Chapter 14: “Gods Don’t Sleep—But He Did

[Location: Earth.v1 – Dream Breach Layer, 03:37 A.M.]

Rishi should have been asleep. But sleep wasn't peace anymore.

He jolted upright, soaked in sweat. Not from fear—he was beyond that—but from understanding. Each night, the Hollow Patch invaded his dreams. Not as monsters or glitches… but as possibilities.

And they whispered one thing over and over:

"If you can rewrite the world, then what is truth?"

His Trainer blinked awake on his wrist like a loyal dog sensing a threat.

Alert: Unknown mental intrusion detected.Source: Internal. Not external.Location: Your soul.

For a brief second, Rishi saw his younger self at the foot of his bed.Not Auto-Save. Not Specter.Just the scared boy who once cried alone during lunch breaks.

"What if I never wanted to become this?" the child asked."What if I just wanted friends, not followers?"

Rishi blinked—and he was gone.

[Scene Shift: Hollow Patch Breach – Reality Layer Cracks]

Rehan burst through the door.

"There's a breach. A big one. Not virtual—psychological."

People across cities were blacking out. Waking up with memories they never lived. Acting like NPCs. Entire towns were behaving like scripted game loops.

"Specter's corrupted the dream code," Nyra said, joining them."He's making people believe they're in control… when they're already rewritten."

Rishi activated his Trainer. A warning popped up.

Limit Reached: Emotional-Ethical Override Triggered. To proceed, you must give up the last firewall: Your Memory.

Rishi hesitated. If he did this, he'd forget the past three seasons. The pain. The growth. The choices.

But maybe… that's what Specter feared most: a version of Rishi who didn't care about being good anymore.

"Do it," he said."Wipe my memory. Let me meet myself again—as a threat."

[Initiating Last Protocol: Blank God Reboot]

The room shook. The sky cracked.Rishi's mind fractured across light and shadow.

He saw himself again—this time, as Specter. A version of him that loved power, that ruled Patchworld with perfect efficiency. A version that never spared Nyra. That erased Rehan for questioning. That never cried.

He fought. Not with weapons, but with questions.

"What if mercy wasn't weakness?""What if brokenness made me worthy of this Trainer?""What if being god was never the point?"

And finally:

"What if being human was the last cheat code no one cracked?"

[Final Sequence: Reclaim Earth.v1]

His memory returned—earned back, not restored. The Trainer pulsed with a new message.

New Ability Unlocked:Soul.Map() – See the truth inside every living mind.Patch.Logic(Reality.v1) – Modify only with consent.Mode: Human++ Activated.

He didn't wipe Specter out.

He rewrote him as a child, gave him back his innocence, and locked him in a temporal loop where he'd grow—not reset.

"You win," Specter whispered as he vanished. "But for how long?"

[Final Scene: Rooftop, 40 Days Later]

Nyra leaned against Rishi, looking out over a city full of laughter and light.

"So, you're not a god anymore?" she asked.

"I never was," he smiled. "I was just the first guy to get a Trainer… and not lose himself."

"You're kind of boring now," she teased.

"Yeah," he chuckled. "But boring is real. And I'll take that over invincible any day."

Far in the distance, a child with white hair watched them.

He smiled—and vanished.
