Rem and Ram scream when they're awakened by strong bursts of electricity going through them. When a few minutes have passed the pain finally stops allowing them to whimper in relief. After the harsh wake-up call, they try moving only to find themselves chained to chairs and strapped with matching metal headbands. While trying to escape they're then greeted by Maia's derision.

Maia: "Oh, don't get up on my account, please sit done." She then clicks a button and the chairs start zapping them again. When satisfied Maia stops punishing them for their disobedience.

The oni twins stop struggling knowing it's pointless to try and escape, they instead choose to survey the area. The place they're in is an empty blue room this time, before they can ask a question Maia begins talking.

Maia: "Glad to see you two are awake now, I went through a lot of trouble to make sure you're both comfortable for what comes next." She finished her words with a condescending smile.

Ram: "What are you going to do with us now?" Her voice lacks the usual vigor after dying at Emilia's hand. Being frozen to death will be something she will never recover from.

Maia: "What's this? Did that single death really break you, and here I am thinking you were much stronger than that." Shaking her head in disappointment.

Rem: "Maia-san death is not something trivial that can be ignored, no sane person could be fine after the experience." Rem states something that any regular person would agree with.

When Rem finished Maia started laughing and that action brought fear to the demon.

Maia: "Hahahahahaha! That's right. No person would be sane after dying." Pulling out her remote she points it at the oni making them recoil in fear. Seeing this brings a smile to her face, she clicks the orange button.

Maia: "The punishment I think that will fit you. Is walking a mile in Subaru's shoes." The room starts to light up and they appear in the middle of the capital. Where they see Subaru standing and looking everywhere in curiosity.

Rem: "Why are we here?" Looking around Rem searches for what would bring them pain.

Maia: "Allow me to explain, those headbands aren't just for looking fashionable, it will connect you to Subaru in almost every way. Whether it be touch, smell, sight, taste, and hearing. To sum things up you will become Subaru during his journey in your world."

Ram: She can't be thinking of doing that can she. The realization hits her too late as Maia explains.

Maia: "If you haven't already guessed it already, every death Subaru went through you'll have the pleasure of experiencing."

The dread Rem and Ram feel seems to multiply by the second as they struggle to get loose from their bindings. Only there's nothing they can do before the power of this daemon.

Maia: "Let's speed things up shall we." She gives the remote another click.

Suddenly it's night time and they are in the slums when Subaru is about to enter the loot house. Rem and Ram's horror can only grow knowing what's going to happen next. When Subaru enters he's attacked by Elsa and has his stomach cut open.

Subaru looked down at his body and noticed through the dimly lit room, he was bleeding. Subaru couldn't stop himself from puking, blood started gushing out of his mouth as his entrails littered the floor, seeping between the tiles. The boy grasps his innards in futility, gasping for air that will never fill his lungs. Lastly, darkness consuming his vision.

Like a mirror Rem and Ram experience the same thing. The way the blade cut through their stomach, how blood kept spilling out of their mouths, and then their bodies losing warmth as everything fades to black.

Then like it was never there, the pain disappears leaving Rem and Ram gasping for air wondering if what they experienced was a lucid dream. The feeling of death was enough to tear apart someone's mentality. When everything slows down and you feel yourself slip into oblivion.

The house they were in disappears and the room returns to its blue color, the twins don't even notice as they return to normal, but still having their bodies experience death.

Rem can only wither in the chair as the phantom pain of having her stomach cut open constantly surges through her body. Her reaction was much better compared to Ram's, after all this was her first death.

Ram: "AHHHHH!" All she can do is scream hoping the action will drive the darkness away.

The second death felt like it would make her mind collapse and just when it might actually happen it's interrupted by a strong shock.

*BZZAP*

Whatever negative emotions they were feeling was stopped. Making them wonder if it was there in the first place. The emotions weren't gone either rather they suppressed to a deep part of their mind like it only needs a little nudge to bring it back. Maia soon explains what happened just now.

Maia: "Sorry I wanted that special feature of the headbands to stay secret for a while longer, but you two have such weak spirits that, it activated by itself."

She may have apologized, but it didn't sound sincere at all. She even went as far as to blame them for the pain she put them through. Rather they think she's happy, why else would her smile widen so much.

Maia: "Since your still reeling from dying let me explain my gift. Another feature of the headband is when your emotions reach a high enough level that it becomes detrimental the headbands will then force them back down, not erase them. This effect will only kick in after the deaths, not during them."

Wanting to address the problem Maia skipped Ram speaks up.

Ram: "What about the electricity what part does that play?"

Maia: "It's basically an alarm for when your emotions will be temporarily be suppressed, is what I'd like to say, but in all honesty, I just added it for fun." Not trying to hide the truth she smirks.

Ram and Rem wonder why they're still surprised. Since the moment they met Maia she has never hidden the contempt she feels for them, rather she goes out of her way to show it.

Maia: "Well I don't want to interrupt your punishment anymore. So I'll be standing behind the wall I'm about to raise and enjoy your misery from there." Taking a few steps until she has the perfect position to watch. "Oh yeah even if it feels like your limps have been ripped off you'll still keep them." She finishes as a wall is raised between them. "Have fun with that!"

The last thing Ram and Rem see before the wall was raised is Maia grinning from ear to ear, informing them of their new hell. The trepidation they feel increases as the area around them changes again to when they see Subaru in the capital.

The second death hits them with burning pain brought by having their stomachs open. It feels so hot, different from the first where they lost heat. The last thing they hear is Elsa complementing the bowels.

The third death is caused by another knife, but this time it's from being stapped and bleeding out in the alleyway. The three thieves leave them alone on the ground.

They can only accept the deaths they're given and every time it feels like they will break, the headbands activate with a shock to suppress it. Maia killing them once would have been preferable to this nightmare.

Next the scenery changes to something familiar. The Roswaal mansion the place they spent most of their time growing up. They know what's about to come, Subaru dying at their hands.

Their first death at the mansion was not what they were expecting. Dying while sleeping, except for the chills there was no pain. It was a peaceful death compared to the three before. Slowly they started to recover from their traumatic deaths. Maybe then can get through the multiple deaths without their mind breaking. Yes, they can do this, they just need to grit their teeth and bear it.

Maia: "Oh I can't have you thinking that now, can I ?"

Their warden's voice destroyed that hope. Like a child kicking over a sandcastle.

They watch Subaru sitting in a chair trying to stave off sleep, a battle he was clearly losing. That was until he jumped out of his chair only to then fall to his knees as if all his strength was taken from him. Finally regaining some power to stand he started stumbling around weirdly as if he was poisoned. He makes it into the hallway and tries calling for help.

Rem is the first to notice the signs knowing that the cause was the curse.

Rem: "Sister the killing curse has activated!"

Ram: "I know Rem we just need to stay c..." *BLURGH!* Whatever she was about to say was interrupted her spewing the contents of her stomach all over herself.

