King's Resolve

When Kassadin and Ezreal were ordered to rush over, they learned at the King's Gate front that Liam had already returned to Greymane Manor, so they hurried over here as quickly as possible.

Both heroes were experts in spatial teleportation, especially Kassadin. They both realized that something might have happened, so they rushed over at full speed. The Void Walker sensed Liam's location and directly jumped into the room imprisoned by the magic circle, while Ezreal took on the responsibility of resolving other troubles—a Dreadlord was leading a group of demons and undead, massacring the royal guards in the manor and all living creatures!

It was none other than Grand Warlock Tichondrius's deputy, the Dreadlord Mal'Ganis! The Dreadlord who had once bewitched Jaina, Arthas, and the paladin Barthilas during the Scholomance attack!

This time, it didn't use those tricks to deceive people, but directly revealed its true form. It summoned a huge Hellfire in the courtyard, commanding a large number of demons and undead to rush into the manor, killing anyone they saw and destroying any living creature!

The sounds of fighting and screams filled the entire manor. When Ezreal used Arcane Shift to enter, he saw a tragic scene of corpses everywhere and fires everywhere!

He quickly judged the direction of the demons' attack, teleported through space again, and after killing a few minor characters along the way, he finally found a group of survivors who were fleeing—Royal Physician Krennan was leading Princess Tess to the lookout tower behind the manor. It was the tallest building in the entire manor, and there was a cable that could lead directly to the sea from the tower of the lookout tower, where escape ships were always prepared!

More than a dozen loyal guards protected their retreat, but the evil enemies were chasing after them relentlessly. They kept falling, and the suspended ladder to the lookout tower was high and steep. No one knew whether they could reach the top before the demons killed all the guards.

Krennan protected Princess Tess, hurriedly rummaging through his medicine box for a bottle of potion, and stuffed it into Tess's hand, shouting, "Drink it, Tess! Quick!"

Tess was flustered and grieved. Her mother… She didn't take her unconscious mother away… When she was awakened by the maid and fled, she saw a large number of demons smashing through the walls and rushing into the room where her mother was. No one escaped from inside. Then she met Doctor Krennan, who came to look for her, and they fled here together.

Her tear-reddened eyes were swollen, but her tear glands could no longer shed tears, leaving only dry pain tormenting this originally carefree girl.

In just a few days, she had experienced disasters that ordinary people would never encounter in their entire lives. She didn't even know if her brother was safe.

"…Liam, please appear before me… Brother…" She choked weakly, feeling extremely uncomfortable. She didn't even dare to imagine what Liam had encountered. She was afraid that from now on, she would be the last of the Greymane name.

When Krennan handed her the potion, she asked in a hoarse voice, "What is this medicine?"

"An invisibility potion! Drink it quickly, or it will be too late!" Krennan urged.

Tess hesitated a little. Thinking of her deceased parents and her brother, who was almost certainly dead, she suddenly felt that life was meaningless. She pushed the bottle back, her hoarse voice sounding extremely lost: "No, I don't need it anymore. Krennan, thank you. You drink it!"

Krennan stared at her with bloodshot eyes, roaring angrily: "Tess, what are you thinking! Drink it quickly! Now!"

The old man, over half a century old, was like an angry lion. He had never said such harsh words to any member of the Greymane family. Tess knew it was for her own good, but she couldn't see a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

Only the last four or five guards remained, and they were all buying time for her. Every slogan of "For Greymane" and "For Gilneas" made her heart tremble. It represented one loyal guard after another sacrificing themselves for her escape. She could even call out each of their names.

"Go quickly, Princess!"

"We'll hold them off! Block the demons!"

The last few people stood in a row, blocking the narrow spiral staircase. One of the court mages cast a spell to shatter the passage behind them, completely cutting off their escape route, and also cutting off the demons' pursuit.

"For Greymane!"

Tess, who had turned the corner, could no longer see their figures, but the slogan struck her heart like a heavy hammer, making it almost impossible for her to breathe.

Although the royal guards tried their best to block them and shattered a section of the spiral staircase, it was almost useless for those enemies who could fly.

Mal'Ganis was the biggest threat among them. It revealed a cruel smile, rows of sharp teeth were hideous and terrifying, and its green eyes were extremely evil. It flew up, approaching the final target.

Princess Tess drank the invisibility potion. This product of alchemy and magic completely merged her form with the surrounding colors, disappearing suddenly. Krennan resolutely led the remaining people in another direction, while ordering Tess to quietly head to the escape route.

But before they were completely separated, Mal'Ganis, this powerful Dreadlord, landed in front of them. It stared straight in the direction of Tess, its eyes full of teasing: "This little trick can only deceive the ignorant."

The last two remaining court mages hurriedly summoned elements. A fireball and a ball of arcane energy roared towards Mal'Ganis, but they were all completely negated by a dark green magic barrier, without harming the demon behind the barrier in the slightest.

Krennan, Tess, and everyone accompanying them fell into despair.

"It's my turn, let's see if you can defend against it!" Mal'Ganis teased these weak humans to its heart's content. It strode forward, raising its blood-stained claws.

The lookout tower was not spacious. It housed a sophisticated telescope, which Tess once loved to use to watch the starry night sky and the waves of the sea. This manor was originally a place for the Greymane family to vacation and take refuge, but when it was designed, it did not take into account the terrifying creatures such as demons that needed to be defended against.

They had nowhere to escape.

Was the Greymane family going to be completely buried here?

Krennan despaired. He could not see a glimmer of hope.

Just as Mal'Ganis was preparing to slaughter, a crescent-shaped golden barrage suddenly shot out. It did not expect to be attacked at all, so it was almost unguarded. The huge magical energy pierced through its chest, knocking it away and onto the edge of the lookout tower. It tried its best to steady itself, not falling directly down.

