An Unexpected Lifeline Friendship, Joy, and a Mysterious Admirer

The drive home from the office was a blur. I couldn't get Orion's words out of my head.

*You are bound to be with me.*

Those words echoed in my ears like a death sentence. I had escaped one prison only to find myself in another, more insidious one. The realization crushed what little strength I had left.

My phone rang, displaying Gideon's name. My brother had been calling regularly since I left Silver Moon Pack, probably worried about my abrupt departure. I silenced the call, unable to summon the energy to explain what had happened. What would I even say? That I'd fled from Rhys, only to discover Orion was just as controlling?

All I wanted was to crawl into bed and disappear for a while.

When I pulled into my driveway, I noticed an unfamiliar blue sedan parked outside. Great. Probably one of Orion's people checking up on me. The thought made me clench my teeth as I slammed my car door shut.

I trudged up the walkway, fumbling for my keys when the front door suddenly flew open.
