Black clover fic

Under a starry night, a beautiful witch named Anika was cradling a young infant in her arms inside a tall but narrow and magically secluded stone tower. The witch has a slim body with an hourglass figure, dark skin, long black wavy hair reaching to the small of her back, and violet eyes. She wore a sleeveless gray dress under a deeper gray corset and black shoes. Hidden in a boxed-in valley inside the forest not far from Hage village, the tower was surrounded by the lush green meadows filled with beautiful flowers. On the right side, a stunning waterfall was falling from the crest of the steep surrounding cliffs and plunging to a sparkling stream down below.

At the top of the tall tower, Anika patted the back of her niece, who was sleeping soundly on her left shoulder.

"There you go." Anika said as she placed her niece into an elegant bassinet.

While silently smiling at her sleeping niece, Anika's eyes examined a silver chain-like bracelet attached to a silver-white hexagonal stone next to the baby's head.

"Sleep well, Mora." Anika said with a smile. "As of today, this tower will be our new home. We'll be okay as long as we're safe here."

Fifteen years later...

Mora has grown up into a slender, curvy teenager. She has medium brown skin, curly chin-length raven-black hair, and striking bluish gray eyes. She wore a white one shoulder crop top that has black trimming at the neck and sleeves, black pants that are cut below her knees with a dark gray belt, and dark gray ankle-high boots. She sat on a hovering broom above the stone tower. Her broom was no ordinary broom. Her broom was an ultra-mechanical electric flying broom complete with a black bull-shaped handles and a bundle of rainbow-colored bristles at the end. She gripped on the handles and hadn't moved an inch.

Alright, Mora. Mora thought firmly as she took a deep breath. You spent many months working on this broom and now it's time to put it to the test. Sure, it took a lot of focus and concentration. But it will definitely be worth it.

Mora revved her magical broom and propelled straight up towards the enormous sky with incredible speed.

"Woo-hoo!" Mora screamed. "I can't believe I did it! It worked!"

With a smirk, Mora soared upwards and stood on top of her seat. She fell herself backwards and spun around rapidly with several impressive tricks. But when she reached towards the ground, she sat back on her seat and flew forward inches off the ground.

Mora flew back towards the sky. Her eyes caught the sight of a statue of the first Wizard King holding his grimoire while standing on top of the skull of a huge demonic monster. She looked down at the small village that has several houses randomly located within a wide grassy plain on the outskirt of the Clover Kingdom. Most of the villagers are typically farmers since they have patches of land cultivated for agricultural purposes. When she flew around above Hage, many villagers shouted hello to her while some of them waved. As Mora waved them back, she saw a young man running off towards the demon's skull.

"Oh, boy." Mora said with a smile.

But Mora's eyes caught the sight of another young man waving his hand at the orphanage church with a warm smile. He has a lean build with messy black hair and gold eyes. He wore a long-sleeved pitch-black shirt with a high collar and brown leather that cover the wrists and upper arms on the sleeves, light brown pants that are cut below his knees with a pair of brown belts crossing each other around his waist, black socks, and a pair of light brown boots.

With a wide smile, Mora flew down and lowered her magical broom on the grassy ground.

"Hey, Yuno." Mora greeted.

"Hello, Mora." Yuno greeted back. "Your mana has gotten stronger than the last time you visited." He examined Mora's magical broom. "I see you made some impressive adjustments."

"Yeah, you too." Mora said with a smile. "Aside from practicing my magic, I've been working on my broom with the latest upgrades. That, and I've been working on some new ideas that are still in the beta phase."

"Can't wait to see them." Yuno said with a smile.

Mora and Yuno have known each other since they were six years olds. When Mora and Anika arrived at Hage for the first time, she was playing with her fire magic at the open field, which immediately attracted Yuno's attention. Despite his crybaby demeanor, Yuno effortlessly demonstrated his wind magic that captured Mora's curiosity. Since then, they kept playing and practicing their magic whenever Mora visited the village.

Mora then moved her eyes to the gold chained necklace around Yuno's neck. Her eyes gazed at a smooth, circular blue stone that has a pattern of a gold cross and four pointed stars at each corner. Mora's left hand touched the silver-white hexagonal stone with a black crescent moon pattern on her silver chain bracelet.

