Nightmare King

On the southern slopes of Mount Hyjal, the war between the Azeroth Alliance and the Nightmare Legion had fully erupted. More racial troops were thrown into the battlefield, with hundreds of casualties occurring every second.

Although this battlefield was vast, it could not accommodate hundreds of thousands of troops deploying simultaneously. As more and more Nightmare minions surged forth, the black tide gradually submerged the foremost defenders. And their master, the most terrifying existence within that black mist, followed closely behind.

The Nightmare Lord appeared amidst the Nightmare Legion, shrouded in rolling black mist. Its towering, hundred-meter-high form naturally carried a terrifying deterrent, causing everyone to suffocate.

"It's our turn," Aiden took a deep breath. The Nightmare Lord's true form had appeared, meaning it was time for them, the heroes, to step up.

"That's quite a big guy... but how do we fight it?" Captain Plank exclaimed. He looked at the curved blade and short gun in his hands, gesturing a few times. He probably wouldn't be able to cut it down in a hundred years, even if the Nightmare Lord stood there motionless.

"This is a battle between transcendents," Hecarim strode forward, glancing at the captain. "You should go and fight those Nightmare minions!"

The captain was speechless. But Hecarim was right; this was a battle between transcendents and super-giant monsters. Heroes without special means against nightmares, souls, and energy bodies were almost useless in such a situation.

Tyrande said, "Let our Ancient Tree Spirits go first!"

Aiden nodded in agreement.

The Night Elf army had a large number of Ancient Tree Wardens. As friends of nature, the Night Elves had gained the friendship of these ancient trees. Among all the Alliance troops, only these ancient trees possessed a size close to that of the Nightmare Lord.

"Launch a probing attack first, and find the Nightmare Lord's weakness!"

A dozen or so Elven Ancient Trees, ranging in height from a dozen to several dozen meters, charged forward, with "Deep Sea Titan" Nautilus among them, along with some Mountain Giants.

"Death Singer" Karthus began chanting spells in place, wanting to test what kind of effect his Annihilation spells would have on the Nightmare Lord.

The Mountain Giants were the first to attack. Just like the corrupted Mountain Giants in the Battle of Azshara, they stood on the ground, and their hands automatically condensed boulders with magical power. Then, with a violent throw, hundreds of boulders hurtled towards the Nightmare Lord.

The Nightmare Lord's size was too large, and the Mountain Giants' throws were very precise, so all of these boulders hit the target.

Hundreds of boulders all sank into the black mist, but this attack, enough to destroy weak city walls, did not stop Xavius's footsteps at all, and did not even elicit any response from him.

Aiden heard the sound of dense boulders landing behind Xavius after a second or two.

Kurdran's exclamation came from the sky: "Those stones passed through the black mist and fell behind!"

At this time, Karthus also completed his spellcasting, and an annihilation energy exploded above the Nightmare Lord. It hit the black mist, but soon, the black mist scattered by the exploding annihilation energy reassembled, seemingly unaffected.

"Is this your attack?" Xavius's deep, terrifying voice transmitted through the black mist to everyone's ears. "You don't even have the qualifications to tickle me!"

"It's immune to attacks?" Varian Wrynn exclaimed. If this was the case, then how could they possibly defeat the Nightmare Lord?

At this time, the Nightmare Lord had already reached the front line, the very place where the Paladins were fighting the Nightmare minions.

Uther was close, and he was the first to discover that the Mountain Giants' boulder attacks were ineffective, only hitting some of the Nightmare minions rushing up from behind. Seeing the Nightmare Lord rushing over, he opened the Holy Book, and a vast holy light enveloped him, making him look like the source of holy light itself.

"The Holy Light grants us strength!" Uther charged towards the Nightmare Lord, fiercely swinging the warhammer infused with holy light energy towards Xavius.

The shining holy light cut through the black mist, as if creating a hole in Xavius's body. Although this hole was quickly filled with more black mist, just like Karthus's annihilation energy attack just now, it still produced a slight effect.

It angered the Nightmare Lord!

"You tickled me, Paladin," Xavius conveyed his thoughts, and then dozens of twisted black tentacles spread out. These tentacles, between tangible and intangible, almost instantly bound Uther firmly.

"So I decided to 'gently' retaliate!"

"Uther!" Dathrohan was the closest, and he saw Uther being captured with his own eyes. In his anxiety, he rushed up, preparing to cut off those black tentacles to rescue his good brother.

But before he could pounce, suddenly more tentacles emerged from the black mist, binding Dathrohan as well.

The two of them were captured together!

"Become my servants!" Xavius, through the tentacles, prepared to infuse his nightmare power into the bodies of these two Paladins.

Just then, Liam arrived. The Sword of the Guardian of Order in his hand bloomed with dazzling light, preparing to cut off the tentacles and rescue the two captured Paladins.

How could Xavius allow his prey to be snatched away? He once again unleashed his tentacles, preparing to capture this reckless Paladin as well.

"You come join them too, little ant!" Xavius chuckled.

