Chapter 40: An Honest Promise with Misaki-senpai

For Renji Kamisaka, the chance encounter with Nanami Aoyama was a pleasant surprise, an unexpected bonus point in his daily routine. After heading to the convenience store, he bought the wine for Misaki, and with a charming smile, he asked Nanami to pay him back later.

Nanami Aoyama, still feeling indebted and thinking of treating him to a meal as thanks, blushed. A little nervously, she asked for Renji's phone number. Renji Kamisaka naturally gave it to her, ensuring their contact remained. He wasn't in a hurry to complete the system's task to have Nanami move into Sakurasou. There was time for that, and he enjoyed savoring the process.

Just back at Sakurasou, Renji Kamisaka was greeted with a warm surprise. A fragrant, soft body launched itself at him.

"Woah..." Renji staggered slightly, but deftly balanced himself.

"Renji-Xixi, you're finally back!" A cheerful, slightly hoarse voice filled his ears. Renji Kamisaka looked closer and found that it was Misaki Kamiigusa, flushed and clearly drunk. Her eyes sparkled, her blonde hair a little messy.

"Yeah, I'm back," replied Renji softly, steadying Misaki to keep her from falling. "Misaki-senpai, why did you drink alone without waiting for me? And you asked me to bring wine?"

Chihiro Sengoku emerged from the side, her annoyed aura already palpable even before she spoke, and naturally took the plastic bag of beer from Renji's hand. "I asked you to bring this." Her tone was flat, but there was a hint of weariness there.

Renji Kamisaka fell silent abruptly, a wry smile forming on his lips. He hugged Misaki Kamiigusa gently, stroking her flushed back with soothing motions. After ensuring his senior had calmed down a bit, he turned to Chihiro Sengoku, his tone teasing. "What, Sengoku-sensei failed her blind date again?"

Chihiro Sengoku's eyes flared, her gaze sharp as a knife. "You naughty boy, you know everything but you didn't say it. If you had, I wouldn't have given you money for that beer!"

"Alright, consider it my treat," Renji shrugged casually, "but I still hope you drink less, drinking isn't good for your health."

Chihiro Sengoku glared at him, her face sour, her expression a mix of exasperation and a touch of jealousy. "Stop talking nonsense. You're not going to marry me, so why do you care if I drink or not?" She said it angrily, glancing enviously at Misaki Kamiigusa who was crying in Renji's arms, then turned and walked back to her administrator's office, her footsteps sounding heavy.

Renji Kamisaka shook his head helplessly, a faint smile still plastered on his lips. He greeted Sayu Ogiwara, who had come out to meet him with a concerned look. Then he picked up Misaki Kamiigusa and ran straight to his room, the warmth of Misaki's trembling body feeling soft in his arms.

Even when he settled her onto his lap, Misaki Kamiigusa didn't stop crying. "Wah, how could Jin be like this?" she sobbed, her voice muffled against Renji's chest. "Renji-Xixi, do you think he has no conscience at all? How many times did I indulge his terrible plans just to make anime together? In the end, he left without saying anything. He didn't answer my calls and even blocked me."

Misaki Kamiigusa was deeply saddened, her tears soaking Renji's shirt. After all, Jin Mitaka was the man she had admired before, her childhood sweetheart. They had also worked hard together to produce many animations. It could be said that they were partners who pursued their dreams together. Misaki was also happy to have such a person supporting her career and dreams. But one day, this partner quietly left this place and blocked her phone calls. It was clear he didn't want any contact with her anymore. This was a breakup. Misaki Kamiigusa felt deeply betrayed, her heart feeling empty.

Listening to her lament, Renji Kamisaka sighed. He knew this was his chance. "I'm sorry, Misaki-senpai. I think Mitaka-senpai must have left because of the project I gave you." He looked at Misaki with a deliberately sympathetic gaze, his eyes reflecting guilt. "He probably thought you already had a partner like me and didn't need him anymore. I'm sorry, if I hadn't written that plan, Senior Jin Mitaka wouldn't have left, and you wouldn't be this sad right now." He deliberately showed a self-blaming expression to trick the naive senior, playing his role perfectly.

Seeing Renji's guilty expression, Misaki Kamiigusa wrapped her arms around his neck and bumped his chest with her forehead, like a cat seeking comfort. "You silly junior, how could I blame you for this?" she said, her voice slightly annoyed but full of affection. "Your plan is very good. I was interested and wanted to work with you. I'm the one who got involved with you!"

Renji Kamisaka gently touched Misaki's hair, stroking it attentively, and said sincerely, "But... Misaki-senpai likes him, right?"

Misaki Kamiigusa shook her head vigorously, her hair swaying. "No, I don't like playboys who have six girlfriends at once."

Renji Kamisaka scratched his cheek awkwardly, his smile a little wry. "Now I seem to be playing on both sides."

"This is different!" Misaki snorted, lifting her head to look at Renji.

"What's the difference? I won't hide it from you, Senior. I'm very greedy," Renji confessed, his gaze deep. "I already have Sayu, but I'm still obsessed with senpai. I'm a scumbag."

Misaki Kamiigusa hugged his neck tightly, as if seeking protection. "No, you're different!" She couldn't say for sure what the difference was, why Renji felt different from Jin. But with her head spinning from alcohol, she looked into Renji's gentle eyes, full of guilt and self-reproach. Without thinking, she brought her lips closer to Renji.

