Sophia slept until late in the morning.
Right after waking up, she got a phone call. The mattresses had arrived and were now waiting at the warehouse in town.
Since Ronin was away on a business trip, Sophia had to drive there herself to pick them up.
When she arrived, a truck was already parked at the gate.
She opened the gate and let the truck in to unload.
All one hundred latex mattresses she bought were rolled up. But the one meant for General Yves was more expensive, and it had been packed and transported with extra care.
After everything was unloaded, Sophia saw the workers out, then started sending the goods through the pig trough.
"General Yves, please get ready. A batch of mattresses is being sent over. These aren't daily necessities, but they might be good as rewards for soldiers who have done well."
General Yves received the note and looked puzzled.
Usually, rewards were things like fine fabric. It was strange to give something like bedding, which felt very personal.
Even though he was confused, he still accepted it.
Sophia must have had a good reason for sending them.
Not long after, he received a bunch of long, white objects wrapped in a clear material. They felt as hard as wood.
General Yves didn't examine them closely right away. He just ordered the servants to lay them out properly.
After most of them had been sent over, the last mattress came with a note from Sophia.
"This last mattress is just for you. It's bigger than the others. Make sure no one stands nearby, so no one gets hurt if it falls."
Being treated in a special way made him feel something strange inside. Everyone wants to feel important. Even General Yves couldn't help but feel a bit different after reading that.
"You all step back," he told the servants who were standing around.
After a short wait, a square-shaped item suddenly dropped from the sky, raising a small cloud of dust.
The mattress was as thick as the width of an adult's hand.
General Yves walked closer to look.
Sophia said in her note that this was used for laying on the bed.
In the palace or noble homes, servants would prepare bedding, but never anything this thick.
He thought about asking someone to lie down and try it first, but he couldn't bring himself to let others touch it. Sophia had said this one was just for him.
It was his. He didn't want anyone else using it.
So he gave another order. "Everyone turn around."
His face was serious as he waited for everyone to face the other way. Then he walked forward, pressed on the mattress, and found it wasn't that hard.
He suddenly threw himself onto it.
Right away, he felt his tired shoulders and neck relax. It felt much better than the thin bedding used before. The mattress was firm but soft. It supported his body without sinking too much.
General Yves didn't want to get up.
But the sun was hot, and the mattress was still outside in the courtyard.
During war, comfort didn't matter. But now that he was at home, he still liked to act proper and serious.
He stood up reluctantly. "Move this mattress into my room."
The servants followed his order and carried the mattress inside. Luckily, his room was large, and the doorframe was tall enough to fit it through.
But once it was inside, they found out that the mattress didn't match the size of the bed frame.
General Yves stayed quiet for a moment, then said, "Just place the mattress against the wall for now."
Then he told them to bring in the carpenters from the estate.
Sophia didn't know that just for the mattress she sent, General Yves was going to build a brand new bed.
There were five or six carpenters in the estate. They spent a couple of days choosing the wood. After that, the work moved quickly. In about five or six days, the new bed frame was finished.
The work was excellent. These carpenters didn't cut corners, especially since the bed was for General Yves.
Over there, Sophia finished sending the items and was done.
She accepted the invitation to have lunch with Professor Zhou and the others.
When Sophia arrived, they had already ordered the food and were talking about antique paintings and items.
"A tomb of a general from the Zhao Kingdom was discovered. Now more and more antiques with Zhao Kingdom symbols are showing up in the market."
"Hey Zhou Xiu, I heard you have a batch of them?" Teacher Qin turned his head to look at Professor Zhou.
Professor Zhou said calmly, "You really get information fast."
"Then do you know where my batch of antiques came from?"
Her eyes moved over each person at the table. When she looked at Sophia, her expression became playful.
Everyone noticed her eyes staying on Sophia and understood what that meant.
"Did they come from Sophia?" someone asked, surprised.
Teacher Qin looked a little uneasy. "I heard you didn't just get one or two pieces."
Professor Zhou looked proud. "You wouldn't be able to guess how many I have."
That made everyone curious and they started guessing.
"Around ten pieces?"
"More than that. If it was only ten, would she be this proud? I guess thirty."
"Yes. I bought them early from Sophia. At that time, no one even knew about the tomb in the north," Professor Zhou explained. "There were fifty-three pieces in total. I paid more than six hundred million."
"Zhou Xiu, you really found a treasure."
Everyone was surprised. Then they turned to Sophia and asked, "Sophia, do you still have other things?"
Since Professor Zhou talked about it so openly, no one doubted the antiques she sold.
If even Zhou Xiu couldn't tell they weren't real, and it happened more than fifty times, it meant the items Sophia had were extremely real-looking. Probably only a few experts in the whole field could tell the difference.
The food was being served one dish after another, but no one focused on eating.
Sophia took out her phone and showed them pictures.
She had already gone to the warehouse and taken photos of the jewelry, gold and silver items, porcelain, and paintings. She was ready to sell them any time.
When they heard she had pictures, the old Mr. Zhou said, "Let's just make a group chat."
Right then and there, they created a group chat and added Sophia in.
She uploaded the pictures directly in the group so everyone could see them.
She sent dozens of pictures. All were original quality.
Since it was taking time to send all the pictures, Professor Zhou said, "Let's eat first."
But during the whole meal, everyone kept wearing their reading glasses, zooming in on the phone screen to check the photos carefully. No one really ate much.
Sophia and Amelia were the only ones who ate properly. They were still young and cared more about food. While the others were too busy looking at photos, the two of them ate until they were full.
The group had planned to take a break today and leave tomorrow.
But after that meal, they all quietly canceled their flight tickets.
"Let's stay two more days."
Teacher Qin smiled and said to Professor Zhou, "It's not often we come here. The place is beautiful and perfect for resting."
Then he turned to look at Sophia. "Sophia, are all these items for sale? Do you have anything else that you haven't posted yet?"
