The question hung in the air between us, heavy with implications. My heart thundered in my chest as I stared at Orion, praying he would deny it.
"Did you plan the accident for Rhys four years ago?" I repeated, my voice stronger this time.
Orion's golden eyes met mine, unflinching. "Yes."
One simple word. Three letters that shattered something inside me.
"But it wasn't an accident," he continued calmly, as if discussing the weather. "It was a carefully planned attack."
The room seemed to spin around me. I'd spent four years trusting this man, believing in him, allowing him to become a cornerstone of my new life.
"Why?" The word escaped my lips in a broken whisper.
"Because he deserved it," Orion replied, his voice hardening. "After what he did to you—"
