Everything around me seem to remain the same as if I was going to be stuck in this damn abyss forever. I don't even know if the girl will save my life again or if I'll just be dead forever.
She was the main reason I escaped the abyss the last time but I don't know that'll be the same case now.
He can feel the warm embrace around him once again as he continues to float there. "I wouldn't just leave you here by yourself, you must go back." She whispers softly in his ear.
I know I've got to go back but how am I suppose to fight off an ambush when I barely remember where they came from. A more cautious approach could work I guess but will that be enough?
"Will I even be able to stop it...?" Artemis asks with a bit of worry in his voice.
Her arms tighten just slightly around him before she speaks. "Of course you will, you've got me to help out so there's no way to lose again." She assures him as they begin to head for the light.
In most cases you would expect the light to be the thing you stray away from but this situation is a lot different from your average life or death scenarios.
Within a few seconds he opens his eyes to the sights of his party standing before him again. They were back on the path through the outskirts of Helfri, but they weren't as far in as before.
Artemis looks around in a panic as he tries to grasp how far he is from the place they were attacked at. "Can anyone use something to detect other people?" Artemis asks with a bit of panic in his voice.
I have a feeling that everyone else will start to panic too if I don't calm myself down quick but the thought of witnessing them all die again is too much. I don't want to see that happen to everyone again so this is the best approach.
"I might be able to cast something, just give me a second." Amelia says calmly as she pulls out a book.
They watch as she begins to skim through a book that no one even knew she had on her throughout their travels.
I'm willing to bet that the book she just pulled out has a bunch of different spells in it or something. My best educated guess on why she would pull it out.
I don't really know much about magic or else I'd use something of my own— or I guess it would be best to say that I dont know how to use other types of magic.
I've still been getting use to using these shadows to my advantage but have been unlucky with having full control over it.
That's when a small burst of wind goes past them as Amelia mutters something quietly to herself. It goes past them and up the path while slowly they could see two people get caught by this burst of wind.
A bright yellow light highlights around them as they all draw their weapons.
It seems that those are the attackers from before but it's a lot different if we can actually see where they are now. "Artemis why don't we stop them this time." The girls soft voice whispers to him.
The dark mist consumed his right eye like before and he charges in with a bit more confidence than before.
This time would be different, I won't let them all die before me. I will stop them before they can kill all my friends... I will change the outcome!
He arrives in front of the first guy who appears to be wearing dark leather armor with a small cloak covering his face, but it doesn't stop him from swinging his blade up.
His speed was essential in beating these guys this time before they could move to attack. Slash!!!! His blade immediately cuts up through the guys chest and comes flying out from the other side of his body.
Splurt!!!! Splatter!!!! Blood flies onto the ground as the guys blade clatters onto the floor soon after.
But as Artemis turns to face the other enemy he's already witnessing the blade coming down towards him.
Shit I wasn't fast enough to counter this guy in time and I don't see his shadow so I can't take advantage of my abilities. How will I avoid a fatal blow here..?
Clang!!!! His thoughts are immediately interrupted as Shimada stands before him with his sword drawn and blocking the enemies attack. "Don't forget that we exist Artemis, we're a party so let's stick together." Shimada speaks with his usual tone that lacks any seriousness.
It didn't need to be a serious message for me to understand that what he said was true. We are a team, all of us. I can't just charge into every fight alone when I have people willing to help me in the back.
He dashes around Shimada and brings his blade down across the enemies back, giving him no choice but to turn to face Artemis. The moment he tries to turn his back he gets slashed again from Shimada this time as they both begin to hit him with a flurry of slashes from their blades.
There was no avoiding this after they both got on a side of him. His speed wasn't enough for him to escape from either of them, not without a gap big enough to use it.
These guys were faster before because they had the element of surprise and made sure to eliminate the biggest threats. Taking down Shimada as bait to get me away from the others was what caught me off guard before.
But wasn't there an archer? I feel like something is still missing from this whole battle here. Neither of these guys seem to have a bow on them so that means one more is here somewhere.