But then a human suddenly appeared beside it. He raised his left arm, which had a bow made of magical energy, and his right arm condensed several energy arrows.

"Swish, swish, swish!"

Three energy arrows shot towards him. At such close range, Mal'Ganis couldn't defend at all. The impact of the energy arrows was like the last straw that broke the camel's back, completely ruining the balance he had struggled to maintain. The dreadlord screamed and fell from the watchtower.

The distance to the ground was several hundred feet, enough to shatter even a stone. One could imagine what kind of treatment Mal'Ganis would receive.

Ezreal walked to the wall and looked down. The dreadlord hadn't even landed yet. He counted down, "Three, two, one," and with a loud bang, a cloud of dust and rocks erupted near the dreadlord's landing point at the bottom of the cliff.

"Got him!" He retracted his gaze and smiled at the stunned survivors. "Hello! Does anyone need a map? Ah, no, I mean, does anyone need help?"

——

After Liam was led out of the room by Kassadin, he heard sounds all around him. The entire manor was ablaze, and everywhere he looked were the incomplete corpses of guards and servants. He immediately thought of his mother, still asleep due to the hypnotic magic.

"Was she rescued? What about Tess? How are they?"

Liam's heart trembled, and he rushed madly towards the room where his mother had been. Kassadin had to protect him, clearing all the enemies in his path: demons and undead.

When Liam rushed into his mother's room, he saw the most tragic and desperate scene of his life—a fearsome doomguard had just retracted its blood-stained blade, and another burning infernal was setting the unblinking corpse ablaze—the face was facing him, it was his mother, Queen Mia Greymane!

The bloody scene before him made Liam's mind go blank. He couldn't feel his body, nor his emotions, only endless emptiness and indifference.

'What happened?'

'Demons killed Mother.'

'I will avenge her.'

'I will avenge Father.'

'I will avenge Gilneas.'

'Kill these two demons.'

'But what about my body?'

'Why am I not moving?'

'What am I doing?'

'Who... am I?'

Kassadin took everything in. He saw that the prince's spirit was on the verge of collapse.

He had endured too much pressure and suffered enormous blows in a short period of time. His mental state was also extremely exhausted due to lack of rest.

Someone with a slightly weaker ability to withstand such events would probably have been tortured to madness long ago. The fact that he could persevere until this moment was enough to prove his strong will.

Kassadin had seen madmen before. His nemesis, the Void Prophet Malzahar, was one of them.

He had his own way of dealing with this situation—Kassadin slapped Liam's handsome face several times in quick succession, swelling it and also awakening his will. He was completely stunned. After the ringing in his ears gradually subsided, his eyes regained their brilliance.

"Die, demon!" He jumped up, remembering the scene of his mother's tragic death, and finally knew what he should do.

He raised his sword, but where were the enemies? In this dilapidated room, besides the bloody corpses and burning flames, there was no trace of any demons.

"Where are the demons? Tell me, where did the demons go!" Liam roared at Kassadin, his eyes bloodshot and his expression extremely ferocious.

"They're gone," Kassadin replied calmly.

"Why, why didn't you stop them!" Liam was like a madman, his sword pointing directly at Kassadin, as if he were looking at a traitor.

Kassadin watched him silently, until Liam dropped his sword and let out a heart-wrenching cry. Queen Mia's bed was burning fiercely, like a solemn cremation.

Liam thought of his missing sister, his only sister, his last relative... Where was she? He frantically searched all the places that had not yet been ignited by the fire, calling out Tess's name, but received no response.

Ezreal had already taken Tess, as well as Crovan and other survivors, to the escape ship via cable and left the manor.

Liam slumped down outside the main gate of the manor. He had just erected two simple tombstones here. He used the tip of his sword to carve the words on them, the handwriting appearing messy and scrawled:

"Tomb of King Genn Greymane and Queen Mia Greymane of Gilneas"

"Tomb of Princess Tess Greymane of Gilneas"

There were no bodies of the three people under the tombstones. The entire Greymane Manor was burning fiercely, collapsing everywhere, burying all traces. They didn't need graves, this royal manor was the best grave.

Greymane's ancestors were buried in the resting place of Eldridge, a place west of Gilneas City. His father and mother should also have a resting place here after death, but... he could no longer obtain the bodies of the three.

His heart was filled with guilt, and he had no face to face them. He had no ability to protect anyone, and he was completely unable to resist the dreadlord's offensive.

'Do you want to avenge the demons?'

'Do you want to gain the power to kill demons?'

'Come find me!'

His mind was filled with this voice again, the same voice that had appeared once in the morning.

He also said: 'I am your heart...'

'Where are you?' Liam hurriedly asked in his heart.

'Look for the answer in your heart,' the voice replied.

Liam only felt a throbbing pain in his head, and some new things appeared in his mind:

In a certain cave, the spirit of the ice element guards a sharp sword frozen by ice, it floats quietly in the air, and the inscriptions on the sword emit a faint blue light.

'That's my sword,' the thought suddenly appeared in Liam's heart. He felt extremely natural, 'Get it, and I can defeat the demons!'

The second picture is in a world of ice and snow. Above the glacier fortress, there is a throne sealed in ice. A set of armor is sealed in the eternally unmelting ice, 'Put it on, and I will be invincible!'

Kassadin saw the young prince fall into a daze again, and he couldn't help but remind him: "It's time to go, Liam. Your people are waiting for you!"

"Yes, my people are waiting for me." He stood up, and he seemed to hear countless people chanting in unison:

"Our King Liam!"

"Our King Liam!"