But before the tentacles spread to Liam's body, he had already swung his long sword, emitting a sharp holy light, cutting off all the tentacles that were preparing to bind him!

With two Paladins in a row falling victim, how could Liam not guard against Xavius's methods?

The severed tentacles turned into black mist and disappeared without a trace.

Xavius lost his hand for the first time, and he was immediately furious, preparing to properly punish this young Paladin. A thick, inextricable black mist erupted from his body, flying towards Liam like a black cannonball.

Liam's eyes caught a glimpse of Mograine rushing up to rescue Uther and Dathrohan, and he immediately charged back without fear, shouting: "The Holy Light will punish you, demon!"

The Holy Light-blooming divine sword slashed towards the black energy with an indomitable momentum.

Liam didn't know if he could destroy this ball of energy, but this was a duel of courage, and he could not retreat in front of the Nightmare Lord!

The Sword of the Guardian of Order emitted a crisp hum, as if it sensed Liam's courage, and it immediately returned with even stronger power.

"Boom!"

The collision of holy power and chaotic power produced a violent explosion. Liam cast a holy light shield on himself before the exploding energy could reach his body, dissipating its power.

At the same time, Mograine roared, the Ashbringer in his hand burning with blazing holy fire. He swung down fiercely, cleanly cutting off the black roots that bound the two Paladins!

Discovering that his prey had been rescued, Xavius was furious. These tiny insects dared to defy his will so much!

"Nightmare, devour you!"

The Nightmare Lord let out an angry roar, and a black tide, tens of meters high, appeared out of thin air, surging towards these Paladins!

Aiden felt it at this moment. He hurriedly used the Guardian's authority to grant everyone the ability to fly, dragging them into the air before they were submerged by the dark tide.

"That was close!" Mograine still had lingering fears. Just now, the black tide was only two body lengths away from him. The black tide pounced too fast, and he had no way to escape.

"You did well!" Aiden patted him on the shoulder. "Now leave it to us."

Just now, these Paladins proved with their actions that energy attacks were still effective against the Nightmare Lord, especially positive energy, which still had a certain lethality against the Nightmare Lord, who was the embodiment of nightmares.

"Everyone be careful, stay safe!" Aiden shouted, raising the silver-white Judgment burning with holy flames and slashing down. The holy flames splashed from the sword, completely covering the Nightmare Lord, burning away some of his black mist body.

In the distance, Tyrande opened the Bow of Elune in her hand, and an energy arrow emitting a silver moonlight condensed on the bowstring.

"Prepare to receive the wrath of the Moon Goddess, Xavius!" Tyrande's voice was as clear and cold as the bright moonlight. Xavius was a traitor to the Night Elves, and she had been at odds with this evil fellow for ten thousand years. Now was an even better opportunity to eliminate him!

The energy arrow shot out, drawing a brilliant trail in the air, heading straight for Xavius's head.

Havis felt the familiar moonlight energy. He opened a dark shield, trying to block it, but the arrow still penetrated the shield and disappeared into the black mist.

Havis grunted, and said with hatred: "Tyrande!"

Ignoring the attacks of others, he rushed towards his target with rolling black mist. In fact, the attacks of others had limited effect on him, and he was almost unscrupulous!

Energy attacks did have an effect on Havis, but even if everyone attacked desperately, the impact he received was still very limited. He looked almost the same as when he first appeared.

Havis laughed wildly and rushed towards Tyrande. This high priestess of the Moon Goddess was definitely one of the people he hated the most. Now that he had the strength to take revenge and the opportunity to do so, he would of course choose to solve this enemy first!

He still remembered the hatred from ten thousand years ago clearly!

Discovering that Havis was chasing after her, Tyrande naturally wouldn't stand still foolishly. She flew into the air and rushed towards the flank of the battlefield, preparing to lead the angry Havis to a place without ordinary soldiers.

If the battle broke out in place, the scattered energy alone would be enough to kill countless ordinary people. This was not what she wanted to see.

Although Tyrande already possessed the fastest speed in the dream, Havis was the same. As the embodiment of nightmare, he also possessed some strange and unpredictable abilities.

"Come back!" Havis released invisible energy, imprisoning Tyrande in mid-air and dragging her back.

Tyrande struggled to break free, but her strength alone was too weak for the Lord of Nightmares. Her body was uncontrollably flying towards Havis in the air.

At this moment, a black demon jumped out from the crowd. He spread his bat-shaped wings, flew between Havis and Tyrande, and then condensed fel flames between his hands, casting a spell to disrupt Havis's attempt.

Tyrande broke free from the restraint. She felt very familiar with this person's back. He had the long ears and signature violet skin of the night elves, but his bat-shaped wings, burning hooves, and curved demon horns looked so out of place with normal night elves.

She noticed the pair of green crescent blades in the other's hand and immediately couldn't help but exclaim: "Illidan!"

The demonized Illidan's shoulders trembled slightly. He slowly turned around and faced Tyrande.

