13: Walking Into Doom

"I'll entrust that in your hands. Make it a smooth and flawless banquet. Oversee its preparation. It'll be held in a few days. So hurry up"

"Yes Your Highness" Elvis calmly agreed.

"You've already brought me the shame and loss. And I'm pretty sure gossip is already flying around. So it's a banquet for the nobles. And it's meant to at least restore my image amongst them" King Edward explained.

"So make sure nothing goes wrong this time around. Else it's over for you" It was a threat.

"I'll do as you instruct" Elvis accepted. Even though he wasn't in the best condition to run around arranging for an urgent banquet, he still accepted.

He couldn't vex his Royal father any further. He would have to serve his punishment while preparing for the banquet with his sickness.

"That should do it. At least a banquet should put the nobles in the royal court at ease" The King mumbled with a nod.

"Get out of my sight and begin preparing" He ordered.

"Yes" Elvis left the Royal Hall.

While he made his way to his room, he aggressively placed a hand over his chest in pain. Gripping his chest while coughing profusely.

He had grown pale and weak. The rashes constantly makimg him uncomfortable with dizziness disrupting him at intervals.

It was all the wizard's doing, so he thought. Everything was because of the wizard. Thus the thought of the wizard constantly made him boil up.

"My Prince, You don't look so good!" His personal butler, Mr George, had rushed towards him as soon as he saw him nearing his room.

"I'm Okay!" Elvis coughed as he made his way into his room, trying to keep himself intact.

"You need to see the royal physician. I will go call him!" Mr George offered.

"No" Elvis snapped at him "Don't get any Physician involved" The words of Eden were still vivid in his head.

"....." The Butler didn't know what to say. All he could do was worry about the prince.

"A banquet will be held in a few days. I have to begin making the preparations" Elvis informed.

"But You don't look well at all" Mr George pointed out.

"It doesn't matter. It's my responsibility. And responsibilities come first"

*********

Eden had changed up. Now he was all alone in the guestroom where he was kept.

He was alone. His guide, Lenny, was nowhere to be seen. So he didn't know what to do.

"Did he go missing?" Eden thought "Did he get eaten by something in the river or what?"

He was worried about the cat and at the same time worried about himself. He was in a danger zone. And based off him observation, Adrian was more dangerous than Elvis!

He was manipulative in his own seductive ways. Unpredictable at times and was the most skilfully in the arts of fighting amongst the leads.

Eden knew it would be hard to out-smart him like he did with Elvis. And he also couldn't run away. It was just impossible.

All he could do was pray for Lenny to return.

For the first time since he entered this novel, Eden saw himself in a mirror. A full-length mirror in the guest room he was in.

He was still the same old Eden from the modern time. Pretty face and a perfect figure. But the difference was in his dressing code and hairstyle which was now blonde. So there was nothing much to see.

It wasn't like most transmigration books he knew where they took another body. It was the same him. As though the author freaking had him in mind while writing this villain character or something.

The villain was also called the wizard of EL. His real name or something was never mentioned. He guessed he could use his real name, Eden, in here as well

Just as Eden admired his pretty face that hasn't touched makeup since he came into this ruthless world, he heard a sneeze.

Lenny popped up.

"You're back! You weren't eaten by the sea creatures!" Eden picked him from the ground and squeezed the cat into his arms.

"Breath. Air... Let... Me go..." Lenny groaned for air.

"Oh sorry" Eden dropped the cat "Where the hell did you go? I was so damn worried about my life. And also your life and all, but still"

Lenny sighed "Well I got out of the river after almost dying there. Luckily I could transform into a fish for a minute and get out"

Lenny looked around "And I tracked you down here...."

Lenny paused "Where the hell are you?"

"In one of the male lead's mansions. The marquis guy"

Lenny blinked "Oh that's not good. He also wants you dead. How did you comfortably walk into your doom??"

Eden sighed "It wasn't as if I could run away from him. He'd kill me quickly by then. Besides I didn't even know who he was till I got here"

"Well you can at least be sure that he's plotting your death right now" Lenny shrugged.

Eden folded his arms with a sharp pout "I have to find a way out of here without alerting him. Because the moment I do, he'll have my head"

"He sure will"

"Do you have any ideas? I can't think of anything now" Eden stared at him.

Lenny sighed "Well.. we have to plan an escape. Since we're powerless, that's the best option. Perhaps tonight" Night was already drawing near.

"How are we...." Eden was about asking how they'd go about it when a knock came on his door.

"Who?" Eden asked. Alert.

"Sir. The Lord calls you to join him for some tea" The maid's voice came from outside.

Eden stared at Lenny. They both blinked and then looked at the door.

"Tell him I'll be joining him in a while" Eden said.

"Sure" The maid was soon gone.

Eden gasped softly "A tea party? So he wants me dead sooner than I thought"
