Power in your hands

The carriage sways both ways as I latch on to my seat. It has been exactly eleven days to pack things up and send me to the main palace. I haven't met Vernon ever since Queen Eliza sent him off. I have noticed a couple of things off in these few days. My foster parents don't expect me to succeed. They didn't even bother hiding that fact.

Secondly, this trip is a big deal for veronica. By the official records she hasn't been to any official events since her brother had become the king. No public appearances, No tea parties nothing. Which is apparently unusual, and hence became the gossip of the town for a while now.

"Second princess Veronica of Aliea, The kingdom of Malgedon welcomes you." A sturdy young man extends his hand to me. Am I supposed to take it? Is that allowed? I don't know how things work here. That became clear as days passed.

I hover my hand over his to see his reaction. He seemed to be waiting for me to initiate contact so I did as he expected. A polite smile washes over him as he says, "watch your step".

The palace of Aliea was nothing compared to the palace of Malgedon. The gold plated pillars. The heavily embroidered curtains. The well maintained gardens with ponds and statues made of pure marble. All of these gave off an overwhelming but posh aura to the surrounding. The palace itself was an embodiment of the posh surroundings.

Just as I enter the main hallway I see another monarch walking towards my direction. You might think that I found it off of her clothing or her dominating presence, It would have been true if I hadn't spent my time studding the monarchs of this time and history of Aliea. At one point all that was running through my head was different types of fork and salads.

"Princess of Aliea, Its good to see you around." she says with a pleasing smile. The smile could fool me but not her eyes.

"Queen of Veleir, Its a pleasure to see you." I say with my most apathetic smile.

The temperature dropped a few degrees as I said that. I need to know why she loathes my presence.

"You look really pale. Is it the temperature or is it those cloths."

"I really don't know. You tell me."

She seemed stunned at my snide remark but recomposes herself a second after.

"I look forward to see you in the near future." She says with a composed smile as she pats my back.

Guess my luck ran off already. Out of all the people I've read about she was one of the people I dreaded to meet. Not only was her records perfect she was the second largest kingdom after Malgedon and the only kingdom with no king. Yet. Their kingdom and Malgedon would dominate the other kingdoms if they were to join each other in matrimony.

I look around more before I reach a private chamber at the furthest end.

"I shall take my leave princess of Aliea" The man bows and leaves. I guess they have no fear of robbed as the guests are all from royal lineage. Still it is a bit unsettling to leave you guests unattended isn't it? or is my past speaking to me again.

Well, now that I am finally outside I can do something as I please. The mirror shows an image of a green eyed, dark haired girl again. No matter how many times I look at it, I still feel unsettled. But now that I look closes I do look pale. The wind must have got to me.

I pick out a dark brown cloak over my evening gown as I leave the room.

"What do you think you are doing?" A maid asks me.

"Excuse me? I'm taking a walk."

The old woman scoffed at my reply. "You know your father asked me to take care of you and report to him if you did anything unruly."

"Okay,so?" I say as I contain my agitation. That old geezer thinks I need a babysitter. God just how low does he think of me.

"You never go out. So why now? Are you planning on something?"

Now that put me in an awkward position. The maids in my palace never treated me like they were supposed to anyway. but this. I can not except. I cant let people walk over me cause once you do you better be ready to be squashed in a stampede.

"I'm sorry I still don't get you. Are you dictating me on what to do?"

She seemed flustered now that I accused her of something. Before she can start her drivel I cut in by saying "I know you can not do that anyway. So why try? I am going out so suit yourself."

I give her a second before I slam the door shut. Why is palace life so dramatic. I walk around avoiding the lobby's where they take the other royals and spend my time loitering around.

One thing for sure the kingdom of malgedon has a lot to spare not an inch of this palace is left bare. It had either artifacts or places for the knights to stand guard. From the time I had started loitering till now I hadn't seen any blind spots which weren't covered by the knights. Whoever did this has a good eye.

A sudden chime echos

"Congrats visitor, The story has officially begun. enjoy your stay"

This time I control my tongue and my heart. The urge to run tingles my knees but I stay put. I take a careful look around. As suspected no one is around my vicinity to be so loud. That means it could have only been heard by me. This means one thing, I am hallucinating or I have finally gone mad.

Well damnit. I start running back to my chambers again. As soon as I reached my bed my knees buckled and gave off. The nearby maids snicker to themself as they see me in such a sight.

I don't have time for this. That's the last thing I remember thinking before I passed out.
