As Emelia stepped into the Heinsberg Corporation's main building, a familiar chill washed over her—not from the air conditioning, but from the cold, assessing gazes that followed her every step.

The polished marble floors, glass-paneled walls, and sleek minimalist decor hadn't changed since her last visit, back when she had been the candidate for CEO. 

Back when people greeted her with polite nods, tight smiles, and eager attention. Now, as she walked past the front lobby and deeper into the building, the air felt different.

Stiff backs straightened at the sight of her, but eyes turned away just as quickly. 

Some people pretended to be immersed in their phones or documents, others outright shifted direction to avoid crossing her path. It wasn't hard to understand what was happening—they recognized her. 

They remembered. But none of them wanted to acknowledge her now.
