finally unleashed a slender, blazing bullet, streaking directly toward one of the serpent's eyes like a comet.

Without hesitation, Xiao Feng chambered another round and fired again.

The two rounds were separated by nearly hundreds of meters but flew at breakneck speed toward the serpent.

The serpent advanced swiftly, its head swaying side to side. Despite Xiao Feng's impeccable marksmanship, the erratic motion made aiming a near impossibility.

Then, with a sudden snap, the first bullet pierced the serpent's left eye with a muffled pop, while the second narrowly missed its mark.

Cursing under his breath, Xiao Feng lamented, "Damn it, how did I miss?"

"What's wrong?" Rush asked.

"I aimed to blind both its eyes simultaneously, but only hit one."

"Forget it, no big deal. One eye is still something to go by."

Xiao Feng re-locked his aim on the serpent. Enraged by the wound, the creature's fury surged; it quickened its pace and intensified the violent thrashing of its head. Xiao Feng fired three more shots, but none found their target.

He wondered silently if the first hit had been a mere stroke of luck, though he refrained from confessing this to his comrades.

After four futile shots, Xiao Feng lowered the Black Angel, snapped his armored mask down over his face, and drew the black alloy blade from his back. "It's almost here..." he warned, leaping from the jeep.

Rush discarded his half-smoked cigarette and cracked his knuckles, preparing himself. Then came the unmistakable sound of a massive beast crawling upon the earth.

"Bring it on..." Rush growled, unleashing a psionic wave the size of a basketball board. As the serpent emerged, the wave slammed against its raised neck with a thunderous impact, causing the serpent to jerk its head backward.

From ten meters away, Xiao Feng was taken aback—the serpent had thickened to over two meters in girth, standing nearly five to six meters tall with its head raised, as towering as a two-story building.

Roaring in pain and fury, the serpent lunged at Rush, who immediately conjured a psionic defensive barrier. The serpent's massive skull crashed against it with a resounding clang.

Despite its brute force, the serpent failed to shatter Rush's barrier—after all, Rush was an eighth-level psychic.

Raising his right hand, Rush formed a colossal psionic cone, hurling it at the serpent's pale belly.

With a booming impact, the cone pierced ten centimeters into the serpent's hide before losing momentum and dissipating.

Rush, astonished by the serpent's resilience, shouted, "Fuck! It actually blocked my attack! Xiao Feng, didn't you say this was a C-grade monster?"

"I swear, last time I saw it, it was C-grade! But now? I have no idea what level it's at!" Xiao Feng replied urgently.

"No time for talk—get ready to fight!" Rush charged forward, followed closely by Xiao Feng brandishing his alloy blade.

The serpent fixed its gaze on Rush as if he were its sworn nemesis, letting out a deafening roar and snapping its jaws in attack.

A sudden thought struck Xiao Feng, who yelled, "Rush, pry open its mouth!"

Rush hesitated, bellowing, "Are you crazy?!"

While unleashing a barrage of psychic spikes at the serpent, he explained, "Your spikes don't faze its thick scales. The only way to kill it is from inside!"

Watching his spikes merely graze the serpent's armor and inflict superficial wounds, Rush reluctantly conceded Xiao Feng's strategy.

Frowning deeply, he ceased evading and enveloped himself in a powerful psionic aura, forming a protective orb around him. Like a living shell, he braced himself for the serpent's bite, uncertain whether his mental shield could withstand its crushing jaws.

With a thunderous snap, the serpent bit down on Rush's psychic orb.

Yet Rush held firm.

The serpent clenched its venomous fangs, spraying pale green poison down Rush's translucent defense. Without that shield, Rush would have been fatally poisoned.

Seizing the moment, Xiao Feng gripped his alloy blade tightly and dashed toward the gaping maw of the serpent.

Behind the jeep, the others watched the harrowing scene, beads of cold sweat breaking on their brows as Xiao Feng plunged into the serpent's mouth. Their cries of alarm echoed, stunned by his daring.

Enduring the rancid stench, Xiao Feng pressed forward, slipping past the serpent's saliva-slick jaws and throat. Suddenly, his vision was swallowed by darkness...
