Chapter 14: First Lesson

Klera's Point of View

I was in such a rush earlier, I didn't get a good look at our room. Now, taking my time, I'm really noticing how nice it is. The colors are amazing—I love how the walls look with the furniture. Our Psychic Pavilion Room is spacious and vibrant! The magenta perfectly complements the Academy's elegant white and gold decor. Magenta flags with Crystal ball designs add a touch of magic, and two medium-sized tables, each seating four students, are enough for eight psychics. I sit in a chair near the window.

At the front, a table is set up for our Tutor, who is now addressing the class with her assistant. "To become a talented Psychic, you must first learn to channel your magic energy," she announced. "This is the foundation upon which all other abilities are built. Please stand and watch Devon demonstrate the proper technique for channeling your energy." With a graceful nod, Devon, her assistant, stepped confidently to the center of the room, ready to begin the demonstration.

The assistant closed her eyes, focusing intently. A breathtaking purple light erupted from her ring—her magic item- started to shine, a bright purple light. A glowing aura of purple energy swirled around her, filling the air with magical power. She drew in this amazing power, feeling it fill her, making her stronger and ready to control its power. The light grew brighter, showing how much magic she was using. It was both beautiful and powerful.

"This is how you channel your magic: regulate the energy within your body, drawing it to the surface. Once channeled, carefully control the flow, maintaining and stabilizing it." Her assistant opened her eyes, and with a single finger, began to draw purple energy to its tip, moving it to another finger, making it dance and swirl. It looked like she was playing with a playful purple light. The final step is releasing this energy.

With a deliberate gesture, she released the purple energy, shouting, "Double Trouble!" The energy vanished, and a clone emerged beside her.

Ability explanation:

(Double Trouble is a Clone ability that conjures a perfect one duplicate of the caster. This is not merely a simple copy; it's a mischievous mirror image, sharing skills, strength, and even a mind of its own.)

"There's still more I can do with my clone ability," she said. "It can even stay around for a longer time. I want to help you understand your abilities better, so I'll teach you the basics. I'll show you how they work." She bowed her head a little, then made her clone disappear. She returned to the corner where she had been standing.

"So, that is why we always have lots and lots of food here at the Academy! We owe it to her ability to clone our food here," Master Felicia said, laughing. "I'm just teasing you all," she added with a big smile.

"Okay, everyone," she said, "let's remember the steps: Channel, Control, then Release. Who wants to give it a try first? Don't be shy!" She looked at all the students. My fellow students and I looked at each other, a little unsure.

"No volunteers?" Master Felicia asked kindly. "Alright then, everyone will show me how their abilities work. It's important practice."

"And one more thing," she said. "Remember to say your incantations for your powers, as this is also vital for casting your magic. Most of us here at the Academy who are Tier-ranked adventurers have mastered our magic, so most of us don't need them all the time. We keep our magic tomes hidden away, and we only use incantations for really strong and powerful magic." she announced.

"Imbued with your magic energy, your Tome could float right in front of you whenever you need to check something. That way, you don't have to search for it or worry about dropping it while you're trying to do your magic. It would be like having your own personal magic helper, always there to remind you of the right words."

"Okay, let's see. Hope Roberts, your ability is similar to Devon's, right? Could you come up here, please?" Master Felicia asked.

A young lady named Hope walked to the front of the classroom.

"Don't worry; each specialty has unique abilities; your magic tome might contain many that Devon doesn't have."

"Demonstrate your abilities to your fellow psychics. My Cognitive Recognition allows me to see your magic, so I know your strengths and weaknesses," Master Felicia explained.

"Show us what you've got, my dear," she added with a smile.

"Yes, Master Felicia," Hope answered.

"Remember: Channel, Control, then synchronize with the incantation before releasing the power for best results." Master Felicia explained patiently. "Do you understand?"

"Yes, Master," Hope said, ready to demonstrate her ability.

Hope closed her eyes tight, to focus. A beautiful pink light suddenly burst out from her amulet. It was so bright! A swirling, glowing pink cloud of energy surrounded her, making the whole room feel magical and powerful. She breathed in deeply, feeling the magic energy fill her up, power building inside her, and she knew she could control it. The pink light got even brighter, showing just how much magic she was using. It was amazing to see—so pretty and so strong at the same time. The air itself seemed to shimmer with the energy, and a gentle warmth spread through the room. Hope felt a thrill of excitement; she was ready to cast an ability.

"That's it," Master Felicia said, her voice firm but gentle. "Now, find a simple magic ability in your tome and practice casting it."

"Echo of form, take hold,

Imperfect image, built to last,

A mirrored ghost, take its form."

After reading the incantation to her floating Tome, she shouted,

"Partial Copy!"

Ability explanation:

(Partial Copy is a Replication ability that creates an imperfect duplicate of an object. Unlike a perfect replication, a Partial Copy lacks certain qualities of the original, resulting in a copy that is similar but not identical.)

Then, a blurry, ghostly pink copy of her magic tome appeared. It looked exactly like her book, but it was see-through and shimmered a little. It was a ghostly image, a pale imitation of her actual tome. It floated in the air for a moment before slowly fading away.

The crowd burst into applause. Everyone was amazed by what they had just seen—her magic was incredible. After the clapping died down a bit, Master Felicia complimented, "That was fantastic! Very impressive magic, indeed!" Then, she turned to someone else. "Klera Ward," she called out, her voice warm and friendly. "Can you please come up here, dear? It's your turn to show us what you can do."

As I walked toward the center, a slight nervousness in my step, Master Felicia addressed the assembled students. "Now, I want to say something important," she began, her voice carrying clearly over the hushed anticipation. "The Psychics, Priests, and Priestesses are the most important and crucial members of a Team. Their abilities and spells are the foundation upon which success is built. Therefore, it is the sacred duty of the other members to ensure their safety and well-being. This means providing unwavering protection, anticipating their needs, and always having their backs. But we must also do our best to support them; do not fail them."
