Chapter 41 Why Me what's going on?

Aveline

No.

It had been two weeks since that kiss. Two weeks since her lips claimed mine like a war I didn't even know I was ready to lose. And yet... everything felt silent. No texts. No mafia-level drama. Just silence so loud it screamed.

Today felt normal, till it didn't.

I was walking with Alia, laughing about something dumb, a typical day in this so-called normal campus life. But as I reached my locker —

I stopped.

Red. Everywhere. Not red like roses. Not red like passion.

Red like rage.

Red like blood.

Red like the words "DIE BITCH" and "FUCK YOU" sprayed across my locker like I was never human to begin with.

I froze.

Alia didn't.

"Aveline—hey hey look at me. Let's get out of here."

She didn't wait for permission, just grabbed my hand and pulled me out of that hallway like my soul was leaking through the tiles.

My place was empty. Mom and Mireline weren't home. It was just us and the suffocating air of shock.

We were in my room, and I was still staring at nothing when she finally said it.

"You need to tell Ruby."

I know she's dumb but why now?

I turned to her like she'd just suggested summoning Lucifer with a glitter pen.

"Are you dumb?" I snapped, voice shaky.

"She's a goddamn mafia queen, Alia. You think she'll just waltz in and have a PTA meeting? No. She'll burn this campus down. She'll break bones without blinking and hang them like trophies on her Lambo mirror. If she finds out someone's fucking bullying me... they won't just regret it. They'll disappear."

Alia raised her hands. "Okay, okay... chill. Then—what about Kai?"

Right. Kai. The boyfriend. The label. The safe choice.

I sighed. "Fine. I'll tell him."

I did.

I did call him after 4 rings he pick up the call and said " hey Aveline is everything okay?"

Well no, Kai you need to come at my place we need to talk that's important. Okay I'll come with that I hung up after 20 minutes later he finally come and we were at my living area.

I was sitting with alia he's across me I told him everything and he...

He sounded... casual.

Almost like I'd told him my pen ran out of ink, not that someone wrote death threats on my locker.

Weird....

And then it didn't stop.

Three weeks later.

I was walking alone when two boys — seniors, probably — blocked me like I wasn't even a person. One grabbed my wrist. Hard.

Too hard.

"To bad for you little bitch like you, no one is going to protect you little beauty". He lean closer and this time he laugh a dry mocking laugh that frog face fuck him!

You know that's that mean "no one's is going to protect you". Be careful Aveline and with that, that frog and fish faces left with smiles one their faces like they didn't just threaten me now.

Fuck off you little piece of shit I'm not afraid of you do whatever you want you perverts. That's my mistake cause they were serious about bullying me.

Damn fuck them !

I didn't even scream.

Alia found me. Again. Took me home. Again.

My wrist burned, but not as much as my trust.

Mireline was home.

And I wanted to tell her. I really did.

But my words were caged in my throat like birds too afraid to fly.

So instead, I hugged her. Tight.

She blinked, surprised. She noticed the mark, her hand gently brushing over my wrist, but she didn't push.

She just said, "Let's go to your room, my little rabbit. I think we need some sister talk. Like the old days. Maybe a bad movie. Definitely snacks."

I nodded.

Not because I was okay.

But because she was right.

Sometimes, silence is safer than truth.

And sometimes… bruises are easier to carry than what comes after.

I'm sure mireline notice my unusual behaviour she definitely did.

I bet she did

I know her too much well .
