Relief washed over me as I walked away from the basketball courts. My conversation with Liam had gone better than I'd expected. The weight of pretending lifted from my shoulders, and for once, the path ahead seemed clearer.

I spotted Seraphina and Debra waving at me from our usual bench near the science building. Their curious expressions told me they were dying for details.

"Well?" Seraphina asked the moment I was within earshot. "How did it go with Liam? Do we need ice cream and sad movies, or did you manage to let him down gently?"

I collapsed onto the bench between them. "Surprisingly well, actually. We talked it out. He understood."

Debra's eyebrows shot up. "No drama? No tears? No 'I'll never love again' speech?"

"None of that," I confirmed. "It turns out he knew where my heart really was all along." I hesitated before adding, "He also admitted to exaggerating some things about Rhys to make him look worse."

"I knew it!" Seraphina exclaimed. "What specifically?"
