Deep within the mountains, two individuals were surrounded by corpses of dead wyverns. The first individual was a beautiful young girl with crimson-colored eyes and mid-length dark brown hair tied into two twin-tails that lie on her shoulders.
The girl's name is Yunyun, an arch-wizard from the Crimson Demon clan. She wore black robes and a cloak. Underneath the cloak, she wears a low-cut blouse and ultra-short pink miniskirts. Her clothes made her look like a real mage except for one thing, she wore body armor over her blouse.
"I think that's the last of them." The young girl said as she wiped the sweat off her head. She was wielding a silver staff on and had a pistol holstered around her waist. It was a semi-automatic pistol developed in Germany called "USP-45".
"Nope, there is one more and it's flying away." The other person with her answered. He was looking through a laptop and was controlling something. Yunyun look at the sky and saw the fleeting wyvern
"What?! Then shouldn't we chase it and take it out? The quest was to clear out all of the wyverns around here. Even letting one escape means failure with our quest." She worriedly said but her companion was still occupied with his device.
"Mark?!"
Mark was the boy's name. He was wearing a brown military outfit with kevlar helmet and body armor. He then removed his helmet, making his appearance clearer to see. He had gray colored eyes paired with neat grey hair. He had two weapons with him, a LMG and an assault rifle.
"Don't worry, I got him." Mark replied. Yunyun only gave a confused look when he said that.
"What do you…" She never got to finish what she was about to say due to seeing the flying wyvern getting hit by something before exploding out of the sky. "What was that?!"
The laptop Mark was holding suddenly vanished after the exploding of the wyvern. He gave a small smile to the girl before he started to walk away.
"That was a Predator Missile. I'll tell you the details later, for now let's head back to the Adventurers Guild. I'm beat."
Yunyun only nodded and followed the boy. She walked beside him as she took a glance at his face. The boy seemed to have his thoughts somewhere else as he had a distant look. The mage was also thinking about something as she looked at the boy.
'I still don't know what your weird magic is or where you came from. but that doesn't matter. I'm just glad you are here and became my friend. These are the happiest moments of my life!' Yunyun smiled her brightest as she continued to walk.
A few days ago…
Mark Salazar, a boy who is half American half Japanese, just arrived in Japan to visit his mother's grave. It has been 8 years since she was killed from a robbery at her home town. They were happening to be visiting his mother's parents when it happened. His Mother was withdrawing money from the bank when three armed men invaded the place.
She was shot in the back by the robbers, while holding her son to protect him from stray bullets from the shoot out with the police. When the police overwhelmed and arrested the robbers it was already too late, the mother already had died. It was a tragic memory for the boy.
Mark's father was a soldier for the U.S. Army. He met his wife when he was in Japan for a Vacation. They got to know each other and eventually fell in love and got married after some time. They only had one child which was Mark.
The Father was barely at his home due to his job. When he is home, he cherishes his time with his family. He always teaches his son how to use a gun and fire it, which made the boy delighted. It tore his heart when he was informed that his wife had died. His son was only 8 years old when it happened.
Mark at school was not a pleasant one. He was not bullied but was ignored by the majority of his classmates. This is due to the fact that they know he was only half american and had weird hair color. He was the only one like that at his school at that time. Though he had good grades and excellent at sports, this only made the other students jealous.
Even so, tried making friends with his classmates but ultimately failed. Try as he might but they seem to avoid him naturally. After awhile he gave up and tried making friends through online games. He was immediately hooked with Call of Duty Franchise especially Modern Warfare. But he still failed at making friends there, making him stuck at playing single player.
He grew up a loner.
Back at time during his visit in Japan. After giving respects at her Mother's grave, he looked around her mother's hometown and maybe hoped he could make some friends… hoped.
Mark passed the same bank that her mother had died. He felt like that the bank was awfully quiet and suspicious, so he decided to enter it. As it seems like bad luck had followed him, in front of the bank teller was a man holding a gun against a middle aged woman. Beside the woman was a little boy crying beside her as he held on his mother's skirt.