Rem: "Sis..." *BLURGH!* Rem soon joined Ram in puking out her stomach.

Even with the effects of the curse they still heard the sound of a familiar weapon.

*Chain sounds*

Rem: "No it can't be me!"

Too bad the universe decided to prove her wrong by having Subaru losing his right arm to the surprise attack caused by her flail hitting him. Their faces immediately contorting from the excruciating pain. All they can do is scream from the pain caused by having a limb torn off, the killing curse draining their vitality, and making them puke out their guts is not helping either.

Ram: "... Pl... ease... end me." BLURGH!* She can barely beg for a swift end, between the puking.

That wish was going to be granted, violently that is.

*Chain sounds*

Then in an instant, something dark was thrown at Subaru prone form, blowing his head into pieces. The explosion of blood and brain matter showered over the demon twin's bodies.

The violent end was too much for their minds. They began screaming while trying to break free from their bonds. This action was swiftly met with another discharge of electricity and headbands bring them done from the emotional high. Finally able to think rationally they simply flex their hands open and close reassuring themselves that all their limbs are accounted for.

The previous murder really messed them up and it shows. The few spasms now and then are the sole indicator they're somewhat functioning for the next part.

Breathing heavily as if horrified by another upcoming murder, they were not wrong as they appear in the woods near the mansion with Rem hunting down Subaru. They try to close their eyes and ignore the sounds of what will happen next, but whatever Maia did made it impossible to turn away from this death.

This is something they will get the full experience of.

Subaru is brought down courtesy of wind magic from Ram making it easy for Rem to catch up to him. Then what follows is torture in the guise of an interrogation.

Suddenly, the world freezes bringing confusion to the demons but it's soon addressed by their warden.

The viewing was stopped by Maia who decides to add icing on this suffering cake.

Maia: "I thought it would be better to see how badly your betrayal hurt Subaru so let's take a few steps back to during previous loops and really drive the point home.

They are then presented by Ram and Subaru setting at a desk while teaches him to read and write.

Subaru: "Still even if you did it to make your life easier, it made me happy. Honestly, I had a feeling you didn't like me much, and I'll probably cause more problems for you down the line. I hate to weigh you down, but thanks. I want to be useful as soon as possible."

Subaru was thanking her from the bottom of his heart for then and for the future. Someone he believed from deep in his heart to be his friend.

Ram keeps her head down in shame after hearing someone she believed to be a monster give her an honest thank you. From what is shown she can tell he whole hardly trusts her too when she at every turn showed him were doubts.

They see Subaru and Rem walking from Irlam village with groceries in hand talking to each other.

Rem: "Do you like demons?"

Subaru: "Well, gods generally don't do anything, but demons will laugh along when you talk about the future. Especially for next year and stuff. They'll laugh their heads off."

Rem suddenly stops and looks at Subaru. He looks at her.

She mesmerizes him with a truly beautiful smile.

This interaction shows Subaru never gave a thought of Rem actually killing. As if the very thought was something foreign to him. After all, how can someone who gave such a beautiful smile to him hurt in the worst ways possible?

Rem let tears stream from her puff eyes knowing she was the one that hurt him the most. That this situation was brought upon because of her actions. She realizes how disgusting she is for taking out her anger on an innocent person.

Maia: "Let's get back on track to your original viewing."

They go back to the scene of Rem torturing Subaru with heavy hearts knowing it will show an even uglier side to themselves.

Rem glared down at the boy with gritted teeth while her eyes shined with rage.

Rem: "Your bald-faced lies can only take you so far when the witch's scent lies so thickly upon you!" Rem yelled out with hatred as she glared down at him.

Rem: " He's not lying so just stop lord, please lord make it stop." With tears in her eyes, she begs.

Rem: "I can't bear it any longer. Even if I know my sister only acts friendly with you, and only pretends to care for you!" Rem shouted at him.

Subaru's heart broke in two. His terror shaking him from the toes to his very eyes as they began leaking streams of betrayed tears.

Ram's heart breaks in two knowing what Rem said is true. She pretended to be his friend and hurt him immensely.

Subaru: "Why don't you remember?!" Screaming and gasping in pain as he slowly sat up, his body bleeding more and shocking his nerves with unparalleled agony.

Those words stabbed into them like knives. He carried the burden from previous loops but held strong for everyone at the mansion only to receive this in return.

Subaru: "Why do you all keep leaving me behind? What did I do to you?!"

Rem: "S-sorry I'm so sorry I did this to you." She manages to choke out in misery.

Subaru: "What am I supposed to do?!" Subaru glared hatefully at Rem with his tears flowing all over his face.

Tears ran down both twins' cheeks as they watched the pain he was in.

His head shook as the pain intensified, further fueling his anger and tears.

"What did I do wrong?!"

Ram: "You didn't do anything wrong, it's our fault." Guilt gnawing her from the inside.

He screamed at her for an answer to this pain. This unjust, undeserved pain.

Subaru: "Why do guys hate me so much?!"

Ram: "Our hate was irrational and we used you as an outlet." She knows he could have been captured and question at a later time, not killed in the woods by them. Anything would have better than allowing this to happen.

Subaru: "I really loved both of y-" *SPLASH *

Subaru couldn't finish as a sudden wind blade cut his throat open.

Natsuki Subaru died...

The last thing the twins see before darkness takes them is the alternate Rem giving them a cold look of disgust.

Whistling a tune Maia lowers the wall and walks with a bucket of water in each hand towards the unconscious oni. Once she's a few steps away from them, she promptly douses them washing away the leftover puke and waking them up.

*Splash*

Rem: "W-what happen!?"

Ram: "Why are we wet?"

It seems the lastest death has disoriented them greatly making them in need of a more effective wake-up. Good thing Maia is here to give them that wake-up call.

Maia: "Oh no it looks like your both still half asleep. Don't worry I'll give you something nice to wake you up."

Hearing Maia's voice finally snapped them out of it and they try telling her, but it comes too late.

Ram: "W-wait we're fine now you don't have..." Her voice is cut off by another shock.

*BZZAP*

What followed was music to Maia's ears, anguished screams of the Oni.

Maia: "Too bad you should have responded quicker than that." She sent them a smug smile.

Except for heavy breathing the room silent until Rem murmured something under her breath.

Maia: "Speak up demon I can't hear you clearly unless you say it out loud."

Rem: "I said why won't you just kill us already?!"

Ram: "She's right there's no need to drag this punishment out just finish us off already!"

Maia quickly becomes stone-faced after listening to the twin's pleas for a swift release.

Maia: "I already knew you were trash, but I didn't think you could be any lower."

Maia: "The answer is no and by no I mean hell no."

Maia stares down at the Oni, her aura stopping them from making a sound.

Maia: "Rem didn't Subaru beg you and didn't you answer his pleas with violence. Also, Ram didn't you push Subaru over the edge."

Ram and Rem can only hang their heads in guilt, eyes watering as their hearts shattered again by the memories playing in their mind.

