Raimon's idea might have been correct if there hadn't been a surprise attack from the New Alliance's legion from the rear. But he didn't know that the reinforcements he was expecting had already completely collapsed.
The demonic legion's advance was gradually being resisted, and the natives in Raimon's eyes stabilized their defense. Before long, they even began to organize small-scale raids and counterattacks!
Raimon noticed that the demons around him were becoming fewer and fewer—even though battlefield losses were rapid, their reinforcements were even faster, so why was this happening!
"Reinforcements! I want reinforcements! Where are my follow-up troops!" Raimon roared furiously.
Fewer and fewer demons emerged from the tunnel, and soon a demon guard familiar to Raimon brought news that couldn't be worse: "Great Commander, it's terrible! Our rear has been attacked!"
"What did you say!" Raimon stared incredulously at the demon guard, asking with a ferocious expression, "How many are they? What's the situation? Why aren't they rushing to support the front lines?"
He threw out a pile of questions, leaving his subordinate unsure how to answer.
The subordinate replied timidly, "Many, many… The natives are everywhere. The native creatures who surrendered to us were routed in a single charge, and then everyone else was routed too!"
Raimon's heart trembled, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "And then what? What are those natives doing now?"
"T-t-they…" The demon was intimidated by Raimon's gaze, and said tremblingly, "They've already rushed into the tunnel…"
"Worthless! Worthless! A bunch of worthless trash!" Raimon roared loudly, chopping off the demon's head with an axe. The splashing purple blood couldn't suppress the mania and unease in his heart.
Now, his legion couldn't even break through the enemies on the front lines, and the rear was under attack and surrounded. It looked like there was no way to go to heaven or earth. Unless Lord Archimonde suddenly descended, the only path waiting for him was death!
"Quick, mages! Go destroy the tunnel! Immediately!" Raimon loudly ordered the Eredar mages to act. If they were attacked from both sides, his legion would soon be defeated. It would be better to take advantage of the fact that the front lines could still fight, and attack this unit as much as possible. If they broke through the opponent's battle line, perhaps there would still be a chance to escape!
The Eredar mages followed Raimon's orders and completely destroyed the tunnel with magic. The degree of destruction was such that even mana mechs would need some time to clear it before they could dig through again. Raimon believed that his legion had avoided being attacked from both sides. So he ordered the legion to attack with all its might, determined to eliminate this group of natives who were playing tricks!
But this was just wishful thinking. Raimon couldn't get reinforcements, but the Alliance could get support.
After the aerial battle ended, the archmages on the airships began to join the battlefield, and the few mana mechs were destroyed one after another under their combined attacks. Without the unstoppable charge of the mana mechs, the demonic army was even more obstructed in its advance.
And the destroyed tunnel was reopened under the digging of Rek'Sai, the Void Burrower, and her Icathian Voidlings. The assassins who went to Silvermoon City to destroy the manaforge camp had just returned today, and they happened to arrive in time for this great battle!
The collapsed section was reopened by these void beasts at a speed even faster than the mana mechs could dig.
The New Alliance's army rushed out of the tunnel. This time, at the very front was Sejuani, the Winter's Wrath, and her tribe's boar riders.
"Charge! Leave no one alive!" Sejuani waved the flail forged from true ice, her voice colder than the unmelted snow on the Dan Morogh mountains. This place and the frozen soil of Northrend reminded her of her homeland, the Freljord, the environment was so similar.
The boar riders launched their charge one after another. The frost archers who followed quickly rushed to the battlefield, shooting the arrows in their hands at the almost defenseless demons.
More knights rushed out of the tunnel, and almost instantly, the Burning Legion fell into an absolute disadvantage.
Raimon's plan did not succeed. Although the front lines suffered heavy losses, under the Alliance warriors' sworn defense, their battle lines were still very solid.
Most of the Old Alliance's strongest troops had already sailed west, such as the paladins of the Silver Hand. Prince Arthas had also taken away the most elite troops of Lordaeron. The Kul Tiras army sailed west in its entirety, and the Stromgarde legion also crossed the sea under the command of Prince Galen.
This battle was able to withstand the pressure thanks to the Ironforge's Iron Legion fighting bravely and the strong technological support of Gnomeregan. If the New Alliance were to defend the position, it might be much easier. Because the elite troops of the New Alliance were basically in Dalaran, and troops could be transferred from the Los Angeles at any time. However, the task of the surprise attack was also very important. If they could not defeat the demons and their servant army in the first time and shatter their will to resist, they would not be able to achieve the final glorious victory.
Dozens of heroes of the New Alliance led a large army that emerged from the tunnel mouth in a steady stream. Just like the demons before—to the Burning Legion, they were the real demons.
Their morale was high and they were fearless. Each of the mixed-race coalition forces exerted a powerful combat power, defeating the demonic forces.
