The orb starts to shake, and cracks start to appear on it; then the orb explodes. The priest looks at Adam, who's standing in the middle of the shards falling to the ground
"Imp-! impossible!" The priest thought as he looked at Adam standing in the middle of the orb, falling shards."How is something like this possible? An orb has never been broken before during a test! Just how much arcane energy does this child possess!?"
"The... He... HE BROKE THE RECORD!!!" Someone yells suddenly
The room fills up with banter full of excitement and surprise. Adam looks around with confusion. He and his "siblings" were the only ones who didn't understand the meaning of the broken orb.
"Do you know what you've just done?" Caesar says to Adam with his same unchanging expression
Adam gulps with nervousness. The priest gets up and approaches the two. He lowers himself and picks up a shard of the orb
"The orb has the power to show the color of one's arcane energy." He starts while staring at the shard he picked up. "But that's not the only thing it can do."
The priest rises
"It can also tell how much arcane energy one has in their body." He continues. "I'm sure you've noticed that every one of those that touched the orb had a different strength in their glow."
Adam's eyes widen
"That's right." Caesar says without a change in expression. "The strength of that glow is the equivalent of the amount of arcane energy one's body holds. The last time something like this happened, the orb had only shown cracks. In other words, it was barely able to quantify the arcane energy of that person, but you... You made the orb explode."
"Which means that my arcane energy is so high that the orb wasn't able to fully quantify it." Adam finishes
The priest and Caesar both look at Adam
"That's right." Caesar says with the same expression
"The orb normally shows 5 levels of radiance." The priest says. "The D-rank, the C-rank, the B-rank, the A-rank, and finally, the S-rank. The one that Caesar talked to you about was determined to have an S+ rank, and you are the same."
The people within the room had kept up their chatter, but suddenly it stopped. Because someone hadn't forgotten the reaction the orb showed before it exploded
-But the color that the orb showed.... wasn't it black? Someone says
The chatter that was full of excitement first stopped, then restarted, but this time, it was question-filled.
"Black? I've never seen or heard of such a color before." A person says
"Could it be a new color?" Another asks
"A new color, huh? All that arcane energy is wasted on that kid." Another says
"Who knows? Maybe that color will have incredible abilities." Another says with excitement
Byron, Neant, and Arlo stare at Adam
"An immeasurable amount of arcane energy and a new arcane color." Neant says while looking at Adam. "Who is this kid?"
"Even if he has a new color, it doesn't mean anything if the abilities of that color aren't up to par." Arlo says with his eyes closed
"That's not all." Noah says as he joins the group. "Since it's a new color, that means that there is no record of it, and that he'll have to discover its abilities all by himself without a guide."
Caesar starts to clap
"Now that the Arcanet is done, I officially declare the party to be over." Caesar says loudly. You can follow the butlers and the maids; they will lead you to the exit
The people start to follow the butlers and maids who are leading them outside of the mansion. The front of the mansion was crowded with limousines, and after a few hours, they were all gone. Later on, in one of the many rooms within the mansion, the air was pretty awkward in the room since all of today's main actors were present. The kids and the adults
"You two were amazing during the duel." Kenzo says with excitement to change the mood
Noah and Adam turn their heads toward Kenzo at the same time
"It wasn't that great." They both say at the same time
The other kids look at both of them with uncomfortable expressions
"You were lucky." Noah says while looking at Adam. "If my last kick had landed, then the duel wouldn't have ended in a draw."
Adam looks at Noah with a frown
"Huh!?" He says with anger
"This is bad." Seleph whispers to Byron
"It really is." Byron replies
"No." Eve says. "You don't understand. No one in this world hates losing as much as Adam does, and for him, there is no such thing as a draw. If he didn't win, then he lost."
Byron, Neant, and Arlo stare at Adam with surprise
"Aren't the two of them a little too similar?" Neant says with an amused tone
"This isn't funny." Arlo says with a worried expression. "If both are sore losers, then that means that this won't be their last fight."
Carla claps her hands together, drawing the attention of everyone
"How about we talk a little bit about the future?" Carla says. "Why are you guys trying to enter the Leo Academy and what do you intend to do after graduating from the Academy?"
"I will join the Black Lion Order." Eve says without a hint of hesitation and with an incredible degree of anger. "I decided to become a Knight so that I can get revenge on the one behind the Blood Moon."
The room goes silent
"I will also join the Black Lion Order." Seleph says with a small smile.
"Do you also want to get revenge?" Caesar asks
Seleph lowers his head
".... I hate monsters. They took my family away from me so obviously I want revenge... but..."
He raises his head and on his face was pure determination
"That's not the reason why I want to join the Black Lion Order." Seleph says with determination. "I want to help make a world in which something like this won't happen again."
