Silyne took a deep breath of the freezing air and forced herself to pull out of her messy thoughts. She focused on checking the supplies in front of her.
Clothes, herbs, blankets... all valuable, all good stuff.
But when she and a few other women moved the top layer of clothes and saw the box underneath with a very familiar logo, the air seemed to freeze for a second.
The next moment
"Ahhh!!!"
A sharp scream, filled with surprise, joy, and disbelief, tore through the cold wind.
The women all rushed over at once, hands shaking as they ripped open the edge of one of the boxes.
When they saw what was inside, soft, individually wrapped sanitary pads, their screams got louder and even had a crying tone to them.
"Oh my god, it's real. These are sanitary pads!"
"I'm not dreaming, right?!"
They hugged each other tightly, crying and laughing. It was like they had found the brightest hope in a desperate world, not just a box of women's products.
Red, who was about to leave to handle other tasks, stopped in his tracks when he heard the sudden screaming filled with mixed emotions.
He frowned and looked toward the women hugging in a group, almost losing control from excitement. His face showed pure confusion.
Why are they crying?
Why are they laughing?
It's just some supplies, right?
They've seen supplies before.
What in the world did Celine bring this time?
Questions filled his head. Just as he was about to ask, he saw Silyne speaking quickly to one of the girls beside her.
"Go! Call all the girls over! Go now!"
Call all the women?
Red paused, then suddenly looked like something had burned him. A bit of embarrassment showed on his face.
If this stuff made them that excited and they were calling all the women over, then the box probably had...
He understood right away that he shouldn't stay.
He didn't ask anything else or try to find out what kind of "special" items Celine had brought. He just turned and quickly left the area that was about to become a women-only celebration zone.
Soon after, all the other female survivors who heard the news ran over as fast as they could.
When they saw the boxes filled with brand-new, sealed sanitary pads, their emotions exploded even more than when Silyne and the others first found them.
"Sob sob... I can finally... finally use these again..."
"How long has it been... I can't even remember the last time I saw something this clean…"
They knew exactly what this meant.
Since the world ended, factories stopped working. These items, once easy to find in peaceful times, had become rare and precious luxuries.
To handle their monthly periods, they had to use the most basic and helpless things—rags and ashes from plants.
That caused constant itching, strange smells, and more and more infections.
The pain in their bodies and the stress in their minds became a silent kind of torture that followed every woman during the apocalypse.
Now, looking at the pile of these "luxuries," they were beyond happy.
"Look! There's more! Is that... is that medicine for infections? There's sulfur soap too, and cleaner for underwear!"
Silyne had sharp eyes. While checking through the other supplies, she was excited to find a carefully wrapped set of cleaning and care products, and even a few large boxes of medicine made for treating women's infections.
Right away, the whole group burst into cheers.
"Oh my god! Even this is here!"
"Red... Captain Red is just... too thoughtful!"
A young girl covered her mouth, tears in her eyes. Her voice was filled with deep thanks.
Yes. Who else but Red would think of something like this for them?
Silyne thought the same.
She looked at Red's back as he walked away. The respect and thanks in her heart grew even stronger.
This man, who seemed cold and tough, actually had such care and gentleness inside?
But none of them knew the truth.
The care that gave them comfort and dignity in this cruel world didn't come from that serious and clueless captain.
It came from another time. From a woman. From someone who truly understood their pain and their needs. It came from Celine.
Only women can really understand what other women go through during that time of the month.
Only a woman would cross time and space to help strangers, not asking for anything in return, just to show care for others who were also trying to survive.
But Celine didn't mind the misunderstanding at all.
Right now, she was patiently teaching Hogan, who looked curious but a little confused, how to use modern technology.
"Look here. Tap this icon to play a video... yes, that colorful square."
"This round button is to go back... no, don't pick at it…"
Celine felt like teaching this prince from the Qin dynasty how to use an iPad was even harder than working late at night.