"Mora, are you alright?" Yuno asked, placing his hand on Mora's shoulder.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Mora apologized as she snapped out of her trance with flushed cheeks. "I didn't mean to stare at your necklace. When we first met, the jewel on your necklace intrigues me. I even asked my aunt about it and the jewel on my bracelet, but not even she knows about them nor their origins."

"I can't blame you. My pendant and your bracelet are indeed a mystery." Yuno agreed. He grabbed the jewel on his necklace and clenched it. "Once I receive my grimoire and become the Wizard King, I will learn the truth to why I left here with this necklace."

Unlike Yuno, Mora doesn't want to become the Wizard King. Or in her case, the Wizard Queen. She always wanted to be a Magic Knight throughout her whole life, so she can become the strongest mage to serve the Wizard King and protect the Clover Kingdom.

"Same here." Mora said as she looked at the jewel on her bracelet. "My aunt raised me ever since I was a baby. I know this bracelet means something to me and I'm going to find out for myself no matter what."

After a moment of silence, Mora quickly changed the subject.

"So, anyway, where's Asta?" Mora asked.

"He just ran off to who knows where." Yuno replied with a sigh. "It's a long story."

"Oh, don't worry. I'll find him." Mora assured as she turned her head to the demon's skull.

Mora flew down and entered inside the demon's skull, where she found the young man vigorously doing a handstand with only one hand. He has a short stature with a muscular build, messy ash blond hair with bangs in front of his forehead and a single strand protruding upwards from the center of his head, and green eyes. He wore dark blue pants extending just below his knees and black-and-white toned shoes.

Mora lowered her magical broom on the grassy ground and walked up to the young man.

"Hey, Asta!" Mora greeted with a wave.

Asta stopped for a minute and looked at Mora with a huge smile.

"Mora!" Asta beamed. "Good to see you!"

Asta somersaulted and landed on his feet.

"It's been awhile." Asta said as he walked up to Mora. "How are you?"

"I'm good. Just testing out my broom." Mora replied.

"Your broom?" Asta repeated.

Mora turned and pointed her finger to her high-tech broom. Asta's eyes lit up with excitement.

"Oh wow!" Asta exclaimed with star-shaped eyes. He dashed and examined Mora's magical broom. "It's so cool! You really hooked it up!"

"It's a gift. Took me a whole week but it was totally worth it." Mora said. "I see you're still determined on your training."

For a long time since they were kids, Mora and Asta have become great friends. Even though he doesn't have any magic powers, she never picks on him or has negative thoughts of him unlike the Hage villagers. Just like Yuno, Asta aims to become the Wizard King, so he can prove the village and soon the whole world that a magic-less commoner like him do go beyond and do impossible things.

"I may not have any magic like you, but I'm not giving up that easily." Asta said enthusiastically. "It's always been my dream to become the Wizard King one day. Once I get my own grimoire, that is. And when I do, I'll prove everyone in the entire realm that you don't need magic to make a name for yourself, even if you're a commoner and an orphan!"

"You have determination, I'll give you that." Mora said as she placed her hands on her hips. "I'll be rooting for you."

"Thanks." Asta said. His smile changed into a teasing grin as he moved next to Mora. "And I know there's someone else you'll be rooting for."

Mora's eyes widened with flushed cheeks.

"Wh-what are you talking about?" Mora questioned with a stutter.

"Oh, come on. You know who I'm talking about." Asta teased as he moved closer to the blushing Mora. "Yuno. I know you like him since we were kids. You two need to make a move already."

Without hesitation, Mora jabbed her elbow straight into Asta's chest, sending him to crash straight into the pillar.

"You're lucky I didn't burn you alive." Mora said in a threatening tone.

Asta wheezed from the pillar.

Under the evening sky, Mora slumped at the edge of her bed. She can't stop thinking about Asta teasing her about herself rooting for Yuno.

Damn, Asta. You have to bring up Yuno. Mora thought with irritation. Think again. He has changed over the years. He was an adorable crybaby when we first met, but now... he's different.