Carla takes a sip from her tea with her eyes closed
"You have a very noble goal." She says while putting her cup down
Seleph giggles with embarrassment
"What about you?" Caesar asks Adam who's eating a cookie
Kenzo, Elaine, Eve, and Seleph look at Adam with nervousness.
"I will also join the Black Lion Order." Adam says
"Do you all even know what the Black Lion Order does?" Byron says with incomprehension. "They go outside of the tower to kill Djinns and most of them don't come back alive."
"So, what?" Adam says
"It's true." Caesar says. "The Black Lion Order is the one with the highest number of casualty reports, yet we've barely recovered any land."
"None of that matters to me." Adam says while staring at the snacks on the table. "I was saved by them; so, I need to repay the favor."
"If that's the only reason why you want to join the Black Lion Order then I suggest you don't." Caesar says
"What?" Adam says with a frown of anger
"Those who join the Black Lion Order are usually separated into three categories." Caesar starts explaining. "Those that are like Eve and join because of their hatred for Djinns, those that are like Seleph and join because they want to lower the number of Djinns, and those that want to climb up the ranks as quickly as possible. Of course, some join because they weren't accepted in the other orders."
"What are you trying to say?" Adam asks
"Those that don't belong in the three categories always end up dying." Caesar finishes. "You'll end up dying if you go in that order with only that as a reason."
"We'll see about that." Adam says
Kenzo tries to change the topic as quickly as possible
"How about you four?" He asks to Neant, Arlo, Byron and Noah
"We wanted to join the Golden Lion Order, but that's going to be impossible now." Byron says with his head lowered
"True. They only accept those that have a red or golden arcane energy." Kenzo says. "That's why they are the order with the smallest number of Knights."
Carla looks at the window and notices how dark it is outside.
"It's getting late." She says. "Everybody should go to bed."
The next day, the family of five heads back down to the second floor to meet up with Lana
"The three of you passed with flying colors, huh! "Lana says with excitement
"My Arcanet didn't receive as much attention as yours did. You're even in the news." Nala says as she reads the newspaper. "My arcane color is green, though. Nothing as impressive as you guys."
"Two months, huh." Elaine says while staring at the ceiling. "Two months before you all start your journey at the Academy."
"During those two months, we'll teach you four everything we can. "Kenzo says with a smile. "So, that when you all start the Academy, you will all be at the top of your class."
During those two months, Elaine, Kenzo, and Lana hammered into the kids as much knowledge as possible within the short amount of time they had. Since arcane energy can only be manipulated at the age of ten, Nala was the only one out of the four who had received training on how to handle hers and had already received her letter of acceptance at the Academy. Finally, after they reached ten, the three of them received their letter of acceptance, and were now at the gate of the Academy where a new life was lying in wait for them
"So, it's finally time, huh?" Elaine says while looking at the kid
In front of them was a huge gate with two lions on pillars at the side. On top of the gate was a roaring lion.
"When those gates open and you pass them, you will officially be students of the Academy." Elaine says with a smile. "Graduate as fast as you can!"
The three look at Elaine with confusion, and just as they were about to ask a question, the humongous gate of the Academy opens. Elaine hugs them, and Kenzo joins the group hug. They then let go of them, and the three enter the Academy grounds. When every student enters the Academy grounds, the huge gate closes. Suddenly, a powerful voice resonates throughout the Academy
"ALL RIGHT." The voice calmly starts. "THE LEO ACADEMY ENTRANCE TEST WILL NOW START!"
Eve and Seleph look at Adam
"Entrance test?" Seleph says with confusion
Suddenly, all the kids in the Academy front grounds are engulfed in pillars of light
"WHAT'S GOING ON!?" A student yells
It only took a few seconds for the Academy grounds to be engulfed in panic and yells from the newly admitted students. Adam, unlike the others, remained calm and analyzed the situation
"An entrance test... and what exactly is this light?" Adam thought as he looked around
Just as he was about to reach out of the pillar of light, a pillar of light disappeared alongside the student that was in it.
"WHA- WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?!?" Someone yells
The yells resonating on the grounds slowly disappear one by one as the pillar of lights disappears alongside the student within them. Multiple students tried to get out of the pillars, but failed to do so as the light pushed them back, making it impossible to escape them.
"What is happening?" Adam says in a low tone
Suddenly, a bright light blinds Adam, forcing him to close his eyes. After a few seconds, he opens his eyes
"What is this?" Adam says with a smirk
What he saw when he opened his eyes what was in front of him were trees, bushes, and a few rabbits that passed by him.
"Teleportation, huh?" Adam says while looking around.
Adam looks around with an investigative frown. He then closes his eyes and starts sniffing
"What's this?" He says after opening his eyes. "The air... The air is different."