Maia: Man their reactions are starting to get stale what can I show that will break them.

Maia closes her eyes while thinking of something else to torture the twins with. This action doesn't go unnoticed by the twins as they stay silent lest they anger her more.

Maia stood there for what felt like minutes until she gets a perfect idea. She immediately decides to put it into practice. Finally opening her eyes she gives the Oni a whimsical look.

Ram and Rem look upon her in fear.

Maia: "You always want to take to the easy way out. No wonder your master let you die."

Maia gives them a vicious truth all while wearing a smile. Naturally, they try to deny her words, Roswaal is the man who raised them after they lost their home to the witch cult. They've lived with him for years there no way he would allow them to come to harm.

Ram: "You're lying! Roswaal-sama is one greatest people in the world! He taught and clothed us when we had nowhere to go! There's no way Roswaal-sama would do such a thing!" She yelled in denial.

Being a vehement supporter of her lord Ram is the first to defend him against this slander.

Rem: "Rem agrees with sister Roswaal-sama has looked after us for a long time there's no way he standby when one of us was in danger." She couldn't and wouldn't believe it.

Maia just laughs coldly at the Oni's resistance to something that has been proven to be true. She then gives them indisputable facts.

Maia: "Roswaal is the strongest magician in Lugnica with a library filled with vast knowledge on magic. Him being able to identify a simple curse from an Ulgarm would be easy. His yellow eye can break magic with a glance. He knew Rem was cursed, but still chose to do nothing." She cruelly replied. [1]

Ram looked like someone whose world had been completely pulverized and hoped everything she heard was a lie.

Rem has an easier time believing it. She knows Roswaal strength first hand and that's why she doesn't argue with the point Maia made, but she wonders why Roswaal would do nothing.

Rem: "Why didn't he remove the curse from Rem?"

Ram sends her sister a betrayed look for believing what she deemed to be Maia's lies.

Ram: "Rem how can you doubt Roswaal-sama after the kindness he's shown us. She's probably lying to hurt us more."

Rem: "Wake up sister she doesn't need to lie rather she has been telling the truth this whole time knowing it will hurt us more." She casts a glance to their captor for confirmation.

Maia: "Careful it's learning."

That response might as well be a yes.

Ram deep down in her heart knows it's true that the man she loved condemned her sister to an early grave and that's why tears begin to fall from her eyes in realization.

Ram: "Why?!"

Maia: "That's a rather ambiguous question, but if you really want to know the reason is simple Roswaal wanted to break Subaru, or more specifically he wanted control over his time looping ability."

Ram and Rem's eyes widen at the implication.

Rem: "H-how did he know about it?"

Maia: "He had a certain item that could tell the future. You two know the function of the gospel witch cultists uses right?"

Ram: "It's rumored that the gospels tell them the future."

Getting a nod from Maia in return.

Rem: "That means Roswaal had a gospel! Are you telling me he was a witch cultist?!" Disgust was clear in her voice. She doesn't even add Sama to his name.

Maia: *Sigh* "He wasn't but in all honestly I'm still debating which is worse him or the cult."

Maia: "The gospel they use is just an inferior copy of the Book of Wisdom which was made by the witch of greed Echidna."

Rem: "What do you mean by inferior?"

Maia: "They're inferior because it gives a possible route to a future they desire through vague details. Echidna's book of wisdom allows her to draw knowledge from the world's memory to tell a complete future, but it's too much for regular people to handle. That's why she made two copies of her book that can use a fraction of the original's power. Roswaal holds one of them."

Rem & Ram: If he knew about the future. What else did he know about? They thought in unison

Ram and Rem gasp together as the realization dawns on them. Roswaal probably knew about Subaru before he even came to their world.

Maia: "I would tell you more about the crimes he's committed but I think it's better to show you."

With a click from her remote, they're taken to another memory.

They appear in a cabin and see Subaru arguing with Roswaal.

Maia: "Hope you enjoy seeing just what type of man you worked under all these years."

They watch the situation become more heated before Subaru asks certain questions.

Subaru: "The attack on Irlam. Did you hire the Mabeast user?"

Ram and Rem listening to the conversation were shocked to hear that question, but not as much as when they heard Roswaal's answer.

Roswaal: "Correct! I wanted to see how you personally overcame that hurdle."

Subaru: "Rem and Ram could have died if one of them was cursed instead of me!"

Roswaal: "I had complete faith you would do your best to save them."

Ram: "He's the one who caused it to happen." Ram's jaw dropped.

Maia: "How do you think the Mabeast user knew how to get past the barrier in the first place." [2]

Maia's response stops their hearts cold. The Mabeast user should not have known about the barrier unless someone who familiar with it told them.

Subaru then asks something that has the Oni's blood boiling.

Subaru: "The oni tribe was probably strong so how could they lose to a group of witch cultists? Did you have a hand in that too?"

Roswaal: "Yes, I was partially involved in the destruction of the Hidden Oni Village and their tribe. All according to the Gospel. Too bad about the Oni tribe but they had to go.

Not an ounce of guilt was felt from him after announcing his participation.

Silence. That's all there is from Ram and Rem after hearing Roswaal admitting his involvement in the destruction of their home.

Subaru: "Don't you care about your subordinates?! You let their precious family and friends die!"

Roswaal: "Well, if they gotta go, then it must be within the gospel that they gotta go."

For Rem learning that she's been living with a madman for 8 long years. A man that betrayed her trust. Her parents, her village are all gone because of this monster's scheme. Her mentality felt like was being chipped apart, but more than anything she wants to murder this raving lunatic.

Ram always had an inkling that he might have been involved in, but to hear from his mouth is another thing altogether. She loved Roswaal, supported him at every turn, but right now she doesn't even recognize him. This man is rotten to his core. [3]

Whatever they were thinking was interrupted by Subaru's righteous anger.

Subaru: "Rem and Ram had a horrible childhood because of you! Don't you care about what you've done to them?!"

Roswaal: "Of course I care about them after all it wouldn't be good for my tools to break before I finished using them."

Rem and Ram's jaws drop at Roswaal's true feeling about them.

Subaru: "I see... You only see them as tools and weapons for your personal gain and nothing else." He practically spits out in disgust.

Roswaal: "My will is my will and what I want I get whatever sacrifices are needed they need to be and my tools have a job-well-done and served me well."

Subaru: "You're crazy."

Roswaal: "Yes, I have always been crazy. Beyond crazy." Rather than deny it, he agrees with Subaru's assessment.

Roswaal's left yellow eye then stares at Subaru.

Roswaal: "Tell me, Subaru-kun, have you gone crazy yet? Are you like me yet?"

Subaru: "No, I'll never become someone heartless like you!"

The room was silent before Roswaal spoke again, but this time in a cold tone.

Roswaal: "It seems you don't understand your situation enough Subaru-kun."

Taking out some kind of Metia he makes a call.

Roswaal: "Please come to my room it's important."

Roswaal's face turns blank.

