—Ace—
I wasn't even halfway through the door before Kai started talking. One look at his face, and my stomach dropped.
"What?" I asked sharply, already standing.
He hesitated. "June's been calling."
My brows pulled together. "So?"
"She said you weren't picking. It's urgent."
I grabbed my phone from the counter, flicked through my missed calls. Nine from her. My chest tightened.
"She didn't tell you what it was?"
Kai swallowed. "She said the police were at the company. Searching. Something about fraud."
The word punched through me like a fist to the gut. "Fraud?"
He gave a small nod. "They ransacked everything. Offices. Records. Even legal."
I didn't speak. Couldn't. For a second, I just stood there, hearing my own pulse in my ears. Then the phone was against my ear before I even registered dialing.
June answered on the first ring.
"Sir. Thank God—"
"Tell me everything. Now."