Mark's heart ached with the situation that lay before him. Would he witness another death from a robbery? Would he let the child's Mother be taken away from him like what happened to him? No, he would not.
"Hey!"
"What? Stop right there or I'll shoot!" The robber and all of the others on the bank's attention were directed at him. Mark was glad that the gun was not pointed at the Mother anymore, but he was worried it was at him it was pointed. He slowly approached the robber with his hands up.
'I don't want any trouble, can't we resolve this in a peaceful manner?' Mark said in english, confusing the armed man.
"Speak Japanese!" The robber said furiously. The bank teller used this opportunity to activate the alarm button to alert the police. The armed man noticed this pointed the gun at the bank teller.
The second the robber took away his attention from Mark, he immediately ran to the robber to disarm him of his weapon. The robber was too late to react as the boy was already in front of him. Mark grabbed the gun with his left hand and pulled it along with the robber. At the same time he elbowed the robber's nose, making him release his grip on the gun. Mark then held the stunned man's head and banged it at the front desk of the bank teller, knocking him out.
"Don't worry guys, he's down for…" before Mark could finish, the little boy shouted at him.
"Onii-chan! There's another one!" Right after the boy shouted, another robber came out of the vault room, just at the left side of the room they are in.
Before Mark could point his weapon at the other robber he already took a shot and landed on Mark's stomach. But he still tried to aim his gun at the armed man. The robber already took his second shot before Mark could fire his. The robber's shot hit Mark's chest while his shot landed on the armed man's hands, disabling him of his weapon.
"Aaaghhh!" The man shouted in pain as he tried to stop the bleeding from his hand. Mark however, fell down on his knees while still aiming at the robber. Police sirens were heard from a distance and started to come closer and closer. The robber then immediately ran out of the bank and tried to escape.
Feeling like he saved the innocent around him, Mark dropped the gun he was holding as he fell down. The people around helped him and tried to stop the bleeding but it was all useless. The damage was too severe. As he slowly lost consciousness, he smiled at the end as he thought…
'At least that boy got to spend more time with his Mom a little more…'
In an Unknown Room
Mark was sitting on a chair in a room with a checkered floor and endless dark space around him. In front of him was a white chair that looked like it was made for upper class people. Sitting in that chair was a beautiful blonde woman with short hair and green eyes. She wore a pink shoulderless dress, but what caught the boy's attention was she had white wings just like of an angel.
"Haha… So I died, huh?" Mark looked lowering his head.
"Yes. You died a few moments ago." The woman replied in the most angelic tone for him.
"I see. Before anything else, did they manage to catch the second robber that shot me?"
The Angel nodded, "Yes, and this was thanks to you. If it weren't for your actions, it wouldn't be possible."
Mark then let out a relief sigh, "Good, It would have been bad if they did it again…" he remembered his Mother for a moment. "So what happens next? Are you going to judge if I'm going to hell or heaven?"
"Something like that, but I'm not the one chosing your fate." The woman replied which confused the boy. "You are going to choose where you go to heaven or get reborn as a baby with no memories of your current life."
Mark found the first choice more appealing. If he goes to heaven, there might be a chance that he would see her mother again if she was there. If he was reborn, he would have a fresh start but he wouldn't be himself. Before he could speak up, the angel spoke again.
"But you have another choice."
"What?" was the word Mark could say.
"There is another world that is being threatened by the Devil King's army. If left alone, many families may be lost in the process. You are given the opportunity to be reincarnated to that world and put a stop to his reign of terror. It would perfect someone with a heroic heart like yours."
The boy didn't say anything while he thought about it carefully. He was tempted to save others and wanted them to lose their loved ones. He also thinks that this a second chance that he could have to live his life. But he had no powers and was afraid that if he fails, much worse could happen to them.
"That sounds nice, but I'm not that as strong as you think. I'm just a human you know. A 17-year-old teen that failed to even have friends." Mark sulked as he reminded himself of that.