Roswaal: "It looks like I have to show you how weak your resolve is."

Subaru feels a pit form in his stomach at Roswaals response.

The twins who are watching aren't doing any better.

Rem & Ram: What is this feeling of dread that is coming over me? The two think in unison.

Subaru and Roswaal stared at each other for what felt like hours before being interrupted.

Ram: "Roswaal-sama I've come as you have requested."

Subaru: "Ram what are you doing here?"

She ignores him and walks until she in front of Roswaal's bed.

Roswaal: "Good job Ram thanks for arriving here so fast when I thought you would be busy."

Ram: "Of course Roswaal-sama's commands take precedence over everything else."

Ram answers him with her usual loyalty.

Roswaal: "Now let's move onto why your here Ram. It seems Subaru-kun has been acting unruly and needs to be punished."

Ram's eyes turn cold before replying.

Ram: "Don't worry Roswaal-sama you do not need to dirty your hands Barusu. I will punish him myself."

Maia: "Wow! No hesitation as expected of that clown's tool."

Ram flinches. She wants to say something, but she knows it's true she was his tool.

Subaru: "Ram what the hell?!"

Subaru's not even trying to keep his shock quiet.

Subaru: "Do you know the number of crimes this man has committed?!"

Subaru gets his left cheek cut by wind magic for his outburst.

Ram: "Please Lord don't make me kill him again."

Maia: "Don't worry I promise you Subaru won't be killed by you."

Surprisingly Maia gives Ram hope.

Maia: I never said you wouldn't be killed though.

She quickly hides her grin before they can see it.

Ram: "Be silent Barasu! I won't allow you to slander Roswaal-sama any longer!"

Subaru wants to scream all the crimes Roswaal has committed, but he knows nobody would believe him.

Roswaal: "You really are a good follower Ram."

Hearing Roswaal's thanks Ram is about to give a reply, but is met with something shocking.

Ram's chest had been pierced through from behind by Roswaal's arm.

Rem and Ram feel the same pain going through them. What makes it worse is the feeling of betrayal that comes along with it. They can barely breathe through the pain.

Rem: "I thought we were only supposed to be connected to Subaru."

Maia: "I never said you couldn't be connected to anyone else though, be glad I didn't make you die this time." Replying with a mischievous grin.

Ram: "Ros..."

Roswaal: "Thank you for your service Ram."

He then ripes his arm free from her body.

Subaru: "RAM!"

Subaru rushes forth to catch her body before it can hit the ground.

When Ram lands in arms she's already dead.

Roswaal: "Look at what you've caused Natsuki Subaru, it was your lack of resolve that led me to kill Ram."

Ram and Rem are looking as if they've seen Roswaal for the first time.

With anguished tears, Subaru looks at Roswaal.

Subaru: "Why are you doing this?"

Roswaal: "To build your resolve of course."

Subaru: "My resolve?"

Roswaal: "Ever since you came into this world, your life has been in my hands."

Subaru then realizes. Every problem can be traced back to Roswaal.

Rem: "So it's true he knew even before the beginning." Rem's tone is flat.

Subaru: "This whole time you've been..."

Ignoring Subaru. Roswaal continues.

Roswaal: "I gave you challenges to see how well your resolve would be strengthened."

Subaru: "You want me to become single-minded like you are and focus on my goals even if that means forsaking everything else."

Roswaal: "Yes with your power even if there are mistakes in my predictions, so long as something isn't in its place I can count on you to try and fix it."

Subaru: "I'll never give in to your twisted plans." He grits out.

Roswaal: "You have to Subaru-kun after all isn't Ram dead."

Subaru freezes in another realization.

Roswaal: "I see you noticed another part of your problem is how you want to protect people close to you."

Roswaal smiles like the true monster he is.

Roswaal: "I don't have to fear my own demise because the sisters will come to protect me, and you want them to live. That means you will protect me by extension."

Memory end...

Ram and Rem can't say anything because they know it's true. Subaru would go to great lengths if it meant protecting them even with the threat of death.

Maia: "It's sad in all honesty Roswaal the man you knew for years was willing to throw you away if it meant accomplishing his goals, but Subaru who you knew for a shorter time would go to any length to make you happy."

With that final sentence, Ram's emotions break free.

Ram: "AHHHAAA...!" She wails out in anger and sadness tears that hold pain running down her face. Her love for Roswaal is completely lost. All she wants to do is find and kill him brutally.

Rem is showing waterfalls of tears, looking at her sister she knows what she's feeling is the greatest of negative emotions. She wants to support her sister, but after Roswaal showed his true colors it's making it difficult for her to even operate.

Maia: "If you're done having your little pity party it's time to move onto the finale."

With the grace of an elephant in a china shop, Maia decides to cut in.

Ram gives a weak tear-filled glare in her direction. Haven't they suffered enough?! What more does this daemon want from them?

Maia: "Don't worry I said finale didn't I. That means after this last one you won't see me anymore."

The twins have doubts that she would let them go after everything they did Subaru. Rem decides to voice her thoughts.

Rem: "Forgive me if I don't believe you, but what's the occasion?"

Maia: "Oh trust me if I had more time then this would last longer, but..."

She lifts her arm and shows it flickering in and out of existence. Greatly surprising the twins.

Maia: "It's like I said at the beginning I was born from Subaru's soul. Now that he's gone I shouldn't be allowed to exist. *Sigh* "The only reason I've last so long is because of all the power I'm burning through."

Taking her remote out for its last mission, she gives it a click making the chairs the oni are sitting on disappear. Strangely their headbands stay on and change to the color black. Ram and Rem send Maia a questioning look which she ignores.

Maia: "Since this is the last we will see of each other. I've decided to make it count."

With a snap of her fingers, she severs the Synesthesia between Ram and Rem.

Ram: "What did you do?!"

Rem: "I can't feel sister anymore!"

Both twins start panicking from their lost connection.

Maia: "You were using Synesthesia to migrate some of the negative emotions from Subaru so I blocked it." She wags her finger in front of them as if scolding a child.

Ram and Rem flinch at being caught redhanded.

Next, a wall falls between the twins separating them.

Ram: "REM!

She rushes towards the wall in a vain attempt to knock it down.

She turns to yell at Maia but is greeted by the sight of two of her. Dumbfounded she can only stare as one quickly disappears making her wonder if she imagined it.

Ram: "What the-"

Ram wants to ask a question but is stopped by Maia.

Maia: "Don't worry my double is going to handle Rem while we spend time together."

Ram: "What do plan on doing to me now?"

Ram tries moving away from Maia but it feels as if she is rooted to the ground. Making Maia smile at her futile efforts.

With a pulse of power the room changes again.

They seem to be in a church with Subaru being tied up. A tall woman with purple hair and red eyes stands over him.

Subaru: "Sakura! Why are you doing this?! Aren't we supposed to be friends?!"

Subaru desperately calls out to the recently named woman.

