You Knew the Truth All Along?

Nadi stood as still as a statue, not a single movement in her body.

After what seemed like forever, her eyelashes fluttered twice, and she stammered, "End-stage stomach cancer? Are you talking about me?"

She attempted to force a smile to look friendly and nonchalant, but she had no idea her lips could feel so heavy.

The caregiver glanced awkwardly at Nadi, whispering with her mouth slightly open, "You didn't know?"

"My stupid mouth!" The caregiver reacted fast, slapping her own mouth quickly, "I was just blabbing nonsense. I mistook you for someone else! Don't take it seriously, just treat it like a random comment!"

The caregiver probably thought she'd caused trouble, "I'll go grab some food. Wait a sec, I'll be back soon!"

Nadi didn't stop her.

Alone, she sat on the hospital bed, silently lost in her thoughts.

She didn't know how much time had passed when Nadi suddenly smiled.

End-stage stomach cancer.

She probably didn't have long left.
