📖 Chapter 33 – Our House of Secrets
POV: Dual – Ava & Julian
Themes: Memory, reclamation, facing ghosts, turning shame into story
PART 1: BACK TO WHERE IT BEGAN (POV: Ava)
The house on Willow Crest Lane was still beige. Still suburban. Still haunted.
It had been six years. But the moment I stepped inside, time folded like paper.
---
MEMORY TRIGGERS
The hallway where we first brushed hands.
The kitchen counter he lifted me onto the night everything snapped into flame.
My old bedroom. His old door.
The attic where we hid from our parents' fights.
> "Are you okay?" Julian asked behind me.
I didn't turn.
> "I don't know what to do with the girl who lived here. She was terrified of her own feelings."
He stepped beside me.
> "Then let's show her she survived."
---
PRIVATE MOMENT – JULIAN'S ROOM
We walked into the room where he once pinned me against the wall and kissed me like the world would end.
It still smelled like dust and dry wood.
Julian locked the door behind us, slow.
> "One last secret?" he asked, voice low.
And I nodded — as he laid me down on the bed we once only dreamed about.
There, in the past, we made love in the present.
Tender. Deep. Unapologetic.
After, I whispered:
> "I'm not afraid of this house anymore."
---
PART 2: DOCUSERIES – DAY ONE (POV: Julian)
We filmed in a black box studio. No sets. No filters. Just chairs and questions.
---
FIRST INTERVIEW
> "Why tell this story now?"
Julian: "Because shame only grows in the dark. And we're done living in the dark."
---
THE UNEXPECTED TURN
The director surprised us:
They brought in our parents.
Mom. His dad. The ones who married and then walked away from both of us.
> "We were trying to blend a family," his dad said. "We didn't know how to handle what you two became."
Ava, calmly:
> "You didn't have to handle it. You just had to hear us."
---
TRUTH BOMBS
Ava, to camera:
> "I wasn't groomed. I wasn't manipulated.
I fell for someone because he saw me when no one else did.
Because we were both broken and we mended each other."
Julian, later:
> "If love is only acceptable when it's convenient, it isn't love.
It's performance.
And we're done performing."
---
🔥 Chapter 33 Ends With:
A final frame of Ava and Julian seated in silence, holding hands as the camera zooms out.
Their voices overlay the scene:
> "We were the story no one wanted to hear."
"So we told it ourselves."