"Let me forget all these worries, Little Brother Renji."

"Hmmmm..." Seeing Misaki say that, Renji Kamisaka naturally wouldn't be polite. The kiss was deep and passionate, erasing every trace of Misaki's sadness.

His passive skill entry automatically triggered. He hugged his senior sister and lay together, feeling the warmth spread. I still have to thank Sayu. This skill is truly amazing. Renji was certain that after tonight, Jin Mitaka's figure would definitely disappear from Misaki Kamiigusa's heart. Instead, Renji Kamisaka's figure would dominate. Jin Mitaka didn't have the courage to confess his feelings and felt inferior, not wanting to defile Misaki Kamiigusa. But Renji Kamisaka wouldn't be polite, especially when Misaki Kamiigusa was the one taking the initiative when something started to happen.

The next day, morning light slipped through the gaps in the curtains, gently touching their faces. Kamiigusa Misaki opened her eyes in a daze, her head still throbbing slightly. When she saw Sayu Ogiwara who had fallen asleep beside him, she couldn't help but cover her face in embarrassment. Why was Sayu Ogiwara here?

It was because Misaki was truly exhausted last night and had to call Sayu for support. As a result, Sayu also ended up pleading for mercy from her. Though this embarrassing incident repeated itself, Kamiigusa Misaki found herself not tormented by regret. It was clear that Jin Mitaka's departure led her to drink sadly and seek comfort from Renji Kamisaka.

But now she suddenly felt that Jin Mitaka wasn't that great. I guess the halo of a childhood sweetheart was what caused the problem. Besides, Jin Mitaka himself also liked to talk dirty. After all, he was a playboy who could date six girlfriends at once, even Misaki's older sister was one of Jin Mitaka's girlfriends. Playboys are quite skilled at seducing girls. After some time, Misaki had once been captivated by Jin Mitaka.

But now, compared to Renji Kamisaka, Jin Mitaka was just... that. No matter how great his ability to charm girls, he couldn't resist the temptation to go straight into the girl's heart through Renji Kamisaka. It could be said it was achieved in one step. Moreover, compared to a man who left without a word for no clear reason, Kamiigusa Misaki felt that Renji Kamisaka, who was willing to drink with her and make her plead for mercy, was more worthy of affection.

Lost in thought, Renji Kamisaka moved his hand, pulling Misaki Kamiigusa tightly into his arms.

"Good morning, Misaki-senpai," Renji whispered, his voice hoarse but gentle.

"Alright, Renji-kun, good morning," Misaki replied, her beautiful eyes fluttering, and a blush appearing on her pretty face. But she didn't resist his embrace, instead leaning in slightly. She changed the way she addressed him, from the teasing "Renji-Xixi" to "Renji-kun." This was her initial acknowledgment of the fact that Renji was her man.

Renji Kamisaka gently caressed her hair and couldn't help but ask, "Misaki-senpai, what do you think? About our relationship and the future?"

Kamiigusa Misaki pressed her cheek against his chest and asked with a smile, "Then Mr. Renji, what do you want us to do in the future?"

Renji Kamisaka didn't hide it either. "I hope you'll always stay in Sakurasou, Misaki." He paused for a moment, looking into Misaki's eyes. "I don't want to lie to you. I'm a scumbag who likes to mess around with women. There will be other girls in the future, but I'll try to make everyone around me happy. If not... I won't enter into a legitimate relationship with anyone."

When Kamiigusa Misaki heard this, she couldn't help but pout. "You're really greedy. Have you been misled by Jin?"

Renji Kamisaka didn't refute. It was good if Jin Mitaka took the blame. "So what do you think, Misaki-senpai? Am I qualified?"

As he spoke, his passive skill activated, an invisible aura influencing Misaki's thoughts. Kamiigusa Misaki's cheeks reddened deeper, her breathing becoming slightly heavier.

"You're so wicked!" What else could she say? Neither she nor Sayu Ogiwara were suitable. Although Misaki was displeased, it seemed she had no choice but to acknowledge Renji's capabilities.

Misaki Kamiigusa pouted and said seriously, "I've decided to maintain our current relationship with you, just like Sayu-chan. There's no need to confirm this relationship. I just want to make animation now. I want to fulfill my dream and become a famous animation producer!" Her determination burned brightly again.

"No problem, let's work hard together!" Renji Kamisaka smiled and nodded, encouraging her. "Senior, I will definitely help you and make you satisfied. Look forward to my next plan."

"So, how are the preparations for the Magical Girl Misaki animation production?" Renji asked, his tone shifting to a professional one.

Misaki Kamiigusa rubbed her cheek against the man's chest and said intimately, "We're still waiting for Eri Spencer to meet me for a more detailed discussion before we can officially start. But I've carefully read the plan and script you gave me these past few days. I'm sure those plans and scripts will make it easy for that teacher to draw."

The man and woman, who had just been discussing sensitive topics like scumbag men and dating, actually began to talk about work seriously. Renji Kamisaka indeed possessed the skill to seize that golden opportunity. After having fun with Renji Kamisaka, Kamiigusa Misaki truly forgot about Jin Mitaka's departure and instead focused more on making animation. Renji Kamisaka, this cunning man, didn't give Kamiigusa Misaki a chance to continue her complicated thoughts. As Misaki requested, he let her forget all her worries and keep calling him.
