Kill Him

After escorting a sorrowful Kelly home, William returned alone to his opulent residence. As Jason's sole heir, he was lavished with the finest luxuries. The moment he stepped inside, the room's lighting adjusted automatically—his home a testament to cutting-edge technology. Even the chandelier responded to his mood, shifting color and brightness accordingly.

Tonight, William's spirits were bleak, casting the room in a dim, bar-like glow.

He uncorked a bottle of whiskey, downing a third in a single gulp, then gasped for breath as he picked up his communicator. He connected to someone and said, "What are you doing now?"

"Getting ready for bed."

"Don't sleep. Come to my place—I have something to discuss."

"Understood..." The line went dead.

William resumed drinking, awaiting his visitor.

Minutes later, the doorbell rang. William opened the door to reveal a shadowed figure.

Glancing briefly, William entered and asked, "What'll you have?"

"Champagne, I suppose."

"Damn it, what man drinks champagne?" William retorted, uncorking another whiskey and handing it over.

As the visitor moved into the muted light, William recognized him—Rush.

Rush poured himself a glass of whiskey. "Young master, what do you need?"

"I want you to kill Xiao Feng."

William's drunken resolve gave no room for doubt as he voiced his demand.

Rush froze. "What?"

"I said, kill Xiao Feng."

Rush shook his head. "I can't. It's not that I don't want to, but I simply cannot kill him."

"You're an eighth-level psychic. You tell me you can't kill him? Who are you trying to fool? Now tell me—how long will it take?"

Rush's tone was anxious and weary. "Yes, I'm an eighth-level psychic, but Xiao Feng's combat prowess far surpasses that. I'm no match. I truly can't do it."

"I don't care. You're on our payroll, so you'll do as the company commands. If you can't handle this, find someone who can. If you say it's impossible, then you'll bear the consequences."

Rush hesitated. "No, wait... young master, why now? Xiao Feng backs the entire X Legion. If they find out we tried to kill him, the consequences would be unimaginable."

William's anger boiled over. "Consequences? What consequences? They're nothing but bandits! I don't care about anything else—I want you to kill Xiao Feng. Now. Are you going to do it or not?" With that, an angry William produced a pistol, pressing the barrel against Rush's forehead.

Rush smiled knowingly; such a weapon was powerless against him. He could easily immobilize the trigger with his psychic will, rendering the gun a mere toy.

His smile held deep meaning. He knew William was beyond reason, so he said, "Fine, fine, I'll do it. But it must be done discreetly. The X Legion cannot know the cause. This requires careful planning..."

"No! One week. One week at most—Xiao Feng must be dead. Or you'll die alongside him. Do you understand? I never want to see that bastard again... Damn it, just seeing his arrogant eyes enrages me... pisses me off..." William shouted, then slammed his half-full whiskey bottle against the wall. The glass shattered with a sharp crash.

Rush nodded silently and swiftly turned to leave.

After closing the door behind him, he cursed under his breath, "Insane... wanting to kill Xiao Feng? I think they're the ones who don't want to live..." Then he took out his communicator and called Xiao Feng.

Descending the stairs, Rush spoke into the phone, "Hey, Xiao Feng, are you asleep?"

"No, just lying down. What's up?"

"Listen, I just left William's place. The bastard's lost it—ordered me to kill you, with a one-week deadline. Of course, I'm not going to do it. So I'm warning you to be on guard. I plan to vanish for a while. Don't show your face. Stay safe..."

Xiao Feng nodded thoughtfully. "William's clearly asking for trouble. Got it. You lay low—I'll handle the rest. But now isn't the time to clash openly with the Victoria Corporation. Still, I won't let William off easy..."

"Right. The rest is on you. I'm out."

"No need to worry. Once I deal with him, I'll contact you. Keep out of sight for now."

"Understood."

Xiao Feng ended the call, reflecting on William's madness. That Rush informed him immediately was a good sign—Rush clearly did not wish to be shackled to Victoria Corporation. William posed no immediate threat; if Xiao Feng wished, he could destroy him effortlessly.

His mind, however, was preoccupied with the recent gains—the missile forces, armored corps, and infantry divisions. If the Alliance counterattacked, these three bases remained vulnerable. Resolving this matter swiftly was paramount.

Restless, Xiao Feng tossed and turned until finally, close to midnight, exhaustion claimed him, and he drifted into a restless slumber.
