EXPOSITION:



The story begins in the midst of Raven's chaotic life. She’s living in a world that, on the surface, looks just like any other—until it’s not. Raven has recently lost her parents in a mysterious fire, an event that has left her adrift, questioning everything she thought she knew about the world. The tragedy has left her emotionally bruised and seeking escape.



On the eve of her senior year, Raven attends Branden Mitchell’s annual back-to-school party, hoping to forget the crushing weight of her grief. Her best friend, Maddie, is an emotional wreck over her off-again, on-again relationship with Robbie, and Raven’s only goal is to escape reality, even if just for one night.