The demon commander Raimon saw that his legion was attacked from both sides and had collapsed, and could only let out an angry and unwilling roar. He saw that among the green-skinned orcs, there was an orc wearing black plate armor surrounded by a large group of elite warriors. He was directing the orcs to attack the weak links of the demonic legion.
"It's you!"
With the idea of pulling someone down to cushion his fall before he died, Raimon chose the orc holding the stone hammer as his final target, roaring and rushing over. The last elite demons left around him also followed him and rushed towards the orc.
"The demons are charging over!"
"Just what we wanted!"
"Kill them all!"
The orcs around Thrall had become fanatical because of the battle. Eitrigg and Varok Saurfang were eager to take revenge on the demons!
Raimon's target for the charge was Thrall. He could see that this orc had a high status but hadn't done much. Perhaps his combat power was not strong, and the hope of breaking through was great. Unlike the other leaders, such as Anasterian and Kael'thas Sunstrider, father and son, their killings were even more terrifying than the demons. Not to mention the new Lich King Kael'thas, demons fell in large numbers wherever he went.
But not fighting much doesn't mean he's not good at fighting. When Thrall saw the demon rushing over, he also drove his war wolf to counterattack, and prayed for the elemental spirits to help him.
Two wild spirit wolves suddenly emerged and rushed towards Raimon, followed by fire falling from the sky and a hurricane hindering the demon commander's advance.
Varok Saurfang rushed up with the orcs. Raimon finally broke free and rushed towards Thrall, only to find that the other party was fearless, raised the stone hammer and smashed it down.
The Doomhammer and the demon's great axe collided, making a crisp sound. This legendary stone hammer was still undamaged, but the great axe in Raimon's hand, which had once chopped off countless heads and broken countless weapons, was chipped with a huge gap.
The collision of stone and metal was actually the stone that was stronger!
Thrall's war wolf, Snowsong, was not just a mount. It opened its wolf mouth and bit the demon's ankle. The sharp fangs embedded in Raimon's tendons, and the severe pain made it difficult for him to maintain his balance.
Thrall smashed down with a hammer and shattered the guy's head.
Seeing Raimon's death, the Burning Legion did not have the slightest will to resist. The demons were defeated by the Alliance army's encirclement and suppression, and then annihilated.
The troops sent by Archimonde to destroy the refugee retreat and destroy Ironforge and Gnomeregan suffered a devastating blow without even seeing the gates of the dwarven capital.
For the Alliance, this was another glorious victory!
Now their retreat will no longer be hindered in any way.
This great battle took place when Archimonde had just entered Searing Gorge not long ago. However, their marching speed was very fast, and they would be able to reach their most important destination in at most three days—Blackrock Mountain!
Archimonde also sent Doom Lord Kazzak leading a group of demons into the Barrens. The demons who landed on this land told him that there was a Titan ruin here, with a group of crazy troggs.
Previously, the joint army of Ironforge and Gnomeregan was blocking the troggs' attack from the underground in Uldaman in the Barrens. Before the Northrend campaign began, they reclosed this place and transferred back most of their troops. When the Burning Legion arrived, they withdrew everyone.
The number of troggs was huge, and they were not so easy to eliminate. Their digging ability was very strong, and they reopened a small path not long after the dwarves left, coming out from the underground of Uldaman.
The demons who landed in the Barrens received this news and reported it to Archimonde. After considering it, Archimonde believed that this destructive and barbaric creature fully met the requirements of the Burning Legion.
What's more, this was a failed creation of the Titans—what the Titans hated was what the Burning Legion liked; what the Titans guarded was what the Burning Legion destroyed.
Even though Sargeras could no longer manage affairs, his successor Archimonde was still implementing this principle.
Since the troggs were something the Titans hated, he would of course include these guys under his command!
The burning army marched all the way towards Blackrock Mountain. This volcano was almost hollowed out, and a huge building complex was built inside. During the Second War, Alliance Commander Sir Lothar died here in a duel with Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer of the Horde. Afterwards, the paladin Turalyon picked up Lothar's broken sword, inherited his legacy, led the Alliance army to completely defeat the Horde, and captured Warchief Doomhammer.
This was a place worth remembering. Therefore, after the war ended, the Alliance built a huge statue of Sir Lothar in front of Blackrock Mountain. He raised his sword towards Blackrock Spire, as if calling on the Alliance army to charge.
But later, the remnants of the Blackrock orcs, under the command of the Rend brothers, reoccupied this place, and then the black dragon Nefarian controlled the orcs and became the true master of Blackrock Spire. It must be said that this was somewhat ironic.
Today, this magnificent fortress welcomed a group of guests.
Nefarian's sister Onyxia brought her new master to visit the master of Blackrock Spire, the son of Deathwing—Nefarian!