Suddenly, Mora's eyes went pure white for a split second. Through her eyes, a strange vision projected a flash of the future. In her vision, she saw a glowing reddish violet book levitating in front of her in mid-air. The front cover has a silver-gray four-leaf clover insignia on it.

When her vision ended, Mora immediately fell off the bed with a thud.

"Mora?" Anika called out. She slowly began to climb the stairs to Mora's room and knocked on the door. "Mora, are you alright up there?"

"I'm fine, Aunt Anika!" Mora shouted. "I was just... practicing my spells, that's all!"

"Oh, alright." Anika said. "But remember. You got your Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony coming up soon and you need to be prepared."

"I will!" Mora said. She got up and sat back on her bed with confusion. That was weird. Was that...a vision just now? And that book...could that be... Her eyes lit up in surprise. My own grimoire?!

In the month of March, the firefly dandelions began floating through the air. The day of the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony finally came. Located in a large Grimoire Tower, every commoner and noble who have reached fifteen years of age throughout the Clover Kingdom gathered together to receive their very own grimoire that will increase their magical power as part of a rite of passage.

Mora walked inside and observed a large collection of unclaimed grimoires with an exciting smile.

Whoa. Mora thought to herself.

"Hey, Mora!"

Mora turned around and saw Asta and Yuno walking their way towards her.

"Hiya, boys." Mora greeted. "I can't believe there's so many grimoires on these shelves."

"Tell me about it." Asta said as he looked around in awe and excitement. "Ooh! Which one is mine?"

Then, two male nobles began talking amongst themselves.

"The day that I'll become a full-fledged mage. It's about time." The blond-haired male noble spoke haughtily.

The short brown haired male noble turned his head to Astra, Yuno, and Mora.

"Look what the cat dragged in." A short brown haired male noble said. "Could they be any shabbier? We shouldn't have to give grimoire to anyone who just walks in off the street."

"Makes me sick to my stomach." The blond-haired noble said with a chuckle.

"You don't think the pathetic creatures would be foolish enough to attempt the Magic Knights Entrance Exam in six months, do you?" The brown-haired noble said.

"Only high-ranking nobles and royalty have enough innate magic power to pass the exam." The blond-haired noble replied.

"See the shrimpy one? I heard that he can't use magic at all." The brown-haired noble said.

"Oh, wow. We'd better take extra special care of him. I mean, he's one of a kind." The blond-haired noble said. "The only person in the entire country who can't use magic."

Mora's ears picked up the nobles' pitiful conversation, clenching her right hand into a tight fist with brimming fire magic. But Yuno placed his hand on her shoulder to calm her down.

"Ignore them, Mora." Yuno whispered. "They're not worth it."

Mora took a deep breath and evaporated her fire magic.

Anika quietly watched the ceremony against the wall. But she's not the only one. Asta and Yuno's foster father Orsi Orfai and foster siblings Recca, Nash, Aruru, and Hollo are also watching the ceremony as well.

"Welcome to Grimoire Tower, acceptees. On this momentous day, you will take your first step down a new path."

Everyone turned their attention to an elderly man descending on a magic flying carpet. He has a heavily bushy white beard and mustache along with long eyebrows. He wore a stereotypical wizard robe and a matching red wizard hat.

"I wish you integrity, hope and love." Drouot said as his magic carpet landed on the platform. He projected his voice through his magic tool. "For those that don't know, I am the master of this Grimoire Tower. Now, never once has anyone from this region distinguished him, or herself, by becoming a Magic Knight, much less the Wizard King. I pray that one among you will have what it takes to become the most powerful mage in the land." His face suddenly looked worked-up. "Seriously, I mean it!"

Drouot then cleared his throat.

"And now, to accept your grimoires." Drouot said.

Multiple grimoires started to glow and fly off flying off the shelves one by one as they all hovered in the air above the teenage crowd. All the attendees murmured in awe. Then, each grimoire slowly floated down towards their respective owners.

"Finally, my very own grimoire!" A blonde-haired female acceptee said with a smile.

"Check it out! Mine's bigger than yours." A black-haired male acceptee said as he held a large grimoire in his hands.

