General Yves listed several questions, the first being:
"Are we on the same land?"
Before, General Yves had not thought about this.
But what he really wanted to confirm was the second question.
"Why is there no Chen Kingdom on the map?"
"Is the place you are in now the future land of the Chen Kingdom?"
On the video, there was the Wu Kingdom, Zhao Kingdom, Wei Kingdom, and even Nan Yue. The Chen Kingdom had existed briefly too, but there was no sign of the Chen Kingdom.
Sophia looked at the letter. Her handwriting was rougher and wilder than usual. She thought carefully about how to reply.
After a long time, she began to write.
"In the current civilized countries, the Chen Kingdom only existed in unofficial histories, but recently, an ancient tomb was found, proving the Chen Kingdom did exist."
"But from this, it shows the Chen Kingdom lasted a short time, so there are fewer traces left."
Sophia paused, then continued, "But I don't know if history has changed now. According to the official history, the Chen Kingdom wouldn't have fallen so quickly. At this time, the Chen Kingdom should still exist, and it would take about half a year before the Wu Kingdom fully took over."
General Yves sat on the ground, with a map spread before him and a glowing globe.
The room was dim until a letter floated down. Only then did General Yves move quickly.
He grabbed it eagerly and noticed outside it was already dark, and the room had no light.
"Someone, bring a lamp!"
The globe gave some light, but not enough to read the letter.
Soon, servants came in carrying oil lamps, one to light for General Yves and one to light the room.
Warm yellow light filled the room.
General Yves could finally see the words clearly.
The servants, seeing General Yves gave no more orders, quietly left.
Reading the letter, General Yves suddenly realized that what Sophia sent was from another time.
Seeing that the Chen Kingdom was missing from history, his heart tightened. He read the rest quickly.
"Has history already changed?"
General Yves suddenly remembered the hard final battle in Chu land, where he was badly wounded.
If Sophia hadn't given him the medicine then, maybe the Chen Kingdom really would have disappeared.
This matched what Sophia wrote but the medicine she sent was different than expected.
General Yves still had many questions, but Sophia could not answer them quickly.
His attention returned to the map.
The biggest problem now was urgent.
Even with Sophia's help, the whole Chen Kingdom was huge, but Sophia was just one person far away. She could only help for a short time.
The ladder was already set up; they had to rely on themselves next.
Looking at the map, General Yves circled the location of Chen Commandery.
The Chen Commandery borders the Wu Kingdom, but on the other side, there was vast wasteland with no people, and it could bypass the Wu Kingdom to reach the sea.
The war between the Wu Kingdom and Zhao Kingdom was about to start. Right now, the Chen army was resting and recovering.
General Yves thought carefully about their next steps.
General Yves didn't sleep the whole night. Early the next morning, he ordered all the soldiers in the military camp to come and see him.
The four main generals and their deputies arrived together.
General Yves took out a map. "This is the world map given to us by the Divine One. Right now, we are here. This part is Chen County. Below us are the Kingdoms of Wu and Zhao. These two kingdoms may be facing internal unrest soon, so this is the best time for us to rest and rebuild."
The four generals stepped forward and gathered around the map.
The background was blue, and there was a curved shape on it. It looked like a circle with its top and bottom cut off. The strange shape was confusing at first glance.
"Is this the land we're standing on?"
"What do the blue and green colors mean?"
The map had all kinds of overlapping lines and many irregular green patches.
"The entire world is shaped like a ball. This map shows what it looks like when it's flattened. The green areas are land. The blue parts are oceans," General Yves explained.
"So, this world doesn't just have the Kingdom of Zhao, Wu, Wei, and Nanyue?"
"There's actually such a huge sky and land beyond?"
Everyone was stunned. No one knew what to say.
Some murmured, "Our Zhao Kingdom is clearly blessed by the Divine One. With their blessing, this vast land will definitely be ours."
As they spoke, the soldiers became excited. Their eyes lit up with determination and ambition. All of them looked to General Yves, waiting for his next command.
Now that they had learned this important information, there was no need to rush into fighting with the Kingdoms of Wu and Zhao. Instead of battling over what was already taken, it was better to focus on the wild and ownerless lands.
"Commander, what should we do next?" one of the generals asked.
Their eyes were full of expectation, waiting for General Yves to speak.
Just now, General Yves had stepped back to let everyone see the map clearly. Now, he moved forward again and pointed at the map.
"The world we live in is shaped like a sphere. The Zhao Kingdom is just a tiny part of it. We don't even know if the other areas are like our West Continent."
"For now, we don't need to think too far. Let's focus on the West Continent."
"Look at this spot. These are the other kingdoms," General Yves said as he circled some areas on the map with a charcoal pencil.
Last night, he discovered that the charcoal pencil worked well on this smooth paper and could be erased easily with just a swipe of the hand.
"We didn't notice before, but now it's clear. The unclaimed lands are huge. Why rush to fight Wu and Zhao? While their attention is elsewhere, we should quickly claim these free lands."
He pointed to the circled areas.
Currently, the lands occupied by the various kingdoms on the West Continent don't even take up half of the map.
The others looked at the map and were even more shocked. The Zhao Kingdom, even the whole West Continent, looked so small compared to the rest of the world.
General Yves wasn't asking for their opinions. "Red Wolf, Yellow Tiger, Green Sparrow, and White Fox , after taking Chu and Chen County, we've gained many new soldiers. This is the perfect time to put them to good use."
Feeding so many people every day without any results, especially with the drought and food shortages, had put a lot of pressure on General Yves.
None of the generals objected. If they could open up new lands, it would be a great achievement for them — something that would be remembered for generations.