Maia: "You know... I've seen countless versions of Subaru go insane. So I thought it would be fun if you lived through one of the deaths Purge King Subaru had suffered because he was trying to save you."

Ram: "Why would he need to save me?"

Maia: "Ram you kept dying from mana poisoning and needed pyroxene crystal to survive, which were expensive. So Subaru became a merchant using ideas from his world to pay for them." [4]

Ram: "He really did all that for me?"

Maia: "Yes he did. But because of that people kept betraying him for his ideas and then they killed him." [5]

Ram thinks back to all those times Subaru would bring pyroxene crystals. She never questioned how he was able to have so many. She never appreciated how Subaru would try to keep her alive and every time they met she would greet with scorn.

Ram: So even then I still hurt him. Ram's expression turns pained as continues to watch Subaru.

Sakura: "Sorry Subaru, but I was ordered to get close to you by my client.'

Subaru: "Wha..."

Ignoring Subaru's dumbfounded face she continues.

Sakura: "My client has been after your ideas for a while and ordered me to steal them from you. But the only way I could do that is if you trust me.

Subaru felt like he was a fool.

*Buzz*

His thoughts end when hears the sound of bugs.

He turns and sees what appears to be green wasps all over the walls.

Sakura: "I see you've noticed my pets."

One of the wasps land on her shoulder.

Sakura: "These are a type of demon beast called Mana Wasps that I control with my Divine protection."

*Buzz*

The buzzing makes a pit form in Subaru's stomach from fear. (That's not the only thing that will go in your stomach.)

Sakura: "Now Subaru I can't prolong this anymore, so this is goodbye."

Subaru: "Wait Sakura you don't have to do this! You can still turn back!"

Sakura: "I'm sorry Subaru, but if it's any consolation I did think of you as a friend."

Maia: "I'll let you enjoy the taste of this whole experience by yourself now."

She then teleports out leaving Ram worrying over her ominous message.

Author's Note: These next death come from the Re: Zero game Prophecy of the Throne. I got to hand it to them they made it a brutal way for Subaru to go, so I thought it would be fun to include it in my story.

[Ram Pov]

The moment Sakura snaps her fingers, a squirming insect slides into my mouth. The repulsive, slimy feeling utterly dominates me.

Ram: "Urrgghh!"

Sakura: "Kyahaha. Do you want to vomit? Do you? Oh, but you can't. You're not allowed to. In fact...here are your seconds."

Ram: "Ng"

One after another, the insects slide into my mouth at Sakura's command.

From my mouth, down my throat, and into my stomach. I try to resist, but bug after bug invades me.

Sakura: "Very well. Out of respect for our past friendship, I will not draw this out any longer."

Sakura: "In any case, nothing is left to obstruct my client's commands, so I'll just deal with everything else later."

Sakura: "Now, my dear friend. Your belly will soon swell, then...pop!"

Sakura's disgusting shouts fill my ears. The next moment, the bugs squirm inside my stomach...

In my final moments, I hear a voice call out to me.

Maia: "This is what it means to suffer... I hope you're happy with your new hell demon."

Maia's voice of contempt still manages to reach her.

Ram: I see... so this is what hell is like. No hope only despair.

Ram: "Gah."

*POP*

...I burst.

The memory ends.

Ram: "Urgh..."

A pale-faced Ram falls to her knees and starts heaving the contents of her stomach all over the floor.

Ram: I can't speak. My head hurts. A repulsive sensation crawls through my organs. I know I'm just imagining it, but it feels all too real.

Another wave of nausea passes over making empty the rest of her stomach. Her stomach should have been emptied a long time ago, but it just won't stop flowing.

Ram: After all, I'd been filled to literal bursting with bugs. No more... I can't any more of this.

She feels her mind deteriorates more, just to be stopped again by the power of the headband but without the shock this time. The only good(?) thing about this is the headband is preventing her from going insane.

Maia: "Hey vomit girl I thought I should warn you that you'll keep going through deaths back to back with no rest." Her snarky voice reaches Ram.

Ram loses all color at the warning. She wonders if going insane would be merciful at this point.

Ram: "I thought you said this would the final punishment?!"

She receives a burst of mocking laughter in return.

Maia: "I said finale not final. I'll end this with something special after all it would be too boring to end things with one death, that's why I'll use my remaining power to make your pain last longer."

Ram only feels helpless under Maia's power. She wants to scream every profanity, struggle just about anything to get away, but she knows it's only a pipe dream.

Maia: "Oh wait, I added some new features for you. The headbands now connect you to Subaru on an emotional level too. Also, I turned up the time dilation, so your deaths might last for what feels like hours. If you don't understand let me tell you only 10 seconds have passed out here while an hour has passed for you."

Rem: "No! No! Please don't do this!" She breaks down in desperate pleas.

Maia: "You sure do like to beg a lot, but no dice. When a tool like you has lost its purpose it's only fit for it to be disposed of." She states matter of factly.

Her pleas ended on deaf ears.

Ram: "NNOOOOOO!" She screams out in pure terror.

Maia: "Now please be a good tool and fade away in this world of memories Ram."

Just like that the world around her begins to change. This is her own personal hell.

[Rem]

Rem: "Sister!"

Banging on the recently risen wall, Rem continues to try and reach Ram, but the wall doesn't even budge under her superior Oni strength.

Maia: "You know you really need to learn how to stay quiet."

Rem turns to ask Maia some questions, but Maia seems to be fed up being asked questions too many times especially when the questions come from Rem. She closes the distance between them in an instance, and her fist shoots towards Rem's unprotected belly.

*Wham!*

Rem falls to her knees after receiving a devastating blow to the stomach courtesy of Maia's fist.

Rem: "Urgh..."

Rem tries to catch her breath, but Maia gives her a blow to the temple knocking her to the ground where she's then viciously kicked in the stomach making Rem cough out blood.

Maia: "You know I always wanted to this for a long time." She says whimsically while standing over Rem.

Maia kicked her abdomen continuously. Rem coughed out more and more blood but Maia didn't stop, as the kicks kept coming. Rem tries to defend herself, but the blows are too strong.

Maia holds enough strength back not to kill her, but she wishes she didn't have to because the punching bag she's using right now holds the most responsibility of creating the Purge King. And don't get her started on when Rem sent Subaru back into the arms of Emilia during the Witch Cult attack. She was so close to fixing Subaru then she dropped the ball. To say she despises Rem is an understatement. [6]

Maia: "As much as I want to release the rest of my pent-up anger. I would rather explain your situation and then leave you to suffer." With a herculean effort, Maia decides to stop... After giving one last kick for extra measure.

*Cough*

Rem shakily gets to her feet and rubs her stomach to relieve some of the pain. She can barely get air in her lungs to speak.

Rem: "Wh-where i-is my sister?" She guards her stomach before asking a question.

Maia: "She's getting the same treatment as you."

Rem: Sending her a pointed look. "So you gave her a beating too."