"Yeah, maybe, but mine's thicker." Another male acceptee smirked as he showed off his thick grimoire.

"Here it is! My one-way ticket out of this little village." A blond-haired male acceptee said to himself.

"I can carry on the family business!" A brown-haired male acceptee said as he held his grimoire up with both hands.

"This is my grimoire? Seriously?" A male acceptee questioned as he examined his thin-looking grimoire.

"Why is mine so tiny?" Another male acceptee inquired as he held a very tiny grimoire in his palms.

A female acceptee began searching through her grimoire until she found one page with written text on it.

"I guess I'll decide what to do once there are more pages of magic in here." The female acceptee said to herself.

The blond-haired noble scoffed confidently with his grimoire.

"Six months from now, we'll be taking the prestigious Magic Knight Entrance Exam." The blond-haired noble said.

"And we'll pass it too, just wait." The brown-haired noble added.

"Yes, very good. I have high hopes for all of you." Drouot said.

"Hey, uh…"

All the attendees turned their heads to Asta with quiet gasps. Asta was on one knee with his arms held high. Unfortunately, he hasn't received his grimoire at all.

"Is my grimoire running late or something?" Asta questioned.

Drouot cleared his throat again.

"Uh…try again next year?" Drouot said.

"What?!" Asta yelled in shock.

Every attendee started laughing at Asta for not receiving his own grimoire.

"Oh, wow, you're kidding!"

"That's actually kinda awesome!"

"What? That's too funny!"

"Seriously?"

"Well, he's got us beat in one area anyway." The blonde-haired noble scoffed with a smirk. "Complete and utter uselessness."

Mora walked up and placed one comforting hand on Asta's shoulder.

Oh, man. I'm so sorry, Asta. Mora thought.

Then suddenly, a bright yellow light glowed on one grimoire. All the attendees, including Anika and Asta and Yuno's foster family, gasped with appalled expressions. The glowing grimoire shone right towards Yuno and revealed a four-leaf clover insignia embroidered on the front cover.

"Is that the four-leaf clover?" Drouot gasped.

"The four-leaf?" The blond-haired noble said in shock. "Like out of the legend?"

"R-really?" The brown-haired noble muttered.

"The grimoire that was bestowed upon the first Wizard King?" Orsi said with a stunned face.

"If the stories about it are true, it's imbued not only with tremendous magic power, but also good luck." Sister Lily asked.

"And it's his? A filthy little commoner?" The blond-haired noble questioned.

Yuno silently watched his glowing grimoire for a moment. As his grimoire stopped glowing and fell within his hand, he turned and faced the attendees.

"I will become the Wizard King." Yuno declared.

The attendees gasped stunningly at Yuno's declaration. Mora looked at Yuno's grimoire in awe while Asta dropped his arms down and collapsed on both knees as he stared at the floor with a dispirited face.

"Amazing!" The attendees cheered.

Asta slowly stood up on his feet.

"Yuno." Asta spoke. "Just wait. I'm hot on your heels." He turned around to face Yuno with a determined face. "I'll catch up to you. I am your rival!"

The crowd laughed at Asta's determination.

"His rival? Who does he think he is?" One of the acceptee called out.

"Big talk for some idiot who didn't even get a grimoire!" Another acceptee shouted.

Yuno started walking past Asta and Mora.

"No." Yuno said coldly.

Asta was taken aback with a deflated expression by Yuno's cold response.

"So what?!"

All the acceptees, including Asta and Yuno, turned their heads to an angry-looking Mora.

"Just because he doesn't have a grimoire like the rest of you jerks doesn't mean he can't do great things!" Mora shouted.

Asta's eyes softened.

"Asta is my best friend and I know he won't give up that easily!" Mora continued. "Yes, he's a commoner just like me! Who the hell cares?! I believe in him! And just like I believe in Yuno becoming the Wizard King, I also believe Asta will become the Wizard King!"

A sudden glow of bright red light radiated on another grimoire. Mora spun around and her eyes widened wide in awe when the grimoire levitated right in front of her in mid-air. The glowing grimoire revealed a silver-gray four-leaf clover insignia on the front cover in a reddish violet color. Asta, Anika, Asta and Yuno's foster family, and all the attendees gasped with speechless expressions. Even Yuno's eyes lit up with a surprised expression on his face.

