As Claude lay in the delivery chair, he looked over at Ben and little Johnny. "I didn't mean to steal your day—this is your special day and this happened. I wish it would just wait till tomorrow. All this hurts so bad. I feel like my insides are being stretched so wide."
"Don't worry about it, it's our day. Maybe all three children will have the same date of birth—we can make it a triple event if you hurry up." Ben's voice was gentle but encouraging. "It's going to be rough, no doubt. This is your first time and it's going to hurt some. In fact, it may hurt like hell, but guess what? When you hold these children, you are going to realize how much it was worth it."
Lex checked him again and nodded. "Okay, take your legs out of the stirrups so that they can rest. Shouldn't have any problems at all, but let me know if you feel any different."