Maia: "Actually no I haven't even touched her." Rem stares at her in suspicion, seeing Maia decides to explain. "The only reason I hit you is that I hate you more than Ram." A simple answer for a simple question. But that answer has Rem flinching.

Rem lowered her head as she knows it was mostly her fault for attacking Subaru that led to this result. She can only stand there as Maia explains that she'll experience back-to-back deaths along with the time dilation while she will become emotionally tied to Subaru. But Rem is only half listening, as her thoughts become more negative. It was her fault her sister lost her horn. It was her fault that she's in this situation. Everything is always her fault. Why can't she do anything right? Why was she born if all she does is ruin everything she touches?

*Snap* *Snap*

Her downward spiral is ended by Maia snapping her fingers in front of her face.

Maia: "Here I am being nice enough to explain things but it looks like your too busy in your own world to listen. Hmph!"

Maia looks at Rem in disappointment she was hoping for a more emotional response. Clicking her tongue she decides to move on thinking Rem will give a better reaction later.

The room changes to the alleyways of the capital with Subaru walking down the roads.

Maia is about to start talking when she senses a familiar presence enter her radar. It was dark, powerful, and most of all filled with a love-induced madness. There could only be one person with that kind of aura, Satella. Scowling at the thought of dealing with that selfish witch, Maia prepares herself to face Envy already know what her goal is.

Maia: The only reason the witch of envy would be here is for Subaru. She must be planning making reset again even though he accepted his death, she can't even let him die in peace.

Maia: "Rem looks like our talk is going to have to be cut short. I have to deal with my own warden now."

Hearing Maia has her own warden surprises Rem after all in the time she spent with Maia she seemed all-powerful. How can she be a prisoner here?

Maia: "Isn't obvious by now, Satella wants Subaru to herself and won't let anyone stand in the way even I'm not excluded. I know you're confused so let explain. Some of the things you've seen until now have been other timelines where Subaru made different choices."

Rem: "Different choices?"

Maia: "Yes, like in another time Subaru was able to save you from being cursed."

Rem: "In another time Rem was saved? What could he have done differently to make that happen?" She can't help but wonder what that world looks like. Was just as bad as this one or did it have a happy ending?

Maia: "Moving on, I may be a part of Subaru but because I hold knowledge of what could have been she decided to remove me from the equation. Hence I wasn't able to keep Subaru from dying. Just another thing Satella ruined with her so-called love." She can't help but shake her head at the witch's expression of love, the less said about Return by Death the better. Done with her explanation Maia prepares to leave.

Rem: "Wa-wait! I still have more questions!" Trying to stop Maia's departure, she requests more answers.

Maia: "Sorry, but I can't push this meeting back. Who knows how much damage she might cause if I don't confront her." Brushing past Rem Maia gives her some parting words. "You know, even after everything you've done you're still loved."

Rem: "L-love... What do mean by love?" Why can't she get a straight answer instead of a riddle? How can she be loved?

Maia: "You should pay more attention to your surroundings." The daemon's voice reaches Rem even she was gone.

Her warning comes too late for Rem. A fireball shoots past Rem and heads toward the unexpecting Subaru, making Rem's eyes widen.

[Rem Pov]

*Boooom!*

Rem: "G-Gaaahhh!"

I shout as I fall and roll around on the ground. The fire, these bright flames, burn my body right down to my very soul.

I'm being burned alive. My skin is incinerated, my flesh bursts open, and my organs boil inside me.

It's hot, so very hot. The scorching sensation swallows me whole.

Guard 1: "Wha-what the hell is going on?!"

The city guards arrive at the scene. Their eyes widen as they a body covered in flames trying to put out it fruitlessly by rolling on the ground.

Guard 2: "Someone's been attacked with fire magic, call a water mage immediately!"

Another guard arrives and uses water his magic to douse the flames, for a few moments it seems like it's working.

As I burn, several voices reach what's left of my ears. A pale glow appears, cold water pouring all over my filleted body. But the cool relief is gone as quickly as it washed over me.

Guard 3: "What the hell?! No matter how much water magic is used it just gets evaporated!" He stands in shock after seeing his water magic is useless against the flames.

Guard 1: "Everyone, get a bucket filled with water! Hurry!" The lead guard quickly orders.

The guards come back each holding a bucket of water and attempt to put out the flames but in the end, it does absolutely nothing.

The water evaporates instantaneously, swallowed by the flames erupting off me. My body continues to fry. My arms, legs, and face are beyond repair...

Rem: "Please. Plea...se... en...d t... his."

[Maia's side]

With calm continence, Maia faces the world's eater envy.

Maia: "You got a lot of never showing your face here witch." Crossing her arms she glares at women made from shadows.

Satella: "I love him. I love him. I love him. I love him. I love him."

Undeterred by Maia's contempt the witch continues to proclaim her onesided love for Subaru

Maia: "Don't dare say you love him!" Maia stops the witch's endless declarations of love in its tracks with a shout. "You could have given him the pride gene, the lust gene, or even the greed gene, but instead, you gave him Return by Death. You gave him an ability that thrived on death!" Maia's voice becomes more hateful as she lists her grievances stunning the witch. "Did you ever stop to think how dying would affect Subaru's mind?! Of course, you didn't! You never think! You were so caught up in your own delusion of love that you ignored Subaru's opinion! Then in your infinite wisdom, you decide to banish me down here, so I wouldn't help him!"

When Maia gained sentience one of the first things she tried to do was send Subaru back home knowing how dangerous this world is. Unfortunately, Satella's obsession caused Subaru to not have anyone guide him in the new world. Satella deemed her threat for attempting to separate Subaru from her and decided to lock in the deepest parts of his soul so she wouldn't interfere. Like every other daemon, she feels what Subaru does but because their connection was cut all the knowledge she received became useless. No matter how hard Maia tried she was never able to reach Subaru leaving him all alone as she was forced to watch Subaru suffer helplessly. In Maia's eyes, there's no one she hates more than Satella for dragging Subaru to a world where he gets constantly killed. She knows that Satella has a split personality, but to her Envy and Satella are the same kind of monsters that tortured Subaru. If Satella was just able to control her envy none of would have happened.

Maia: With tears in her eyes, she glares at Satella. "If it wasn't for you Subaru would've had a happy life, but instead, all he gets here are agonizing deaths. You don't deserve to be loved let alone allowed to speak his name! And if you think I'll just stand here and let play with his life again then you got another thing coming!" Getting into a fighting stance Maia prepares herself for a fierce battle. [7]

Satella: "No no no no no I'll bring him back!" The witch miasma bursts from her body along with her denial. "And this I'll make sure he loves me!" The response honestly doesn't surprise Maia after all this is the embodiment of a sin we're talking about.

With a furious roar, the witch sends multiple giant unseen hands towards her. Maia barely has enough time to put up a barrier to block the enraged blows. Never one to stay on the defensive Maia rips apart all unseen hands with a black hurricane of wind blades. Unfourtunly for Maia in the ensuing chaos the remote breaks. All the controls for the twin's punishment will surely malfunction, too bad she doesn't care, rather she wants to take all her pent-up aggression on the witch in front of her.