"Another four-leaf clover?" Drouot gasped again.

"Are you kidding me?!" The blond-haired noble muttered in shock. "Another commoner got a four leaf?!"

I know my niece is very talented, but being imbued with tremendous magic power and also good luck is truly unbelievable. Anika thought to herself with wide eyes.

"That's awesome, Mora!" Asta shouted. "You got a four leaf just like Yuno!"

This is it! Mora cried out with a wide smile. It's the grimoire from my vision!

Mora's grimoire unexpectedly opened and the pages began turning on their own until two pages contained strange writing on them. The strange writing started to glow brilliantly. A red orb and a blue orb of energy formed out of the pages. The energy orbs assembled into two spiritual beings. The red orb transformed into a small, red spirit with stubby feet and club-like arms that are longer than his body. He has darker red pupil-less eyes and tiny black gems around his onion-shaped head. He also has three horn-like protrusions on his forehead. The blue orb transformed into a small, blue spirit with stubby feet and club-like arms that are longer than her body. She has darker blue pupil-less eyes and tiny white gems around her onion-shaped head. She also has three horn-like protrusions on her forehead.

After the grimoire closed itself and landed in Mora's hands, the two spirits looked at Mora.

"Hello, Mora." The spirits greeted. "We're Ares and Athena. It's an honor to meet you."

Everyone's eyes widened in a complete mix of shock and surprise. Yuno stared at Ares and Athena with amazement and curiosity.

"Is that...a spirit?"

"Not one. But two!"

"And they serve her?"

"That's incredible!"

"But-but that's impossible!"

Mora ignored the acceptees and started walking towards the door. She walked past the silently speechless Yuno and exited out of the tower with Athena and Ares following after her.

After a long moment of silence, everyone began exiting out of the tower. No one paid attention to a mysterious cloaked man, who started to leave the tower. Within the crowd, his eyes went mesmerized upon Mora's and Yuno's grimoires.

"Well, isn't this extraordinary?" A mysterious man said with a chuckle as he left. "A boy and girl wonder, and from a sleepy little village too."

Under the sunset sky, Mora sat inside the church's bell tower. She handed two red apples to Athena and Ares, who looked at it with curiosity in their eyes.

"I thought you two might be hungry." Mora said. "I got them on my trip to Raque with my aunt. Go ahead and try it."

Athena and Ares traded curious faces. They sniffed the apples and took a small chomp of it. Their eyes lit up in delight as they took the apples and kept eating them.

"We are truly grateful, Mora." Athena said.

"No problem." Mora said. "I just can't believe I got my own spirits. It's so..."

"Unbelievable." Ares finished. "Yeah, we know."

"And as your spirits, we're here to serve and aid you whenever you need us." Athena added. "But for now, you only have five spells in your grimoire."

"Five?" Mora repeated with a confused face. "But how could that be?"

Mora opened up her grimoire and saw five new magic spells inscribing on the blank pages.

"Oh...wow." Mora said with wide eyes. "These are some really cool spells."

"And if you keep working hard, you'll be able to get new spells in no time." Athena added.

Suddenly, Mora's eyes went pure white again. Another vision flashed in her mind. In her vision, she saw a mysterious man holding Yuno's grimoire in his hand.

When her vision ended, Mora gasped sharply.

Was that...another vision? Mora wondered with a gasp.

"Mora, what's wrong?" Athena asked with worry.

Mora's ears instantly picked up the sound of loud screams. She quickly stood up and looked at the Grimoire Tower. Athena and Ares flew from either side of Mora.

"Someone's in trouble." Mora replied. "I sense a strong mana coming from the Grimoire Tower."

"Very strong, indeed." Ares said with a smile.

Mora, Ares, and Athena immediately hurried over to the sound of the loud scream as fast as they could. Once they arrived at the Grimoire Tower, their eyes widened in shock. The two nobles from the grimoire ceremony are trapped to the wall with several chains wrapping them tightly in place. Several chains also wrapped around Yuno's torso as well.

