INTERMISSION (2)

In the month of April. I feel like I should maybe just die...

Reason, can't find a single job who's willing to take me in.

I've had good experience so why isn't anyone willing to take me in.

The tournament is probably under way.

Even though I was all, I'll definately not get selected for the next tournament.

I was hoping they'd forget about the weakness or turn a blind eye to it.

But, they didn't and did not even select me.

How... I was so happy when I thought I'd give this iphone to my stepsister but luckily I didn't.

Because, I might need to give it back in perfect condition.

It's been with me for the last 3 Months and I haven't given it to her yet.

Mostly because she went on a College trip 3 Months ago and will be back today.

I am wondering if I should really give it to her or not.

That's the biggest question that's polling in my mind.

So today I went to the Store and asked for a refund.

But he refused, even though the package itself wasn't tampered with or nothing at all happened.

He told me that it's been 6 months so he can pay at most 3/4th prize at which he sold it

That was outright extortion at this point.

I wasn't gonna lose 4 Lakh won for nothing.

So I decided it was a no brainer to just give it back.

So I took it back with me.

And decided it was best to give it to her.

Or maybe I'll keep it, honestly all this shit is kinda their fault.

No... It's really not.

What am I even saying. I'm getting a bit irritated for no reason.

...

"Aah, my lovely daughter is back. How long has it been since I've seen you."

Sei showed up, and put her bag down as she greeted us.

"Mom, step dad, Step brother."

I felt refreshed seeing her.

"Belated happy birthday, Sei."

"Huh? Thanks Step brother..."

I got close to her and gave her present.

She didn't pay attention to the box but the moment she realised that the box was an iPhone box she looked ultra surprised.

She almost did not believe it and almost believed it.

She opened the box and... There was nothing.

She looked a bit sad and disappointed at the same time.

"Haha... Nice joke Step bro."

I than showed her the thing I was hiding.

"Belated happy birthday Sei yeon. I hope you people stay with us for the rest of your lives."

She looked surprised and took it and examined it for a bit but he moment she heard my words she paused for a bit.

Looked at her mom.

I made a suggestion, almost bribing them to stay with us.

"Son? Please stop. Don't-"

My dad asked.

"What's going on here? Dear, I'd like to hear more about this."

She looked a bit angry at my suggestion.

So, she really was going to leave us.

"I'm not trying to bribe you or emotionally blackmail you. I've decided to give up on cricket. I'll work full time. While I'm unable to get any jobs right now. I've been trying for the past 3 Months but..."

"Hey..."

"I've lost something important to me, I can't lose any more things please. Please, you 3 are the most precious things I'd work any hours and give up on anything to make sure I and my dad don't end up being a burden to you. So please."

"Hey, listen to me."

I got down and bowed my head, my entire body was down on the ground.

I was sincere.

If they left, I don't think my dad would be able to live anymore.

I've lost my mom, Who left us than now I list cricket.

I can't lose anything else or else I won't be able to live.

"You gave up? On the one thing you love?"

She looked surprised. She didn't answer my question but was most surprised at what I said.

"This..."

She snatched the iPhone from her daughter.

"You think this isn't enough proof of how your father and you take care of us?"

She looked emotional, almost crying even.

"Why... After losing my husband, you both were the 2 good things that happened to us. If it weren't for your father. I'd be in some ditch giving up on my daughter comitting suicide somewhere. Now? I'm a star in the rising."

"Stepmom..."

"You know what I bought my daughter... This."

It was an iPhone.

Well, your phone hasn't been great and you still got one for your daughter rather than yourself one.

That's enough to say how much of a devoted mother you are, and how well you are trying to rectify your mistakes.

"This... Is mine, this is your father's."

What? Than what about me?

I felt ashamed for even thinking that.

"I... Kinda hated you. Honestly."

"Huh?"

"While everyone was... Working hard to give each other a good life... You were the only one doing part time jobs while playing a sport there was no future in."

You... Thought that?

"If... It weren't for one of my indian Colligues, I'd have never gotten across your matches and wouldn't have seen you play. I've been watching all your matches. Every last one."

"Those small ones and the big ones. What I know for sure is that, You shouldn't give up."

"Stepmom what are you."

"I'll sponser you. I'll give you the money, Go abroad somewhere the game is recognised get a citizenship and play for that country. I'll give you all the money you need."

"Stepmom... That's... Impossible-"

"Shut up, I'll decide if it's possible or not. I don't want someone with talent like you go go to waste. My collogue who's a big cricket fanatic believes you are a true talent and I'll invest any money I have to. Because, I'm your mom and it's my job to help my son prosper."

"Stepmom... It's fine. I, have a weakness that's bad enough that the Korean Association discarded me. There's no way any other country willing to take me in."

"Son... I... Forgot to tell you... There was a mail for you this morning after you went to work."

A letter?

"What kind of letter?"

"It Said KSA"

Ksa? Why does it sound like I've heard of that before...
