Chapter 4

One year ago, Lilith appeared in front of Damian, her body covered in wounds.

She claimed that Damian had regained his powers because she had risked her life to gather mysterious herbs from Moon Mountain for him.

As a result, she had fallen off a cliff and become a vegetative person, only waking up recently.

Damian immediately concluded that I had stolen Lilith's credit and occupied a position that didn't belong to me.

Without waiting for my explanation, he slapped me hard across the face, then called for a giant wolf to attack my Moon Soul Wolf.

That day, I was mauled and left covered in wounds, unable to get out of bed for a whole month.

Now, hearing my mocking laughter, Damian's eyes blazed with anger.

He stepped on my face and said maliciously:

"Since you're so unrepentant, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

"I'm going to take a picture of this so-called 'child' right here and throw it into the fire, letting you watch it disappear with your own eyes!"

I desperately tried to crawl towards my child, letting out a final whimper from my throat, my fingertips scraping until they bled.

But he stepped on me hard, making it impossible for me to move.

I could only watch helplessly as the soul stone containing my last child was carried away.

Soon, my abdomen felt like it was being burned by a raging fire, the pain unbearable.I lost all dignity, rolling on the ground and wailing as every bone in my body shattered bit by bit under the excruciating pain.

The agony of my tendons and bones breaking made me realize that without the support of the Moon Soul Wolf, I would soon be completely obliterated.

As I lay there, on the brink of death, Damian's beta approached with a small stone ball that had been heated over the fire.

A cruel smile curled at the corners of Damian's lips:

"Since you insist this is your child, I'm going to expose your lies once and for all!"

"You claim we have a soul connection, right? If you swallow this stone, I'll let you stay in the pack!"

Ignoring my struggles, he forcibly pried open my jaw and shoved the scorching stone into my mouth, then clamped it shut to prevent me from spitting it out.

My heart shattered into a million pieces.

As our eyes met, I remembered the day he proposed to me, his eyes brimming with love and determination.

Now, that love had completely vanished.

And I, too, would soon fade into nothingness.

Seeing the despair in my eyes, Damian suddenly jolted, his legs giving out as he fell to his knees.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stand up again.

I lifted my gaze to his trembling legs and let out a bleak laugh.

"Damian, do you know what you'll face without my moon energy to heal you?"With a contemptuous glare, I uttered the final prophecy, word by word:

"Your old wounds will erupt in full force. You'll lose your ability to transform, and ultimately die in agony. This is the price for betraying the Moon Goddess."

Damian's entire body shuddered, his face pale as he gripped my throat.

But I simply closed my eyes, not making another sound.

"Selena, quit the act! Get up already! It's just a burned rock, for crying out loud! No need to act like you're dying!"

He shook me frantically, his voice involuntarily trembling.

Just as the standoff reached its peak, the doors to the hall burst open.

Elara stumbled in, collapsing to the ground when she saw my pitiful state.

"How dare you treat the Moon Goddess's chosen companion like this! If she fades away, your life will be forfeit as well!"

Damian shoved me aside, roaring:

"Elara! Has she fooled you too? My wounds are being treated with herbs that Lilith risked her life to find for me. How could I possibly need her so-called 'moon energy'?"

Damian glanced at me: "As for Selena, don't worry about her. She's just putting on an act! Get up already! Elara's here now, how long are you going to keep this charade up?"

Damian turned back, his face full of disdain, intending to pull me up.But in the next instant, he froze in place.

My body, like a broken doll sprawled on the ground, gradually became transparent before everyone's eyes.

Silver specks of light emerged from all over my body, slowly rising until they finally transformed into a beam of moonlight, completely dissipating into the air.