"Do not fret. You will be given one special power of your choosing to aid you in your quest..." the Angel informed, which caught the boy's interest. "And you could find friends there and form a party to help you."
The word "friends" was all that was needed for him.
"I accept!"
The angel was surprised at first with his sudden reply but was glad that he did. "Very well, here are the special powers you get to choose from." She handed papers that had information of special powers in them.
At first Mark was excited when he first saw the choices, but as he read through them he noticed something. 'These are all almost useless.' He looked at the angel and asked a question.
"Uhm, can I have powers that like, give me access to weapons and equipment a game I like? The game Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 3, man I love that game…" He scratched his head as he remembered playing it. "But that would be impossible, isn't it?" he laughed at the end.
"It is possible. If that is your wish then it will be granted."
The boy was surprised and happy at the same time, "Seriously?! That's awesome!". Light golden light then appeared above him as he was given knowledge and powers of what he requested.
"Oh, that's right. Before you go let me change your clothes to something more fitting with your powers…" The Angel snapped her fingers and immediately Mark's clothes changed. Before was just wearing denim pants and a black shirt. Now he was wearing military attire, complete with body armor and helmet (Like in Spec Ops Survival mode). "And I already placed some money in your pockets to help you start. You will be able to understand their writing and language."
Mark was delighted as he inspected his new clothes. As he was doing that, a magic circle appeared and glowed cyan under his feet. He started to levitate slowly, "What's this?"
"Mark Salazar, I have received your request and now send you into that world. Your wish complies with the regulations and has been accepted." The angel stood up from her chair she was sitting and gestured an open arm. "Brave Hero, I pray that of the great many prospective heroes, you will be the one to defeat the Demon King."
Mark analyzed her words and thought, 'Oh, I guess there are other heroes in there. I hope I can make friends with them.' The angel continued talking.
"If you do so, we will grant any wish you desire as a gift from the gods!" feathers kept raining down around her.
"Now, go forth on your journey!"
Another giant magic circle appeared above and sucked Mark in. There he was transported to the new world.
At an unknown place
(At this time, Kazuma was already in here and met with his party)
Mark found himself in a middle of medieval looking town. He really felt the fantasy feeling around. The first thing he did was check what he had. He had the Belgium made pistol, the "Five Seven", two frag grenades, two flashbangs, a knife and pocket full of coins. He remembered the angel told him she gave him money, so that must be it.
'Everything seemed to be in place… but how do I equip new weapons?' He pondered it for a while before a fruit vendor near him called him out.
"You there, are you new around here? Must be, with that strange outfit you wear."
"Ah Yes, I just got here. Uhm, Do you know where I can get information around here?" Mark asked politely.
"I don't know, but you could try the Adventurers Guild. It's just straight ahead." The vendor replied.
Mark was delighted with the information, "Really? Thank you mister!" Before he started to go there, he said some last words to the vendor. "I'll come back some other time and buy some of your fruit."
"Haha. Make sure you do." The vendor waved at the boy walking away. Mark waved back at him with a smile.
'The man was really nice. Things are starting well for me.'
Mark arrived in front of the Adventurers guild. He was amazed on how it looked, a real life guild hall. Upon entering the place he saw multiple individuals equipped with either swords, staff or bows and wearing armor or robes. They were all eating at table and having fun. The boy was immediately greeted with a waitress holding mugs of beer.
"Welcome! Please take any open seat if you want to eat. If you need job guidance, the guild admission desk is over there." She then proceeded to serve the customers.
Mark nodded and proceeded to the place she pointed. At the counter, he saw a well-endowed woman with fair skin, wavy blonde hair tied back in a bun, and gold-colored eyes.
"Hello! How can I help you today?"
"Ah, I'd like to be an adventurer if it's okay." The boy nervously said.
"I see. In that case, you'll first need to pay the registration fee." The receptionist replied. Mark then reached for his pocket and took out a few coins and gave it to the woman.
The receptionist then brought out what looks like a ID card and weird lamp looking thing that had a blue orb. "Allow me to formally explain. Adventurers each have their own occupations."