"It really is you!" Tyrande saw his face and was finally able to truly confirm the other party's identity.

"It's me." Illidan looked at Tyrande. Although he couldn't see, he could sense her. In just a few months, his identity had undergone earth-shattering changes. This made him not know how to face Tyrande.

He knew very well that his appearance would almost be hated by everyone, but he didn't care. He only cared whether Tyrande would look at him with the same eyes as other ordinary people.

He was both expectant and afraid.

Tyrande heard Illidan admit his identity with her own ears. Her last trace of fantasy also disappeared. She couldn't help but say: "Why have you become like this! This is simply... a monster!"

"Monster?" Illidan only felt as if his heart had been hit hard, even when he was struck by Archimonde's strongest spell and was seriously injured and dying, he had never been in such pain.

His face was a little distorted, and he gritted his teeth and said: "Is that how you see me? Tyrande? I have always cared about you! Becoming like this is not what I wanted, but I believe that I have obtained the power to protect you! Just now was proof!"

The reason he was able to disrupt Havis's spell just now was because of the special nature of the fel flames. Illidan knew very well that if he had not been transformed by the fel energy, he would not have been able to stop Tyrande from being captured by Havis just now.

Tyrande wanted to argue, but at this moment, the Nightmare Lord's mocking voice came:

"Are you here... flirting?"

His spell had been disrupted again just now, which made him extremely angry. After breaking free from the obstruction of the other heroes, he came here again.

He saw Illidan, the younger brother of the person he hated the most.

"Very good, let's collect a little interest first!" The Nightmare Lord said in a gloomy voice.

On the other side, the mages were performing a complex ritual. Almost the most powerful group of spellcasters in Azeroth had gathered here. Including the Archmages of Dalaran, the former Guardian Aegwynn, and the mysterious necromancer Meryl Winterstorm!

The Archmages channeled magical energy into Aegwynn's body through the ritual, allowing her to cast a spell that was theoretically enough to severely damage the Nightmare Lord.

Meryl Winterstorm was also once a Guardian of Tirisfal. Thousands of years have passed, and he is still secretly guarding this world. He raised Medivh and Garona's son, the hybrid Med'an, and has been protecting him.

After moving to Kalimdor, they avoided Archimonde's devastation of the Eastern Kingdoms, but the ferocity of the Nightmare Crisis still greatly exceeded Meryl Winterstorm's expectations.

After receiving Aiden's call, he joined the Dreamland Allied Forces without hesitation.

Anyway, no one except Aegwynn knew him here.

However, at this time, neither he himself nor Aegwynn knew that Med'an was Aegwynn's grandson.

Meryl Winterstorm hid his identity and joined the magic ritual. He poured his terrifying energy into it, allowing Aegwynn to complete the spell faster.

A ball of violent energy condensed above Aegwynn, its surface flashing with lightning, and its terrifying power even distorted space. Aegwynn, in the center of the magic circle, had her silver hair flying, and she held up the energy ball as if she were a god controlling magic.

She had a feeling of returning to her peak, and the full and abundant energy was almost overflowing.

Aegwynn took a deep breath, controlled the energy ball with her mental power, and pushed it towards the Nightmare Lord's huge body.

"Scatter!" She shouted.

Seeing the terrifying energy ball flying over, all the heroes besieging the Nightmare Lord instantly scattered, giving it a passage.

At this time, Havis was preparing to deal with Illidan and Tyrande. He could feel the terrifying arcane and electromagnetic storm contained in the energy ball behind him.

Havis faced a choice: continue to hunt down Tyrande and Illidan, and he might be hit directly by the energy ball; if he gave up, he would not be able to avoid it completely.

But neither of these were his choices. He decided to use a more dangerous method that could solve all the troubles at once!

The black mist that formed Havis's body suddenly dissipated, revealing its original appearance inside - a terrifying strange tree made of black bones and pale soul energy. All its branches and tentacles brought up a thin black mist, suddenly shrouding everyone around.

Dark and deep thoughts were conveyed to Aiden and the other heroes:

"You will like my hospitality - I am very happy to see the extent to which the energy released by that group of stupid mages will destroy their own people!"

Terrifying power of despair enveloped and bound everyone, including Aiden. At this time, the super magic ball released by Aegwynn with the magical energy of hundreds of archmages had gone out of control and was crashing here.

This sudden change shocked everyone.

"God!" Aegwynn's pupils were filled with horror. As a spellcaster, she knew very well what kind of terrifying energy this magic ball possessed. The arcane energy and lightning it was about to explode could completely destroy a city!

Almost no one could withstand such an attack. That's why she chose this spell to deal with Havis.

But now it seemed that Havis was prepared to perish together with those besieged heroes!

No, not perish together. Havis was confident that he could survive the fierce explosion. Only those poor heroes who were entangled by his nightmare power would die.

Aiden was also entangled by the nightmare energy. He considered the predicament in front of him at the fastest speed in his life, and he only had one way to deal with it.

He raised the Staff of Time and unleashed his strongest power:

"Time - Stop!"
