Chapter 70: Pirate Play

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Scatter missiles are usually used either to hit either very manoeuvrable ships which the Slingshot indeed is, however it has limited manoeuvrability in FTL. Or there are countermeasures you need to bypass like now and with more missiles comes a greater chance of hitting the target. Or lastly against large areas you wish to hit since the scatter missiles spread out after they separate from the main launch body and can each target something individually or as a group.]

As soon as the targeting systems locked onto the TD37D-Slingshot the red Fire button started to flash again before Adam pressed it and the chat watched as another missile shot out of the missile rack and flew towards the Slingshot.

The camera view did not change this time because shortly after the missile launched and the Slingshot deployed more countermeasures the missile's front end suddenly opened up and eighteen smaller missiles shot out of it before spreading out and heading in separate directions as they all locked onto separate sources of the same EM signature.

Several of the EM countermeasures had multiple missiles locked onto them, however two missiles also locked onto the TD37D-Slingshot and soon Adam and the chat viewed the same blue explosion that seemed to crackle with lightning as previously but it was more widespread this time just.

As the explosion died down they saw the Slingshot enter a flat spin and start to rotate on its X axis at a strange angle before it started to slow down rapidly and soon dropped out of FTL.

Adam piloted Spector to also leave FTL and they continued to watch as the ship spun slowly out of control for a few moments before it corrected itself and shot off at sub light speed while Adam had Spector pursue.

Naruto_shippuden_6468 (Earth): Oh shit it worked.]

[Devil_Prince_Asura (Deverinian 9): Yeah, the Slingshot's star drive was knocked offline by the EMP blast.]

[Leonthemoneygiver (Earth): How long before it comes back online though?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): That depends on how much of an EMP blast it's star drive received, however I would say a few minutes at least.]

"What the fuck do you want and why are you attacking me?" An angry voice suddenly asked over the comm system."

[adg (Indigo Station): Awww the pilots mad.😂.]

"Former Vice-admiral Cooper, I'm here to take you back to Palaxia to face charges for the crimes you have Committed." Adam replied.

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): Former Vice-admiral, Kek. 😂]

"What rubbish are you talking about, my name is Thomas Jamerson an innocent freelance courier that you just unlawfully attacked, I will have you arrested and imprisoned for this." The voice threatened.

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Oh shit did the streamer get the wrong guy?]

[Werewolf1987 (Caniniar 4): Don't be stupid, he's obviously faking it to try and trick the streamer or enough buy time to escape.]

"I'm afraid your lies won't work here Mr Cooper, also if you're so innocent why are you running?"

"Because you attacked me that's why."

"Yeah ok that question was pointless, my bad." Adam responded to the chat.

 "What the hell are you on about you damn pirate?" 

"What pirate?" Adam asked in surprise.

"Only a pirate would attack an innocent courier vessel, you black hearted pirate."

"Deceitful and black-hearted, perhaps we are. But we would never go against the Code. Well, perhaps for good reasons. But mostly never." Adam replied in a fake pirate tone.

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Calm down there Captain Barbossa, you're not actually a pirate.]

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): Huh???]

"What code? What are you talking about?"

"The pirate code mate." 

"Pirates don't have a code."

"Just because you can't see something, it doesn't mean it's not there." Adam replied now enjoying himself since he could quote lines from one of his favourite film series.

" No, it can't be. I've spent years searching for this? The great Richard Cooper is not some drunk in a cell. Do you even have a ship? A crew? Pants?" Adam asked happily.

"I have no idea what you're going on about but there is no chance you're boarding my ship."

"CANNON FIRE." Adam yelled happily before he opened fire with Spector's two Distortion Repeaters which appeared from compartments on the base of the ship slightly back from where the laser repeaters would appear.

Bolts of energy rapidly shot out of the distortion repeaters and flew towards the Slingshot where they hit the shields and spread out causing electrical discharges causing them to rapidly drain.

Cooper thought the Slingshot's manoeuvrability would help him evade the shots until his star drive came back online, however he did not expect the ship attacking him to be even more manoeuvrable.

"How the fuck are you so manoeuvrable and fast, the Slingshot is the best in that category from Terran Dynamics that civilians are allowed to purchase.

Even with it evading It didn't take long for the Slingshots shields to drop causing the electrical discharges to spread across the ship's hull and start overloading its systems.

"Fuck." 

"Prepare to be boarded matey, gah!" Adam said as the slingshots reactor shut down and it lost all power.

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Damn hope he has a space suit, how much air do you think he has without his artificial atmosphere working.]

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): Who cares, he deserves to die in the vacuum of space as the traitor he is.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): That's cold, but I like it.]

[Tessisdabest (Imperial Down): The streamer needs to capture him so that Palaxia can interrogate him.]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): I would say a few hours on a ship that size, however It's not the remaining amount of air that's the problem, it's the carbon dioxide. Without a functioning artificial atmosphere the carbon dioxide will continue to build until he suffocates to death unless he does indeed have a space suit.]

"Go alongside and begin docking with the Slingshot while I head for the armoury." Adam said as got up from his seat and left the cockpit.

"Affirmative." Spector responded.

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): The Armour lets gooooo.]

Unfortunately for Gunlovergirl the stream's view did not follow Adam to the armoury and instead showed the Spector moving its docking hatch alongside the Slingshot's before extending a docking bridge to link both ships together.

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Fuck you streamer.]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Kekeke.]

"Docking complete, I have stabilized the air pressure of the docking bridge to match the slingshot and you can proceed when ready." Spector reported as Adam approached the docking hatch airlock in his anti-gravity armour.

[Justiceistruth: (Earth): You know the guy is just going to open fire as soon as the Streamer attempts to board his ship.]

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): You have a point.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): He's surely not just going to run straight in, right?]

Adam stood next to the docking hatches airlock for a moment thinking before he pressed a button and opened it.

As he stepped inside the airlock the door behind him closed and the air pressure started to change as Adam activated the hood of his anti-gravity armour. Soon the air pressure had matched that of the docking bridge and Adam pressed a button to open the next airlock.
