Chapter 68: Battle on Earth-700 (1)

Deep beneath Brooklyn, a disused subway tunnel had been converted into a gleaming, cold technological lair. Blue energy conduits snaked across the curved metal walls, two massive energy emitters facing each other.

Once power was channeled into the emitters, the two energy streams would collide, tearing open the multiverse—but so far, it hadn't succeeded.

Kingpin, even larger than his Earth-616 counterpart, sat in the control room of the collider. His Sinister Six (including himself) were ready for action. Without a doubt, that damned bug would come to cause trouble, and their sole purpose remained to tear that bug apart.

"If Spider-Man comes here today," Kingpin looked at his subordinates, "don't let him leave alive—"

Kingpin didn't even finish his threat, because the voice he knew and detested so well was already echoing through the Brooklyn underground.

"Are you here, Willy? Hello?"

Earth-700's Spider-Man walked in while speaking, his voice reverberating through the empty tunnels. His footsteps were clear and soon appeared on the monitors.

"Can we talk this over? Just surrender here, and I can spare you from having to wear sunglasses to hide your black eyes. Your plan is definitely going to fail."

"Deal with him."

Kingpin looked at the enormous Green Goblin, adding an extra instruction: "Remember to take him far away, don't let him disturb us."

The massive Green Goblin unfurled his huge wings and flew out of the control room, lunging towards Spider-Man (Earth-700). The latter remained casual, not even raising a hand.

"Because, as the old Spider said, when you play with parallel universes, parallel universes play with you."

The charging Green Goblin didn't notice a figure leaping out of the darkness. Spider-Man 2099 unsheathed his claws and slashed at him, pinning him to the ground and then relentlessly tearing into him. At this moment, Spider-Man (Earth-700) also swung on a web towards the control room, accompanied by our protagonist Spider-Man from Earth-616.

"I have a question, did you call yourself 'old Spider' to differentiate us?"

"No, I meant I'm experienced and full of wisdom."

Watching the two Spider-Men swing in together, and Spider-Man 2099 pummeling Green Goblin on the ground, Kingpin completely failed to understand what was happening. Only Doctor Octopus Liv pushed up her glasses, a very excited smile on her face.

"It must be the collider working, bringing us two Spider-Men from other universes. Mr. Fisk, my device was successful."

"If by 'successful,' you mean bringing two more Spider-Men." Kingpin glanced at Liv, then told her to continue the experiment and not stop, while the others were to deal with the other two Spider-Men.

"According to the plan, I'll go take care of Scorpion first!"

Peter said to Spider-Man (Earth-700) while swinging towards Scorpion, but someone was faster than Scorpion. Prowler brandished his claws, running along the wall towards Peter, then lunged directly at him. Peter released his web, barely dodging, but his re-fired web was cut by one of Prowler's thrown knives.

"Then change of plans, you go deal with Prowler!" The blonde Peter yelled, looking at Scorpion and Tombstone in front of him, taking a deep breath: "I'll take care of these two."

Meanwhile, Green Goblin, who had been pinned and beaten by Spider-Man 2099 for half a day, finally recovered. Seizing the moment 2099 swung a punch, he opened his massive mouth and spewed forth torrents of flame. Without a spider-sense, Miguel was almost taken down by the blast, but he narrowly dodged, then narrowed his eyes at the Green Goblin, who had now risen to a height of nearly three meters with a wingspan exceeding five meters. He unhesitatingly unsheathed his claws.

"That kid was right, you should change your name to Winged Troll."

This universe's Green Goblin seemed to have little intelligence, charging forward like a beast or even the Hulk. Despite having wings, he still ran forward. Fortunately, Miguel had dealt with the 2099 versions of both Green Goblin and Hulk, and very fortunately, the Green Goblin he faced was also the Alchemax version.

"Here's a little tip, big guy."

Miguel extended his right claw, dangerous red light glinting on its tip. He didn't rely on spider-sense, but on Lyra's data analysis, his own combat experience, and his bullet-time vision. He bent low, lowering his center of gravity, searching for the detailed flaws in Green Goblin's slow-motion movements, then seized the optimal moment and leapt.

Immediately, red blood spurted from the massive monster before him. Five deep wounds appeared on the clumsy Green Goblin's chest. He was directly flung backward, crashing heavily to the ground. Scarlet steam rapidly rose from Miguel's heated claws.

"You've been losing non-stop from 2018 all the way to 2099."

A roar emanated from Green Goblin's mouth. His wings acted like struts, supporting his massive body. He finally began to flap them, dragging his huge form into the air, spewing flames at Miguel. Miguel began running along the inner wall of the tunnel. Green Goblin twisted his neck to aim his fire at him. When Miguel ran directly above him, he naturally raised his neck high.

Then, black webbing shot from glands beneath Spider-Man 2099's wrist, sticking to Green Goblin's jaw. Miguel then jumped onto his back, trying to pull Green Goblin's jaw shut to silence him.

With his fiery mouth closed, Green Goblin flapped his wings, crashing into the top of the tunnel, then flew at high speed towards other areas. Miguel, despite the impact, didn't fall off. He held tightly to the webbing, flying along with Green Goblin. Finally, Green Goblin flew out of the collider's experimental area, crashing headfirst into a wider construction site, then ceased flying and began to freefall.

He waited, waiting for this new Spider-Man to swing away on a web. Then, once free, he would blast this guy with fire. But Green Goblin didn't get that moment.

Because he didn't land.

Spider-Man 2099, holding his head, flew through the air, slamming his head directly back into the metal wall of the collider's experimental zone. Under the high-speed impact, Green Goblin's head became directly embedded in the outer wall of the tunnel.

Miguel's claws glowed again. He didn't mind killing Green Goblin outright, but unfortunately, this big guy wasn't so easy to kill. So, he had to inject a larger dose of paralyzing agent with his claws. That small amount earlier hadn't worked; hopefully, this would make Green Goblin sleep a bit longer.