She then held up the card, "This is your registration card. It keeps track of how many monsters you've vanquished. As your level increases, you'll earn points that you can use to learn skills, so please work hard to raise your level."
"Can that card see your current skills that you have?" Mark was still worried on how to access his armory.
"Yes. Now please hold your hand over the crystal."
"Okay." Mark then did what he was told. The orb started glowing and the mechanicals on it started moving. 'That's kinda cool' he thought. The device started writing something on the card like a printer.
"With this, you will learn your current status, so please select your desired occupation based on your stats." The receptionist informed him. After the printing she took the card and read the stats.
"Thank you very much. Mark Salazar, is it? Let me see… Above average on all stats. With the exception of luck that is flat average. These are really good stats for someone just starting… Huh?" The receptionist was surprised by something.
"What seems to be the problem?" Mark was worried about his card.
The receptionist looked at him and gave an assured smile, "It's not that, It's just… you already have a job class indicated. "Spec Ops", what's that?"
"Ah that! It means Special Operations, It is a term back where I came from. Hahaha…" The boy tried to find an excuse to not make him explain his whole situation.
"Okay… I guess there is no problem if you are okay with this. Well you can always change your class when you level up!" The receptionist was convinced but wasn't sure with my current job class. She handed the card to the boy and returned to her station.
Mark verified the card and saw that Spec Ops was really written there. He checked the other parts and saw his skills. Weapons Armory, Equipment Armory and Air Support Armory. 'Will I have other skills if I level up?' he thought. He went to an empty seat and tried his skills.
"Air Support Armory." A HUD opened up that was only visible to him. There he saw multiple choices which some he remembered from the game. But only one was available for him to access and it needed skill points to be usable. He saw at the card that he had 4 available points. He used one point for the "Predator Missile" skill and tried to see if it works.
"Predator Missile", a small bulky laptop appeared in his hands. He opened the laptop and was amazed on what he saw. He saw the top view of the guild hall in birds a view. Meaning there must be a Predator Drone flying on top of the town.
"This is so cool… but too dangerous to use here." Mark closed the laptop and put it away. He didn't want to accidentally fire it inside town. The next thing he did is he accessed the "Weapons Armory" and went for the Assault Rifle category. He went for the M4A1 because it was what his father made him practice before and was one of the only accessible guns at his level.
Mark spent a point on the M4A1 but for some reason he can't make it appear. He tried to see the problem and found out why. His mana was not enought. He spent most of it on the Predator Missile.
'I'm an Idiot! I should have checked it's requirements carefully! What am I going to use now? I have my pistol, but I doubt it will be enough… Wait, I think I can use this…' Mark thought of using another weapon. Something easy to use and good for close range. 'I hope this one works.'
"Model 1887." The boy spent another point on another gun at the Shotgun category. With his luck, he successfully created one. It was a US made Lever-Action Shotgun, first produced in 1887.
"Yes… I feel a little tired from doing that. Must be because I used a lot of my mana. Gotta look into that some other time." He said while he admired the gun. "Okay next, look for a quest… but I can't just go out and pick one myself. I need advice from someone experienced."
Mark then looked around the guild hall and saw almost everyone busy drinking and eating. But there was one that caught his attention. A pretty girl, a little younger than him, sitting alone and playing checkers all by herself.
'Woah, playing against herself? That's some high level skills.' Mark didn't notice that he was walking towards the girl to see how her game is doing. The girl then stopped playing and looked at him.
"Uhm. Can I help you?" The girl asked him, making the boy realize that he just walked near the girl's location.
"I'm sorry. My name is Mark. I was just looking for someone to help me do a quest." The boy scratched his head.
"Oh. My name is Yunyun. Nice to meet you.", She smiled and politely introduced herself.
"I'm sorry if I disturb your game, I was just curious on how your game is doing… And maybe ask if you could accompany me on a quest?"
Yunyun took a few moments to make his words sink in.
"I see… Eh?! Me?!"
