The crisp sound of promotion badges being handed over echoed through the stone walls of the Adventurer's Guild. The air buzzed with the energy of pride and accomplishment.
Jack, Emma, James, Ava, and little Sofia stepped out into the bustling streets of Jakarta City with shining silver-and-black B Rank badges pinned to their cloaks.
B-Rank Adventurers officially recognized!
The sun above was beginning its slow descent into the west, casting a warm golden glow over the city. The scent of roasted meat, baked bread, and exotic spices from merchant stalls wafted through the air.
"Let's stock up, Because they don't have beast meat and ingredients for daily needs." Emma said casually.
They stopped at a well-known meat vendor and purchased thick slabs of Thunder Boar, Stonehide Lizard tails, and a few crates of wine brewed with Flaming Lotus. A few more stops followed spices, dried herbs, enchanted salts, and essentials like mana grain and potion ingredients.
By the time the shopping was done, the sun dipped lower, tinting the sky crimson.
WHOOSH!
A gust of wind swept through as Ava summoned her magic flying ship, a sleek silver-blue vessel with floating runes and glowing crystal cores humming along the sides.
The ship lifted them above the rooftops of the city smooth, elegant, and silent as it glided through the sky.
From above, the city looked like a painting. But none of them admired the view this time.
Their thoughts were heavy. The weight of what happened during the Beast Tide and what had yet to be said hovered like a storm cloud.
The journey home passed in silence.
----
When they finally arrived at Jack's house, the hands of the clock pointed to 2 PM.
Their stomachs were already growling, but no one dared complain except one.
"Aghh! My tummy is dying!" Sofia cried, dramatically clutching her belly. "I'm gonna faint! Feed me, Mama!"
Thud!
She dropped onto the couch like a fallen warrior, tongue out in defeat.
Emma smiled, ruffling Sofia's hair. "Alright, alright! I'll cook right now!"
Without delay, Emma rushed into the kitchen.
Clang!
Sizzle!
Chop!
Chop!
The sounds of cooking echoed through the house like a battle symphony. Within the hour, the aroma of spicy Thunder Boar stew and crispy Fireleaf salad filled every corner.
Crunch!
Gulp!
Mmm!
By 4 PM, their plates were empty and their bellies full.
Jack leaned back into the plush couch in the living room, eyes closed. His limbs were heavy with satisfaction, but his heart was far from calm.
Everyone had gathered James, Emma, Ava, Sofia, and himself sitting close, sipping warm herb tea.
Suddenly…
Silence.
All eyes turned to Jack.
Five gazes. Unblinking. Intense.
Even Sofia, sitting with a juice bottle in her hand, was staring like a judge awaiting a verdict.
Jack opened one eye. "Ugh… You guys aren't gonna let this go, huh?'
James crossed his arms. 'Nope."
Emma narrowed her eyes. "Spill it."
Ava chuckled lightly. "You promised to explain, remember?"
Sigh…
Jack ran a hand through his hair, heart thudding like a war drum. He couldn't avoid this any longer.
"Fine…"
He took a deep breath.
"I'll tell you everything… well, almost everything."
Everyone leaned in.
Jack began, voice low and calm but layered with tension.
"The Beast Tide we faced yesterday… it wasn't just a beast outbreak. It was a trial. A divine test from a God, the same God who gave me my Main Blessing."
His words dropped like a thunderclap.
Ava's eyes gleamed with sudden interest. Emma's hands trembled slightly, and James froze mid-sip.
Jack continued carefully, choosing his words like stepping stones across a pit of fire each one deliberate, each one hiding the abyss beneath.
He spoke in half-truths laced with quiet lies, skillfully weaving reality and fiction together like a fragile veil.
Because buried within the truth… was a secret too dangerous to reveal.
A truth about the Supreme Blessing pulsing within his soul.
And about the nameless, ancient God a being so powerful, even whispering Its name might draw Its gaze.
So Jack did what he had to.
He concealed the most dangerous part.
To protect his family…
To protect their future…
He lied.
"When the 3rd Star Peak beasts attacked, and everyone, even Mom and Dad, fell unconscious… a messenger from God appeared before me. She was cloaked in divine energy, her voice echoing directly in my mind."
WHOOSH!
A phantom wind stirred in the room as if summoned by the memory.
"She told me… that Beast Tide wasn't a coincidence. It wasn't fate. It was arranged every growl, every roar, every death…"
Jack paused, his voice tightening.
"…It was a trial forged by divine will. Not just for me…"
His eyes moved to his parents.
"…but for Dad, Mom, and me."
Everyone gasped.
"I fought those beasts alone... and after I killed them Bang! The trial ended. She said we passed."
"She rewarded me with three things: a lost Ancient Beast Taming Technique, a Life Bond Artifact Weapon, and… a Mysterious Beast Egg."
The mention of treasures caused even Ava's composed expression to shift.
But Jack wasn't done.
"She also warned me… this was just the beginning. More trials will come. And if we keep passing them we'll gain even greater rewards. Miraculous blessings. Power beyond reason."
"But"
He paused, locking eyes with them one by one.
"To avoid disrupting the world's balance… she altered the memories of all Otherworlders who participate in Beast Tide battle. So they believe they fought and defeated the Beast Tide together and themself."
CRACK!
Emma's teacup shattered against the floor.
"Wait... what? That's…" she muttered, unable to find the words.
James clenched his fists. "So... all those deaths. All that destruction. Just a test & trial?"
Jack nodded solemnly. "Yes. And the casualties were... acceptable, according to her."
Emma's voice shook. "So many people died… just for a trial?"
Ava responded calmly, "That's the nature of this world. Divine trials rarely come without blood. In the Samsara World, death often walks hand-in-hand with destiny."
Her tone was cold, but wise.
Jack added, "The messenger said… if we keep passing, even Dad might receive a Main Blessing one day."
James straightened in his seat, eyes gleaming. "Me? A Main Blessing?!"
"It even possible"
Jack grinned. "Not just that."
He looked at his father, smile softening.
"She told me... Ironfang didn't die. His soul returned to the Beast Taming Space in your Sea of Knowledge and he revived. He's recovering. Once healed, he'll return to you."
James's jaw dropped. His voice cracked. "He… he's alive?"
"So when told Ironfang is still alive it's not a lie."
His chest heaved, emotion crashing over him like a tidal wave. His bond with Ironfang was deeper than words forged in countless battles.
Jack nodded, eyes kind.
Then, his voice dropped again, becoming dark and heavy.
"I asked her something else."
Everyone looked up.
"I asked… 'Why? Why us? Why is your God doing all this for our family? Why he intrested in us. There's no free lunch in this world… so what's the price?'"
A long silence stretched.
Jack took a breath and answered.
"She told me... when all trials are complete, God will give us a mission. A task."
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
His heart pounded.
"She said it won't be something impossible. But if we succeed... our family will receive rewards beyond our imagination."
The room froze.
BOOM.
A silent explosion of understanding rippled through each of them.
Emma's hands went to her mouth. James stared into space, thoughts racing. Ava simply nodded slowly, as if confirming a suspicion she already had.
Even little Sofia blinked in some realization.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Jack exhaled deeply.
"That's all I can tell you. For now."
----
Outside, the sky had darkened, stars blinking through the twilight veil.
Inside, their family was no longer the same.
They were not just survivors of a Beast Tide. They were chosen by a divine force beyond comprehension for a destiny that could change the fate of their world.
And though the path ahead was shrouded in mystery and danger…
They would walk it together.
Whatever came next…
They were ready.
