Shouldn't You Doubt Your Own Abilities?

Hasan's chest tightened painfully as realization hit him. He ached for himself, but even more so for Nadi's suffering. To spare her further humiliation, he turned abruptly and strode out of the ward. Just before closing the door behind him, he said in a low voice, "Adi, she just underwent surgery and is still weak. If there's any shred of humanity left in you, stop this."

Adi shot back coldly, "Hasan, how I choose to treat my wife is none of your concern. And you, don't covet what doesn't belong to you, or it might cost you dearly."

The tension between them crackled like electricity. This exchange marked an irrevocable fracture in their relationship.

Hasan's spine stiffened. Had Adi seen through his feelings? Panic surged within him, and he fled almost instinctively.

Finally, the door clicked shut. Hasan was gone.

Nadi's tears had already begun streaming down her face.
