Before the princess went south, it was said that the person she liked most was him. Now he had to stay and guard the Bai Family's Business for the princess. Our leader liked the princess and wanted to marry into her household, so he had to get along well with the princess's favorite attendant first.
Also, think about it. If the princess returned from the south and found the man she liked most badly hurt by Lord Gregory, she would be heartbroken and angry. Our leader would get involved in trouble because of this.
"Oh... so that's how it is? Hah, the princess's household is complicated. It's easier to share a wife."
"Heh, the competition in the princess's household is complicated, but we haven't even had the chance to get in."
"... Sigh, that's true. Let's wait and see how long it takes our leader to get into the princess's household."
Everyone in the Bai Family's Business knew who the real owner was.
They also knew that their current leader, Damon, admired the princess.
Whenever the princess sent a letter, even if Damon was outside leading them against rebels, he would immediately change course to rush back to the business just to see her letter sooner.
And everything the princess instructed in her letters was done carefully and without fault.
Although most people in the business were brought in by Damon and had never met the princess, because of Damon's actions, his men privately called him the princess's attendant.
He was so handsome and tall, and the princess valued him. Surely, he would enter the princess's household soon.
The complicated relationships in the household were for Damon to figure out. They would quietly support him and enjoy the show.
Hearing their chatter, Damon, who was riding ahead, turned and glared at them.
"What are you all still chatting about? Ride faster!"
His two deputies immediately straightened up and replied seriously.
"Yes! Don't worry, leader! We will complete the princess's mission perfectly!
Outside Plumera City, outside the General Qi Mansion.
In these few months, Francis had stayed in the mansion, training the three hundred handsome men for Elara. He had turned each of them into strong men with muscle and wheat-colored skin.
He himself had become a fair-skinned young man with clear muscles all over his body.
Watching the rough men inside the estate doing various exercises without a trace of the usual male pet look, Francis nodded with satisfaction.
Good, the result he wanted was achieved.
That woman asked him to train the men. Hmph, this was his training result.
He thought happily about how she would react when faced with this group of muscular, wheat-colored men.
Suddenly, a panic-filled cry and running sounded from afar.
He turned and saw a group of very poorly dressed commoners fleeing out from Plumera City.
His brow furrowed immediately.
In the past months, the number of refugees outside the four gates of Plumera City had decreased a lot. The scene of suffering outside the city had eased, which had lifted his mood.
Although the number of refugees had decreased, there were still occasional people fleeing from all places, begging for food inside the city.
But this was the first time he saw people running out of the city in such panic.
He was about to ask someone about the situation when a scream suddenly came from the back of the fleeing group.
He turned quickly and saw a sharp knife suddenly stab through one of the commoners.
Bright red blood sprayed out like a fountain, splashing the people nearby, who immediately screamed in fright.
Francis's eyes widened. The stabbed man collapsed, then a boot wearing an official shoe kicked him harshly aside.
Next, a whole group of soldiers in Plumera City's garrison uniform raised their knives with one hand and held reins with the other.
They shouted curses and laughed wildly, waving their sharp knives and spears as they violently attacked the fleeing, unarmed commoners in front of their horses.
"Stop!!"
Just as the soldiers were about to stab the commoners, a heavy, slender bronze spear suddenly appeared.
The sharp clang of metal on metal rang out. The spear looked to weigh at least fifty or sixty jin, but Francis held it easily with one hand.
With a sharp flick of the spear tip, the weapon in the soldier's hand was knocked flying.
"Who did I think it was? So it's Francis, the male pet in the princess's back garden. I heard the princess took your brother in too a few months ago. I wonder which of you is more favored."
The captain of the garrison soldiers sneered, staring brightly at Francis with mocking eyes.
The other soldiers laughed loudly at their captain's words.
Francis's face darkened, ignoring the soldiers' shameless stares. He held the bronze spear and walked to the trembling commoners, asking in an angry voice.
"What are you doing? You are garrison soldiers, but you are driving the commoners away like bandits!"
The captain sneered with hostile eyes toward Francis.
He thought about how Lord Gregory had recently ordered the siege of the Qi family, the princess's mansion, and even the palace itself. The Qi family was a thorn in Lord Gregory's side. He could trample on them however he liked.
"Francis, you're just a male pet without any official position. If you don't study how to please in bed, how do you have the right to interfere? I'll be kind and tell you. These troublemakers have all committed crimes and need to be imprisoned. But since they tried to escape, I must pursue them. Those who refuse arrest will be killed on the spot."
As the captain finished, cries of injustice came from the trembling commoners.
"Injustice! Sir, we only go out to beg for food daily. We stay inside our houses otherwise. How could we have a chance to commit crimes?"
A young man among the commoners shouted bravely, realizing Francis was their only hope. He crawled to Francis's side, grabbing his leg and crying.
"Sir, we didn't do anything! It was these soldiers who suddenly barged into our homes. Without asking questions, they dragged my uncle's whole family out and killed them with false charges!"
Other commoners who had barely understood the situation swallowed nervously and added their voices.
"Yes, sir! We didn't try to escape! These soldiers suddenly arrested everyone on our street and killed many people! We were scared and had to run away!"
"Sir, if you don't believe us, you can go into the city now! Almost all the households on West Street have been arrested! Many have died!"
"The dark blood stains cover half the ground on West Street!"
The captain seemed tired of the commoners' cries. He waved his hand impatiently. The soldiers behind him quickly moved forward and surrounded Francis and the commoners.
"Francis, you're just a male pet. This isn't your business. Get lost."
