Chapter 37

Aria's POV.

I stood in my room, my hands digging through a pile of clothes on the bed, searching for something to wear to the charity event for the homeless pack members later at night.

My heart was heavy, my mind a mess from Kael's coldness that morning, his sharp words, "Go to the room. Don't cause a scene" still stinging.

My wrists ached faintly, the red marks from his grip faded but not forgotten. My wolf, Kyra, whined, her unease mixing with mine, urging me to stay strong.

I was pretending to be Celeste, my twin sister, the Luna of the Shadow Claw pack, hiding my real name, Aria, and the weight of that lie pressed hard on my chest.

I didn't know why Kael had been so cold, why he'd pushed me away, but I had to keep going, had to play my part.

A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts, my hands pausing on a blue dress.
