I turned around to find Kael standing not far away, his expression filled with suspicion and anger as he looked at us.

"Oh, I ate some red berries from the forest and my lips are feeling a bit numb. I wanted to ask Brent if he had any herbs to counteract the poison," I quickly pushed Brent away, though my cheeks were still burning hot.

Kael glanced at my visibly swollen lips, his face showing a flicker of understanding, but the fury in his eyes only intensified.

"What a nuisance."

As my soulmate, he showed absolutely no concern for my well-being.

"You're my Luna in name, so watch yourself in public. Don't embarrass my pack," he warned in an icy tone.

I nodded, then suddenly feigned a panicked expression.

"Oh no! Lyra, how did you fall into that hunting pit?"

Hearing my words, he hastily turned around. His alpha speed kicked into high gear, and he was about to sprint towards where I was looking in an instant.
