Lumberling, a 42-year-old civil engineer, grew numb to the monotonous rhythm of modern life. Hoping to rekindle his sense of wonder, he set out on a solitary nature trip, only to stumble upon an ancient, forgotten pyramid. A strange red light burst forth, killing him instantly… and binding itself to his soul.
Cast adrift in the void, his soul found no rest, until he awoke in the body of a young foot soldier, bleeding and broken on a war-torn battlefield in a world not his own.
Determined not to die again, Lumberling fights to survive in this brutal new realm where knights clash with monsters, kingdoms rise and fall, and mysterious powers shape the fate of nations.
Armed with a strange ability to devour the essence of those he slays, he begins to carve out a new path, one forged by blood, strength, and sheer will.
But power alone may not be enough. In a world where danger lurks in every shadow, and ancient forces stir in the dark, can a lost soul rise above fate… or will he be consumed by the very essence he seeks to control?
This is my first book, but I’ve been a reader like you and have gone through hundreds of stories. So, I’ll answer some of the questions you might be thinking: 1. Yes, it’s a harem—but not in the early chapters. Expect some R18 content and romance later on. 2. No yuri or yaoi. I don’t write or read that stuff. 3. The story's packed with wars, so yeah—expect blood, gore, and violence. 4. Evil MC or good MC? Depends on your perspective. He does whatever benefits him most. 5. OP MC? Not really. But he has a unique skill (as hinted in the title) that gives him an edge. 6. Smart MC? He won’t make dumb choices just to drag the plot. 7. This is gonna be long—expect 1000+ chapters. I plan to blend multiple power systems into one story. Knights, Mages, Cultivation, Gods, Angels, Demons, Monsters, Dungeons, World Travel, and many more. It won’t all show up early, but as the story goes on, it’s gonna get wild. The world will grow huge and expand far beyond the beginning.
This is one of the hidden gems buried beneath Webnovel’s sea of mediocrity. If you skip this, you’re seriously missing out, this novel is peak. At first, it starts off like a typical trope, you expect the usual generic reincarnation with a system. But it’s not. I really like the concept of the status window being just a reflection of the character himself. It’s not an actual system, just a clever tool the author uses to convey growth in a way that’s easy for readers to understand. Then the characters come in, and they feel real. They’re not lifeless NPCs. The emotional depth and interactions are well done. The story build-up is also great. The MC starts with absolutely nothing, then slowly learns, struggles, and grows. He builds an army. The kingdom-building aspect is satisfying. His grinding, development, and progression all feel earned. The pacing and structure are solid. Best of all? No plot armor. No overused clichés. Every win feels like it was paid for in blood, sweat, and sacrifice. As the story goes on, it just keeps getting better. I’m not sure if the early chapters were intentionally written to resemble typical webnovel setups, or if the author simply improved over time, but either way, the deeper you go, the more engaging it becomes.

I really like the way the book starts and the whole concept of the MC reincarnates with literally nothing and is a foot solider cannon fodder in a war and he has to kinda raise his own strength to really beat other cannon fodders to really live. If anyone has another similar story where the MC also starts out weak as a foot soldier and cannon fodder in a war or in the military and has to work his way up the ranks please let me know that would be greatly appreciated I really like those concepts🙏🙏

WARNING ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ DON'T READ THIS YOU WILL GET ADDICTED !!!!
This novel is so good. The mc starts as a weak foot soldier and strives to survive the war he had been thrown into. But he had a skill that allows him to absorb the memories and experiences of those he killed. I like it since the mc actually works hard and just don't rely on that and is pretty street smart. He had strategies and plans, he is also cautious but as the story goes on we will able to see his emotions and thought processes. Especially when he started his kingdom building with monsters, it was wholesome and I enjoyed reading it. Please Author don't drop this book.
Love the story so far, it has a lot of potential with an intelligent MC that thinks outside of the box and doesn't discriminate while staying focused on his goal to get stronger. Plus his cheat ability is something that requires him to put the work in to grow stronger. It does a good job revealing how the MC views and relationships change with his subordinates as they struggle together. I like this world and its power system as well as it has so many possibilities to explore, and I have always loved Western fantasy novels with Knights and magic aspects. Now I am just excited to see the protagonist start charming some beautiful women for his harem in the future lol. Keep up the great work bro! 💯 💯

Great Novel! The story and development from survival to kingdom building was peak! Mc starts from a weak foot soldier and slowly get stronger, then he started building his army from the monsters. The monsters aren't just fools, they act like humans and their development with the mc was wholesome. It was realistic and good read. Please update more frequently, need more of this.
Would recommend this book. So far there's no fml yet, I wonder when would they show up. The story is good, if you like action and weak to strong progression this story is for you. Grammar, quality, and the chapters are okay. Need more updates.
Great book. I rlly enjoy the vibe and the characters. Your writing is amazing too
The story is amazing. The MC got a second chance at life. The MC is a hardworking and strong person. Though I don't read these types of stories but it's amazing. Keep it up! Your book needs more recognition.
honestly this is a breath of fresh air. it has the troupes but it differs to the classics that it doesn't even compare. mc uses bow then masters every weapon, he ends up in a world that sucks to be in, has a system, no eomen or fml yet, its all about the grind for now. i actually need to know more. the length of each chapter is actually on the good side, long but not too long. writing style is good too, not very straining to the eyes. you probably should try reading this one too if i were you!
I hate it. I hate how deeply obsessed I’ve become with this story I hate that I check for updates every day like a maniac I hate that it’s not completed yet and worst of all, I can’t even complain, because the update stability is really good Still, dear author... please... I’m begging you how about uploading 100 chapters a week? No? Okay, okay. That’s a bit much. What about 80? Still no? I understand. Let’s compromise. Just 50? Yes. Fifty. Fifty chapters a week sounds totally reasonable. 😭🙏🏻