Satella: "You've stood in my way for the last time daemon! You won't be imprisoned this time you'll be erased!"

Maia: "Oh please, did you forget I hold the knowledge of multiple timelines?" To give an example Maia releases her full power making the witch buckle beneath the weight.

Under normal circumstances, this amount of power wouldn't affect Satella much but when other factors are added such as this taking place in Subaru's soul giving Maia a home advantage. Then there's the fact the real body of Satella is still sealed, so right now she can only fight through a weaker proxy.

Gathering magic in her hand Maia launches an energy beam the size of a school bus trying to incinerate Envy.

Summoning 600 unseen hands Envy manages to block the blast at the cost of losing half the number. Only to receive a patented rider kick from Maia to the head that snaps her neck and sends her flying across the ground. This should have killed any person hit especially considering the power put behind the attack.

But this is the Witch of Envy, a being that swallowed half the world and most of all a determined yandere. Rising furiously after putting her neck back in place, she decides to hold nothing back and with a monstrous roar, she summons 2000 unseen hands. Maia doesn't flinch in the face of what could be her inevitable demise.

Maia: "Let's do this." She shows a fearless grin before charging into battle.

[Ram]

Ram's death parade hadn't ended yet. She experienced countless forms of despair.

She was forced to bear false accusations and with no way to defend herself she was lynched in front of a cheering audience.

She fell under the curse of hunger and was forced to eat her own limbs to stave off the growing need.

Her body was torn apart after being tied to running ground dragons.

She was beheaded while still alive and forced to watch as her body was destroyed.

Her insides were boiled as she was kept alive with curse magic.

Countless deaths, infinite deaths, indefinitely, forever, never-ending. Dying and dying, and dying over and over. It doesn't end. It'll never end and so, She started to pray.

Ram: Someone, please end this hell.

That was all she was wishing for now.

If there was someone up top he must have heard her wish because something was going to change.

Another memory was starting to play, making Ram cringe in fear. She tries to move only to find her limbs unresponsive.

Ram: "Ahhh...ahhhhh...ahhhh... .ahhhhh!" She starts wailing and screaming in mind broken insane jumbles from the thought of going through another death. She closes her eyes and waits for the inevitable death. She continues to wait, but death never comes eventually, she gains to courage to open her eyes.

It wasn't a memory-filled with death, but a conversation held between her and Subaru. The topic was about her loyalty to Roswaal.

Ram: "You know that my body has belonged to Roswaal-sama since the day he saved me. I am in debt to him and I belong to him and no one else can do what he wants with me, I am only his.

Why? Why does she have to face the past again? Listening to herself declare devotion to that maniac. Ram wanted to block her ears but she knows there was no point in trying to ignore what she really was.

Subaru: "That's not true Ram!"

Subaru shout brings Ram out her guilt in shock. How can he say something like that to her? She was a disgusting sinner who betrayed his trust.

Subaru: "You are much more than a tool you're not an object that Roswaal can throw away any time he wants. You're much more than that, you're a very precious person to me, I love you and I don't want to see you think less of yourself."

Even if she's unworthy, she still wants to hold onto his kindness. Subaru actually caring for her despite the hardships he was put through.

At that time Ram felt needed by someone. Like she wasn't a tool, but having someone to truly love her.

Ram: "I'm sorry Subaru." She hangs her head in repentance.

[Rem]

How long has she been here, days, weeks, months, maybe years? The only thing she does know is that's been a long time. The smell of her own burnt flesh still lingers under her nose. She wants everything to end already.

Then suddenly the world rumbled before changing to another scene.

She sees herself standing by Subaru in the guest room at the Roswaal mansion. The thing that shocks her though is that they talking about solving the demon beast invasion.

Rem: "This must be what Maia talked about. A different timeline where Subaru saved Rem."

Rem: "I am... very weak. So I'm sure I'll end up leaning on you." Rem looked at him in guilt.

Rem: "Even though Rem was the one that stole that future from you." She turns away in shame not wanting to believe Subaru's kindness. "He must be pitying Rem after all no one can love someone as worthless as Rem."

Subaru: "What's so wrong with that?" Subaru asked, surprising both maids.

A part of Rem didn't want to believe him, but with her being connected to him she knows everything he says is how he truly feels. Natsuki Subaru cared for Rem. How else would he be able to forgive her otherwise?

Subaru: "We can lean on each other as we move forward. Let's laugh and talk about tomorrow with our arms around each other's shoulders. It's always been my dream to talk about next year with a demon while we both laugh!"

How could he aim a smile so pure towards her?

Subaru: "I'm glad you were there. Thank you." Subaru pulled Rem into an embrace while smiling at her.

Her heart was throbbing, but not from fear. She felt something other than the cold embrace of death and failure. At that time Rem felt loved.

Memory end...

Rem: "W-wait don't go!"

In a futile effort, she tries to grab the memory but her hand only fazes through them. The light that brought so much happiness disappeared, leaving her all alone. She can't help but break out in tears after living through something so nice.

[Maia's Side]

Right now Maia is struggling to free herself from being crushed anymore by the ocean of hands surrounding her. Giving an angry shout she blasts the unseen hands freeing herself.

Maia: Showing a ferocious smile she taunts her opponent. "You're gonna have to try harder than that you jealous bitch!"

She teleports into Satella personal space and gives her a punch to the spine. But before she can give a follow up she's forced to dodge a storm of yin spells, that passes her and blows a hole into the room the twins are being kept in.

Maia: "Oh, great she's using magic now." Rolling her eyes Maia knows this going to take a while.

Unnoticed to both fighters the witch's miasma was being drawn into the hole Satella made with her last attack.

[Ram]

The Witch's miasma started to pour into the area. Invading every part of her body and eating away at her psyche. The headband working at half compacity could only block some of the adverse effects. It performed similarly to glue plugging up the holes in her mind but the cracks could no longer be held back. The headband was keeping her coherent enough to process everything but it wasn't holding her sanity in check anymore. Her mind started to focus more on Subaru than all the deaths. It made her feel possessive of the happiness Subaru gifted.

In between the constant suffering, she saw Subaru's infinite affection for her shine through the darkness, acting as a beacon for her to follow. The warm feelings she experienced were too addicting, honestly, what would anyone else do but want more.

The first world was where Rem died to the curse with this time it being permanent and Subaru giving all his support to make sure she recovers from losing her sister. Subaru no longer pursuing Emilia and focusing on her more was just a bonus to the life she has with her, one true love.

She sees herself married to Subaru after everyone else close to them died because that clown was obsessed with a certain greedy witch. Naturally, this was her favorite timeline out of what was shown so far. All of Subaru's most profound love belonging to her and no extras getting in the way. They also had a daughter that looked just like her, but with Subaru's hair color it could simply be defined as heaven.

