Above the vast ocean, Qian Daoliu wielded the Sky-Caliber Sword, clashing relentlessly against Poseisy's Sea God Scepter. Each strike sparked bursts of soul energy, with the sheer power of their blows stirring the surrounding sea for miles around.
Neither of them used soul skills. At the level of an Ultimate Douluo, the configuration of soul rings or soul skills mattered less, because the attacks fueled directly by their immense soul power far surpassed those generated through soul techniques.
For example, Qian Daoliu's first soul skill, Angel Assault, relied on soul energy concentrated in his fist—but even that was weaker than the raw power of a punch charged with his full soul force.
"Sixth Soul Skill—Angel's Roar!"
The sixth soul ring beneath Qian Daoliu glowed brightly. Golden flames flickered from the corners of his eyes, while piercing, high-pitched cries emitted from the angelic soul spirit on his back.
The sonic waves immediately assaulted Poseisy's mind upon contact. This was a mental attack—not something that could be blocked simply by covering her ears. It was a transformation of soul power facilitated by the soul ring, effective against adversaries of any level.
Beneath Poseisy's feet seemed an invisible platform. She slammed the Sea God Scepter against the ground, and the turbulent ocean around them suddenly surged toward her as if alive.
A massive pillar of water shot up, enveloping her in an impenetrable barrier. Qian Daoliu's sonic attack was blocked after penetrating less than a third of the watery shield.
As the water pillar subsided, Poseisy reappeared, completely dry despite the ocean's assault, her soul power rapidly regenerating.
Noticing the confusion in Qian Daoliu's eyes, she said, "This is my soul spirit's ability — to control and absorb the ocean's power for my use."
"I see now. Truly worthy of the Sea God title," Qian Daoliu exclaimed in admiration. As an Ultimate Douluo, his strength approached nearly fifty tons, but the vast ocean's energy was terrifying. If Poseisy summoned a tsunami thousands of meters high, she could easily crush him.
Suddenly, both turned their gazes toward one direction. Without hesitation, Qian Daoliu slashed a golden sword aura toward it.
"Bang!" The golden sword aura shattered easily. A powerful soul energy emerged, one that rivaled the aura radiating from both Qian Daoliu and Poseisy.
"Hahaha, Qian Daoliu! You fight an unknown Ultimate Douluo and didn't tell me? That's just rude!"
Nine soul rings appeared — two yellow, two purple, four black, and one red. Tang Chen arrived wielding an enormous Sky-Caliber Hammer, its hammerhead as large as a giant water jar.
"You reckless fool! Coming this close just to sniff around?" Qian Daoliu jeered bluntly.
"You… you are…" Poseisy stared at Tang Chen, her expression frozen. She had heard of him before. When she was younger, she once traveled to the mainland seeking the lost Heart of the Sea God. At that time, she had heard of Tang Chen — the top young talent of the mainland — and had seen him from afar once, instantly falling for him.
Back then, Tang Chen was barely thirty, in the prime of his youth and charm. However, he was already betrothed, and she had her own duties, so she never revealed her feelings, only watching from afar before returning to Sea God Island.
Seventy years later, she never expected to meet Tang Chen again — and now, he had reached the Ultimate Douluo level by his own merit.
Because of his powerful cultivation, Tang Chen in his thirties looked not much different from his current appearance over a hundred years old, perhaps even younger from spending so much time at Haotian Sect.
"Haotian Sect's Tang Chen! I didn't expect there was another Ultimate Douluo in this world," Poseisy said.
Tang Chen introduced himself, unaware of Poseisy or Sea God Island before.
"Sea God Island, Poseisy."
Tang Chen spun his hammer, adopting a battle stance and stepping forward. His rough voice rang out, "Poseisy, let's have a fight!"
Qian Daoliu stepped closer, shouting, "Tang Chen, get lost! I'm not finished yet!"
Tang Chen stepped forward again, waving his arm disdainfully. "Qian Daoliu, you've been fighting so long without a winner. Your soul power's drained, but Poseisy's still at full strength. No need to watch you lose—let me handle this. You just stand aside as a spectator!"
Veins bulged on Qian Daoliu's forehead. "You damn—"
After a heated exchange, Poseisy intervened, telling Qian Daoliu to step aside and recover. They agreed to move to another location to continue the battle.
Tang Chen learned Poseisy could enhance her strength by drawing power from the ocean and eagerly decided to challenge her at sea to see just how strong she was with the ocean's blessing.
"I'm curious what you reckless fool can do."
Qian Daoliu quietly recovered his soul power nearby, watching Tang Chen standing on the sea and the graceful Poseisy hovering above.
"Realm of the Killing God—True Haotian Form!"
Crimson killing intent exploded wildly within Tang Chen. The sea beneath him froze from the pressure, revealing a blood-red bat imprint. Tossing his hammer into the air, blood-colored thunder crackled as a dark soul ring ignited.
The Sky-Caliber Hammer expanded rapidly, its head swelling like a small hill. Tang Chen leapt, clutching the enormous hammer with both arms, smashing it down fiercely toward Poseisy.
Poseisy's seventh soul ring lit up, her Sea God soul spirit growing huge as well. She wielded a trident forged from soul energy, thrusting it fiercely at the descending hammerhead.
Boom!
A massive explosion roared, waves of terrifying soul energy rippling outward. The ocean floor beneath them caved hundreds of meters downward. Qian Daoliu raised a shield of soul power to defend against the storm.
Crack!
Poseisy's trident shattered from Tang Chen's hammer blow, and she felt a sudden loss of weight. She immediately summoned the ocean's power to support her body.
Far away, Qian Xunji's spiritual senses could not discern the detailed fight but saw the collision of two massive soul spirit forms like small hills. A look of confusion crossed his brow.
Even Poseisy, with her eight black and one red soul rings, needed the ocean's power to withstand the Sky-Caliber Hammer. No soul spirit could match the hammer's brute force head-on. But why did Poseisy deliberately take the full hammerhead strike?
The Sky-Caliber Hammer's terrifying destructive power came from its weight. The Douluo world was, in a way, fair—any too-powerful soul spirit had its limits. The hammer's heavy destruction came at the cost of slower swing speed.
With a light trident and the precision insight granted by Ultimate Douluo-level soul power, why not avoid the hammerhead and block the handle instead?
Didn't she understand leverage? If she blocked the handle or intercepted Tang Chen's swing early, denying him the chance to build momentum, the hammer's destructive power wouldn't fully unleash.
It's one thing if the soul spirit form was hard to dodge, but the true hammer spirit was huge—there should have been opportunities to block it. Even if dangerous, a step back would avoid the blow.