Mora's eyes moved to the source of the chains, which revealed to be a mysterious man holding Yuno's grimoire in his hand. The man has a tall, lean build with messy and wavy long black hair, and gray eyes. He wore a dark red cloak buttoned together around his right shoulder over a black full bodysuit that has a pair of belts and a pouch strapped around his right thigh, and black boots that have a pair of tight belts.

"Yuno!" Mora exclaimed.

"Well, well, well. Looks like the village girl came here just in time." The mysterious man spoke sinisterly. He turned around and faced Mora with an evil smile. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Revchi, the former member of the Magic Knights Squad."

"I don't give a crap if you're the captain himself! You better let Yuno and the noble idiots go or I'll make you!" Mora snapped.

"You're welcome to try." Revchi said as several chains started moving around in a snakelike manner. His eyes then stared at the bracelet on Mora's wrist. "That way, I can take your four-leaf grimoire and that bracelet as my prize to the black market."

Mora's grimoire quickly floated in front of her and opened up one of the pages.

"Fire Magic: Pyro Blast!" Mora casted.

Mora released a powerful star-shaped blast of orange fire from her hands at Revchi. But Revchi manipulated his chains and shielded himself from the fiery blast. Mora kept unleashing her fire magic that she paid no attention to the chains coming out from the ground beneath her.

"Mora, look out!" Yuno shouted.

Mora's eyes quickly looked down, but it was too late for her to evade. Revchi's chains shot out and wrapped around Mora's torso, holding her in place and restraining her from using her fire magic.

"Mora!" Ares and Athena exclaimed.

But before Ares and Athena could use their magic, Revchi's chains grabbed them and Mora's floating grimoire.

"Not only I'll be taking your grimoire, but your precious spirits too." Revchi said as he pulled Mora's grimoire, Ares, and Athena towards him.

"Hey, give them back!" Mora yelled as she struggled to break free through the chains.

"Hold it!"

Mora, Revchi, Ares, Athena, and Yuno looked up to see Asta jumping out of the trees. But Asta ended up hitting his face to the brick wall before falling and crashing onto the ground.

That gotta hurt. Mora winced.

Asta immediately jumped up and pointed his accusing finger at the chained noble.

"What the hell is going on here?" Asta shouted. "I've come to rescue…Eh?"

The chained noble pointed his eyes to Revchi, allowing Asta to point his finger at the former Magic Knight.

"Hey, creep, what's your deal?" Asta shouted again. His eyes caught the sight of the grimoires in Revchi's hands. "That's Yuno and Mora's grimoire you've got." His eyes then moved to the struggling Ares and Athena. "And those are Mora's spirits! What are you doing with it? You dirt rotten thief!"

"Why, look, it's the sad little boy who waited so long, but never got a grimoire." Revchi smirked.

"Oh, you've heard of me? Yeah, you're right. The poor, empty-handed kid. The only place a grimoire belongs is with its true master. Now give them back to Yuno and Mora! And let Athena and Ares go!" Asta snapped.

Revchi merely laughed.

"You really are a sheltered creature if you believe that kind of reasoning will get you anywhere with the likes of me." Revchi said. He began flipping through the pages from his floating grimoire. "Allow me to disabuse you of that notion."

"Asta, run!" Yuno shouted.

Revchi laughed deviously as several arrow-tipped chains appeared next to him.

"He's right, Asta! Run and get help!" Mora yelled.

"From a waste of space like him?" Asta said as he crouched briefly and dashed towards Revchi. "Not a chance in hell!"

Revchi launched several chains at Asta, who swiftly dodged through them and jumped over to land behind Revchi. With a scream, Asta clenched his fist and swung it directly at Revchi's back. But Revchi's chains wrapped around Asta's waist, stopping him and pulling him back.

"I'll get you!" Asta grunted with a yell as he took a step forward.

"No, boy. You're finished here." Revchi said.

Another page was turned on Revchi's grimoire. One of his chains flew behind Asta and struck him in the back.

"Dance of the Pitless Viper!" Revchi yelled with a grin.

Several chains surrounded Asta and hurled themselves towards him, striking and stabbing him from multiple directions before throwing him towards the wall.

"Asta!" Mora screamed.

