Chapter 15: The End of Phase One
As Valen barely dodged the arrows, he broke a sweat while dodging it. His face went pale as he saw the arrow going past him. In the meantime, Lucian managed to tell the griffon to fly at full speed through psychic telepathy. They fled away from the battlefield, leaving Michael, and Marcus and his faction alone.
Marcus turned his gaze towards Ellis and told her, "You really are something else, Ellis, to make Valen break a sweat."
Hearing his flattering words, Ellis spoke in a cold and honest tone, "He had a hard time dodging it, but he was still woundless and that was my fastest shot, if not powerful. I think if we have a fight, if he and I don't make any mistakes, it will be his win."
Marcus then agreed with Ellis and said, "You would give him a hard time, but I agree with you."
Then a voice suddenly interrupted them. It was none other than Michael. "Your shot is insane, whatever your name is."
They all then looked for the area where the voice was coming from. They saw a hologram of Michael behind them.
Ellis was certainly annoyed that someone forgot her name. She glared at Michael with a gaze that could pierce through rocks.
Michael looked at her and spoke in a cocky tone, "I'm certainly well famous, huh? Fans glaring at me like that."
Ellis got annoyed by Michael. She then loaded her bow with multiple arrows, infused them with mana, and shouted, "Destruction unleashed—the arrow of wind."
It rocketed from the bow in a matter of milliseconds. It broke through the sound barriers and travelled nearly at the speed of light, but still passed through Michael, creating a typhoon large enough to swallow mountain ranges.
Michael looked at Ellis and replied in a disappointed tone, "Alas, another one with beauty but no brains. Seriously, are Lucian and me the only ones in this generation who have a brain? Why do you name the attack on the basis of how it impacts? You should have named it 'Arrow of Fire' so the enemy would be devastated—or maybe he already will be by your beauty."
As Ellis heard his words, she was so angry that her face was about to explode. That's when Galahad stepped forward and spoke to Michael in a calm and compassionate tone, "We apologise for any mistakes, Hurricane Master, but please join us. That will benefit us both."
Michael looked at him and said in a mocking tone, "Mr. Honor Knight, I'm the logic wrapped in a human's body, so I'm a racist when I want, and I can criticize different people. Like Valen from the North and you from the Capital are all foreigners. I alone am the authentic. But at the end of the day, I'm racist to everyone, so you have to find the crack in my formation, then fight me and defeat me, and then I will join your team."
Hearing Michael's words, all of them were angry—especially Marcus and Ellis.
They both launched a barrage of attacks on Michael, but none of them worked.
Then, laughing at them, Siegfried came forward.
He looked at both Ellis and Marcus and said while laughing, "Hahahahaha, I can't believe you. How can you be so dumb? He is doing this illusion by controlling the energy of this phase. You need to do a ground attack to break his formation."
Marcus then scratched his head, wondering why he could not think of it, but still disagreed and replied to Siegfried, "You are partially correct, Siegfried, but we still have a problem. We can still use the energy ourselves."
Siegfried didn't care for his words. He gripped his spear tightly while imbuing it with red fiery mana that scorched the ground around him. He looked at Michael and shouted, "Heavenly wind, descend."
As Siegfried said those words, Michael got ready to block the wind attack. Instead of the wind he was expecting, there was a volcanic-like eruption. Flames and lava were coming out of the ground like flowers. Siegfried's own allies, who thought it was a wind attack, got sucked into the commotion.
They all shouted at Siegfried and said, "You idiot! Pronounce the attack to its effect and we could have used Michael's trick."
Siegfried then replied while shouting, "Michael was the one who advised me!"
After the attack's aftermath ended, they all stood there looking up to Michael angrily—except Siegfried. Ellis walked up to him with her arrow loaded on the bow.
Michael was scared of her and then started to speak, "Can you not beat the back please?"
As Michael said those words, Ellis got ready to fight him, but instead, Michael pointed towards the back and said, "Before you take care of me, take care of her."
All of them looked behind. There they saw a girl with a cold face and black hair, with her blue eyes looking at them. She had a dark blue attire on that made her invisible in the dark. Her face was as beautiful as the moon.
Michael looked towards her and said, "Oh hi Selene, are you here to save me?"
Selene then looked towards Michael with a cold gaze.
Michael got nervous from the smile and said, "I will take that as a no, I think."
Marcus then looked at her and said, "What business do you have with us, Evernight?"
Selene looked at him and replied, "I'm here to give you the location of every remaining team except Valen's team. End this phase quickly."
Marcus then looked at her with questions reflecting in his eyes and spoke in an alert tone, "Why do you wanna do this?"
Selene looked at her and said, "My time is worth more than this game."
As she said those words, she disappeared into thin air, leaving a map behind.
With the help of that map, the first phase then ended quickly.
After the first phase ended, the contestants then were standing at the gates of Imperial Academy, ready for the second stage.
