Chapter 1

I was born as the true mate ordained by the Moon Goddess with the power to heal Alphas through mating.

To cure the severe leg injuries of Damian, the Alpha of the Moonlight Wolf Pack, I mated with him every night.

When Damian learned I possessed the rare blessing of the Moon Goddess, he treated the stone statue of the "Moon Soul Wolf" - the physical manifestation of my soul - as a priceless treasure.

He not only built a hundred-acre Moon Goddess Garden for it, but also invited ancient wolf sages to guard it day and night.

Three years later, simply because his childhood sweetheart Lilith had a nightmare one night.

He ordered the Moon Soul Wolf statue to be smashed, attempting to "purify" the pack and dispel the so-called "curse" for Lilith.

I desperately protected the statue, kneeling at his feet with tears blurring my vision.

"Damian, the Moon Soul Wolf is the physical projection of my soul! If destroyed, my wolf spirit will dissipate with it!"

I begged, "Your wounds aren’t fully healed yet. If I die, the Moon Goddess will withdraw her protection from you too!"

But he remained coldly indifferent, his lips curling into a mocking smile as he waved his hand to completely shatter the statue, its fragments scattered before me."You used this lie of the Moon Goddess' companion to bind me for three whole years. Not exposing you was already my greatest mercy!"

"It's just a worthless rock. If it can bring Lilith peace, then it's worth it. At worst, I'll find you a new moonstone to carve!"

That night, my entire body felt as if it had been pierced by thousands of arrows. My wolf spirit was gradually disintegrating.

I dragged my broken body, crawling all night to reach the treehouse of Elara, the oldest and wisest in the wolf pack.

When I stood before her, my eyes were already a mix of blood and tears.

"A hundred years ago, the ancestors of the Moonshade Pack swore allegiance to the Moon Goddess, and She in turn blessed you with a century of peace."

"Now that the Moon Spirit Wolf has been destroyed, and my soul will soon dissipate, I fear I no longer have the strength to protect you, your leader!"

Elara caught sight of the silver blood covering my body, and this usually unshakable old shaman almost couldn't stand.

Her hands trembled, her eyes filled with grief.

"Oh, the chosen companion of the Moon Goddess, I warned and pleaded with Damian countless times to protect your Moon Soul Wolf."

"How dare he destroy the sacred totem for such a lying woman!"

I collapsed to my knees in agony, a bitter smile involuntarily creeping onto my lips.

Last night, when I sensed danger and rushed to the Moon Goddess Garden, Damian had already ordered the destruction of the totem.

I knelt at his feet, enduring soul-rending pain, only to see him tightly holding Lilith by the waist, softly comforting her.

When he looked at me, his eyes held nothing but poorly concealed disgust.

"Selena, where did you conjure up all this fake blood? If Lilith has nightmares because of this, you won't be able to bear the consequences!"

"I'll never believe your lies again. You've used these tactics to drag me into your bed for three whole years. Don't you feel any shame?"

I stood rooted to the spot, feeling a sharp pain deep in my soul.

Damian sneered, raising his hand to completely shatter the totem, fragments flew into my face.

I clutched my agonizing chest with both hands, using the last bit of my moon energy to barely form a protective spell.

But the excruciating pain deep in my soul didn't diminish at all. Damian looked at me coldly as I lay curled up on the ground, without a shred of pity.

"Enough, stop acting! I'm sick of this charade!"

He shouted harshly: "Only old Elara would believe your nonsense about being chosen by the Moon Goddess. If you love performing so much, go put on a show for her!"

Remembering his icy, heartless gaze, the silver blood in my chest began to churn again.

I violently coughed up a mouthful of blood filled with moon fragments, my voice was barely audible.

"I don't blame him...I only blame myself for misjudging someone. I thought he was the werewolf worth giving everything for."

"The next full moon is in three days. Without my lunar energy infusion, the old wounds in his body will flare up again...I'm powerless to change things now."

Hearing this, Elara closed her eyes in anguish.

"Selena, you were born with a moon soul. Surely you can be reborn with the Moon Goddess's power, right?"

"Damian hurt you so terribly for another woman. I have no right to ask for your forgiveness."

"I'll find a sacred place bathed in moonlight and lay the totem fragments there with you. Whatever it takes, I'll help restore your moon soul!"

"I only ask that you give Damian one last chance, for the sake of the Moon Shadow pack's past covenant with the Moon Goddess!"Elara fell to her knees before me, her forehead touching the ground deeply.

I clutched my chest, laughing with unspeakable bitterness.

Repairing a soul wasn't impossible, but it required enduring immense suffering, direct intervention from the Moon Goddess, and undergoing the cruel test of the full moon.

I had originally planned to agree, but suddenly, an excruciating pain tore through my abdomen.

My entire body trembled as I collapsed to the ground, the congealed silver blood seeping out from every pore once again.

My chest felt as if it had been violently ripped open, the pain was unbearable.

Amidst my piercing screams, the door to the treehouse was brutally shoved open.

Damian's Beta henchman strode in, contemptuously kicking me with his boot.

"Luna, quit the act already. The Alpha commands you to return immediately for tonight's full moon ceremony!"

"He says if you don't show up, he'll throw all the pieces of that statue into the fire!"