She even experienced giving Subaru her first time making her blush. The stamina Subaru showed was astounding, no breaks just hours of him pleasuring her. The equipment down below was nothing to sneeze at too.

She wanted more. More memories. More love. More Subaru. It as if a voice telling her Subaru's affection belongs to her. She never thought of herself as the possessive type, but discovering true love made her not want to give to anyone. She doesn't want some to steal it from her.

Rem: ["Sister is right Subarukun's love should be monopolized!"]

Looking for her sister Ram wonder how she heard her. Using Synesthesia Ram questions Rem.

Ram: [Rem how are you talking to me?"]

Rem: ["It's obvious sister Maia-sama must be rewarding us! Now she let us connect to each other after learning about Subaru-kun!"]

Ram: That's right! Maia-sama has given us happiness I didn't think possible. Even though we don't deserve it as expect as someone related to Subaru-kun.

Ram's delusion had grown strong due to the miasma and torture. If Ram was sane she would have known Maia still hates them both and never wanted them to be happy.

Ram: [Not just Subaru-kun but Maia-sama has saved me from my own foolishness."]

She's surprised to hear Rem's thoughts on Subaru.

Ram: ["Sister Rem was saved by Subaru-kun too isn't he just amazing! There will never be someone great as him."]

She finds herself agreeing with Rem when talks about Subaru. Subaru was the only man she would ever choose, she'll reject and loathe any other male, but not Subaru, she loved him and he loved her.

Rem went through the same experience as Ram and loved every second of it! When she found out the witch's miasma help her focus on Subaru she did the unthinkable.

Rem practically inhaled the witch's scent filling the air with reckless abandonment, but paid no heed to it to its possible adverse effects. She put all her focus on learning more about Subaru. His likes, dislikes, fears, dreams, who his parents were, how he grew up.

Rem no longer struggles with the memories rather she looks forward to what will bring her closer to Subaru. She can't help but giggle to herself for being so foolish to deny Subaru's love. The way Subaru smiled at her. The way he praised her. The way fought for her. And most importantly the way he says he loves her. These were the most essential thing to her. She could no longer imagine her life without Subaru. She needs Natsuki Subaru, all of him.

Both Ram and Rem continued to watch memories of Subaru bragging to each other about what they know. It was a nice moment for the sister to bond over their mutual love for Subaru. They watched what was deemed as Arcs cheering Subaru on, later they reached the end of Acr 3. They saw how Subaru saved Emilia stoking an unidentified emotion in them. For some reason, the Oni twins felt bitter watching Subaru interact with Emilia.

Then they heard three fatal words. A sentence that would send anyone into a blood rage.

Rem never thought a single sentence would invoke such raw hatred in her. Don't misunderstand Rem is not mad at Subaru, but at herself for being the one who pushed him back into that devil's arms. He loves the person that abandoned him. A person who always needs him to hold her hand and solve her problems because she's so useless. She should have left everyone to die and lived happily ever after with her beloved Subaru-kun but instead, she fell to gluttony's authority allowing Subaru to suffer alone. She gained a crazed look as her thoughts were filled with ways to murder that half-elf. All she knows, if Emilia was in front of she would rip out her spine with her bare hands.

Ram: ["How could Subaru-kun still love someone so ignorant and so self-centered?"] To Ram, it just doesn't seem worth it if all you're getting in return is death. Facing death after death, being betrayed by people close to him and Subaru still waits for Emilia to reciprocate his feelings.

Ram was disgusted upon looking at the scene. Subaru reminds her how she used to act around that clown Roswaal, ready to follow any order like a lovesick dog. She understands that every death had made him want to cling to Emilia for comfort because she didn't kill him. It's just ridiculous she and Rem may have killed Subaru directly, but it was only one time for each of them, Emilia, on the other hand, has killed Subaru indirectly with her incompetence so many times. Rem: ["Sister isn't obvious, that half-devil must have bewitched Subaru-kun. How else would she continue to receive his love after all the trouble she put him through."]

Ram finds the idea valid it wouldn't be surprising if Satella was controlling Subaru's emotions so he would silver-haired half-elves.

Ram felt a dark emotion coursing through her. She never hated Emilia but seeing her with Subaru awakened the green-eyed monster in her, jealousy. She wants nothing more than to run over and cave in that half bitch's face for daring to receive Subaru's love.

The world around Ram began to be swallowed shadows.

She heard Rem's voice before darkness took over. Her last was thoughts were of Subaru.

Maia: "Damn, I can't last much longer against her while I'm losing the rest of my power." She said to herself while a barrage of shadow punches.

What started as a fight her favor quickly turned bad. Satella took advantage of weakness the moment showed it. Right now the room was almost consumed by shadows.

Maia: If wait any longer she going to make Subaru reset! Wait, that's what I need is a reset! Coming up with an idea Maia decides to give Satella what she wants.

Using a clone she slips from the fight and makes a replica of Subaru. Next, she links it to the Oni twins furthermore solidifying with an illusion.

Maia: If she wants Subaru that's what she going to get. Waiting for her clone to be defeated she sets the trap perfectly.

Just when she finished her preparations she feels her clone being obliterated by Satella's magic. She turns invisible and waits for her trap to be sprung. Satella thinking she won approaches the fake Subaru without caution and starts to use her authority to send him back. Maia can't help but pat herself on the back for making such a convincing fake. Exactly, when Satella was finishing with the transfer she noticed what she was holding wasn't Subaru. Before she can stop a powerful punch smashes into her head making her accidentally send to demon twins back to the past.

Maia used all her remaining power in that blow. She was flickering inconsistently but was laughing knowing that Subaru was free from this stalker's love.

Maia: You were too careless witch! Too bad Subaru is out of your reach forever now!" Mocking the witch's failure Mia gives a two-finger salute before finally fading away.

Satella: "DAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNN YOOOOOUUUUU!" She cursed the daemon.

[Roswaal Mansion]

Blinking her eyes Ram is the first one to notice where she is. She looks around the familiar room and seeing the sleeping form of Subaru. She turns to the right when hears a gasp. Realizing From Rem's expression she's not the only one who went back.

Rem: "Sister are we really back?" She asks wondering if it was an illusion.

Ram: Nodding her head she answers, "I don't know how but we've been given a chance." She says motioning to the sleeping Subaru. "If we do things right we'll have Subaru-kun to ourselves and if some get in the way-." She leaves her words hanging.

Rem smiles realizing her sister's plan. They would make Subaru fall in love with them and kill the competition. Rem quickly agrees with the plan and good timing because Subaru was just waking up.

Subaru's eyes opened up suddenly as he smirked on his bed.

Subaru: "A new dawn has come! A dawn of hope! " Subaru jumped up on his bed to reveal himself standing. "Natsuki Subaru is going to make giant strides today!"

Guessing they were sent back to the second loop at the mansion they decide to act clueless.

Rem: "Sister, sister our guest appears to be confused."

Ram: "Rem, Rem it looks as though our guest has gone crazy."