Revchi marched through the dust cloud. Once the dust cloud cleared up, Revchi stomped his left boot on Asta's left shoulder.

"You see, boy, it's no use." Revchi said. "Thanks for playing, though!"

"It's not over. I'm not done." Asta said. "I will be the Wizard King."

"The Wizard King? You're joking." Revchi chuckled as he leaned close towards Asta. "The thing is, these chains can measure the magic power of anyone they come in contact with. And you have none, not a single drop."

Asta gasped.

"You were probably born that way. I guess this explains why you didn't get a grimoire. To possess not the slightest bit of magic in a world where magic is everything? Why, that makes you a rare and precious bird, indeed!" Revchi continued.

As Revchi laughed, Asta's confidence began to waver.

If that's true, then… Asta thought to himself. No matter how hard I push myself, I'll never be able to use magic.

"You know, I really can't think of anything more pitiful." Revchi added. "Forget about becoming the Wizard King, you'll be lucky to just get a job. I bet your friends, the geniuses over there, are having a good laugh at your expense right about now."

Yeah, maybe. Asta thought. Yuno and Mora are so great. The four-leaf clover chose them. Hell, Mora got magic spirits at her side. Then there's me.

"This world has no use for someone like you, a poor, magic-less fool. You might as well give it all up right now. You were born a loser, you worthless runt." Revchi concluded.

Yeah, he's right. Asta agreed. No matter how hard I try, I guess there are some things that just aren't possible. He started to close his eyes. So, I might as well as give u…

"Oh, will you shut the hell up already?!" Mora yelled.

"Yeah! Who are you calling a loser?" Yuno shouted. He looked at Asta. "Asta. It's true that you aren't going to become the Wizard King. Not ever."

"You hear that? Even your little friend knows that it's impossible." Revchi said as he looked down at Asta again.

"That's because I am going to be the Wizard King." Yuno yelled.

"What?" Revchi questioned.

"You're wrong about Asta, Revchi. Very wrong. Asta's no loser. He's my rival!" Yuno declared.

Yuno. Mora muttered.

Asta instantly opened up his eyes.

"Huh? This is who you would claim as your rival?" Revchi asked. "The only person in the world without magic? You might as well choose that girl over there to be your rival."

Asta's hand slowly reached and grabbed the ankle of Revchi's boot.

"You. Get off of me." Asta sneered with anger.

Revchi gasped as he began backing away from Asta with fear in his eyes.

"Sorry, you and Mora had to see me at such a weak moment, Yuno. Just give me a second." Asta declared. "That's all. Then I'll destroy this guy."

Then suddenly, a thunderous flash of red light appeared out of nowhere and the sky got dark from above. The glowing red light materialized a black grimoire right in front of Asta. The book looked tattered and filthy, and it has a black five-leaf clover insignia at the center of its front cover.

"Is that...a grimoire?" Asta muttered.

"I knew it." Yuno said with a smile. "Like you wouldn't be chosen, Asta? There's no way."

"Oh my god." Mora said with a gasp.

Ares and Athena looked at the mysterious grimoire with awestruck expressions.

The five-leaf grimoire opened its pages and a massive greatsword emerged out of them before hovering in the air. The weapon was mostly covered in dirt and scuff marks. The huge blade had a pointed tip while the base was pointing inward. The blade and the handle-like hilt are separated from each other and connected by a fuller.

"Is that your magic?" Revchi asked as his voice was shaking in fear.

The sword descended and stabbed on the ground right in front of Asta.

"But I checked, and you didn't have any magic power." Revchi said in shock as he slowly started backing away in fear. "How could you be granted a grimoire?"

In the world of magic, the leaves of a clover are said to each contain one thing. In the first three dwells integrity, hope, and love.

A shocked and fearful Revchi unknowingly dropped Yuno and Mora's grimoires to the ground. As he kept staring at Asta, his chains that were holding Ares and Athena instantly vanished. Ares and Athena quickly flew over to Mora, who looked at the sword with wide, shocking eyes.

The fourth leaf is given over to good luck.

Asta stood up and clutched the sword.

And in the fifth…

A large demonic shadow formed behind Asta.

There lives the devil.
