"You have trespassed upon the domain of the gods! Mortals seeking to slay a god? Then I shall show you the true power of the God of Death!"
Yogg-Saron, seeing Aiden's actions, became incredibly enraged.
Now was the time for a desperate struggle; it had no other choice but to fight to the death.
Its heart was filled with despair. In tens of thousands of years, when had it ever encountered such dire straits?
Before, in its panicked flight, it had sought help from N'Zoth, even resorting to dire threats. The latter did propose a suggestion, but for Yogg-Saron, accepting that proposal was no better than being directly killed by these mortals.
As a special group, the Old Gods could increase their divine power not only by absorbing the power of flesh and blood but also, and more quickly, by devouring their own kind—which was why Yogg-Saron had initially wanted to unite with C'Thun to fight against N'Zoth.
The latter, as the most powerful Old God of Azeroth, naturally sought to increase its power further by targeting its weaker kin.
Now that Yogg-Saron's death was almost inevitable, N'Zoth's suggestion was for it to surrender its power and merge with N'Zoth, which meant willingly being devoured, with the promise that after the fusion, they would jointly control the original body and power belonging to N'Zoth.
Yogg-Saron had refused this proposition tens of thousands of years ago, so how could it possibly agree to it now?
If the devourer were someone like C'Thun, a trustworthy ally, it might have agreed under these circumstances. But not N'Zoth—this was the very being who had brought it to this sorry state. How could it willingly allow the other to devour it?
Jointly control the new body—that sounded nice, but Yogg-Saron was also an Old God. As the weaker party, such a fusion would effectively transfer its remaining power and memories into N'Zoth's body, while Yogg-Saron's own soul would completely disappear.
Without a soul, it would naturally cease to exist.
Ever since the failure of the plot to assassinate Aiden, Yogg-Saron's heart had been filled with unappeasable rage. After losing its heart, it attributed everything to N'Zoth's machinations.
In this situation, it couldn't help but recall the past conflicts between the Old Gods. Hearing N'Zoth shamelessly propose to "devour" it, Yogg-Saron's old and new hatreds erupted together, and it was completely reckless!
In its desperate and furious state, Yogg-Saron had only one intense thought: destruction, to destroy everything at any cost!
As a god, and a powerful Old God at that, if it didn't want to live, it wouldn't let anyone else live well either!
"This is the realm of the God of Death. A forbidden zone for all living beings and mortals!"
Yogg-Saron's voice became incredibly cold.
As people heard this voice, they saw all sorts of terrifying illusions appearing in the mist outside the barrier: twisted Faceless Ones, tragically dead giants, angry elemental creatures, and all kinds of intelligent species. All of them had ferocious faces, stiff movements, and howled as they lunged towards the barrier.
"T-these are illusions, right?" Brann swallowed hard. "These must be illusions—who would store other creatures in their brain?"
Logically speaking, his guess should have been correct. But the leading giant roared and slammed the warhammer in his hand heavily against the barrier.
"Bang!"
The sturdy barrier shook slightly.
"It's a real attack!" King Mimiron, the Creator, stared at the giant creatures. "These are like undead creatures—or rather, creatures controlled by Yogg-Saron."
"They are Yogg-Saron's evil minions, sealed away with it in the past," Thorim, the Storm King, said in a heavy tone. "I once accessed this information from the mainframe. Yogg-Saron's title is 'God of Death,' and it is very skilled at manipulating the will of other creatures, turning them into puppets completely without fear and utterly subservient to it."
"That's right, everyone should still remember the proto-dragons from tens of thousands of years ago, right?" Freya, the Life-Binder, looked specifically at the three Dragon Aspects. "Galakrond was controlled by Yogg-Saron's evil spells."
Tens of thousands of years ago, Galakrond, the "Father of Dragons," suddenly mutated and began hunting other proto-dragons. The proto-dragons it devoured made its body larger, and its body surface grew outgrowths of the limbs of those dragon corpses. It could even transform other proto-dragons into "zombie dragons"—undead creatures that could spread plagues.
Later, after the Lich King Ner'zhul came to Northrend, he was inspired by this and, combined with the knowledge taught by Kil'jaeden, created the Scourge plague that could turn living people into undead.
Because of this, Yogg-Saron was able to control the Lich King Arthas so easily. In the end, this true God of Death is the master of plagues and the undead!
"Are you saying that these undead are real?" Thrall asked.
"Yes."
The Dragon Aspects were chosen by the Keepers to become Dragon Aspects and received the Titans' blessing because they ended Galakrond. In fact, Thorim and the others had always been very clear about the Dragon Aspects' background, but the Dragon Aspects knew almost only some simple information about Tyr, the Order Keeper, and were almost completely unaware of the other Keepers.
Keepers generally could not interfere with the operation of the real world. They had to disguise themselves as ordinary people to enter the real world, and only Tyr left some reputation outside.
"Then what should we do?" Malfurion looked at the undead that were constantly impacting the defensive barrier, his amber eyes revealing deep worry.
He could see that, based on the barrier's defensive strength, it would be broken through by these undead before long.
It should be known that these enemies outside were not simple opponents. Giants were direct warriors of the Titan army, and being able to serve the Titans meant they were extraordinary.
In the war between the Titans and the Old Gods, these Storm Giants and Stone Giants suppressed all the elemental creature legions, which included several elemental lords.
The others would not be too weak either. The huge size of those elementals probably meant they were also powerhouses in their respective elemental planes.
Normal people would not store other things in their brains, but Old Gods were not normal creatures—especially Yogg-Saron, the God of Death, whose ability was reflected in this aspect!
"Hold on," Alexstrasza glanced at Aiden, who was focusing on casting spells. The scepter in his hand was shining, and the gem on his other hand was ready to unleash its power at any time. "Buy Aiden enough time—at all costs!"
"If Tyr were here, it would be great," Hodir, the Winter King, sighed.
"Hmm?"
"If all five Keepers were here, we could cast a unique spell that should be able to withstand the pressure," Hodir explained.
"The Order Keeper, he—" Prince Liam looked down at the sword in his hand. It was Tyr who reminded him of the danger at Ulduar, so he should be very clear about the situation inside. Since he didn't come, then either he couldn't come, or the time wasn't right!
"He was framed by Loken and lost his Keeper authority," Freya explained.
If Tyr hadn't acted quickly, the attack on Ulduar not long ago would have faced not only the five controlled Keepers—but all six—no, even worse.
If all the Keepers were controlled, then these tens of thousands of years would have been enough for Yogg-Saron to completely escape.
From this perspective, if Yogg-Saron could be eliminated, then Tyr would have made an indelible contribution!
Yogg-Saron's most powerful claws surged up: the giants' warhammers and spears, the Faceless Ones' tentacles and spells, and the elemental creatures' violent elemental bombardments. All sorts of tyrannical attacks descended on the barrier.
Even though the Dragon Aspects and Keepers were doing their best to maintain the integrity of the barrier, it was still teetering under the violent attacks and could be violently breached at any time.
The Celestial Bard emitted a series of pleasant musical sounds, and everyone who heard the sound instantly understood his idea:
'Go out and intercept these enemies!'
"I agree! This can also help the Keepers reduce the pressure of maintaining the barrier."
"Open the portal quickly, Bard. My sword can't wait to slay the enemies!"
This proposal was quickly implemented. Except for the Dragon Aspects and Keepers who were maintaining the barrier, everyone else went out from the portal created by Bard to face those huge and equally powerful undead directly.
Although Aiden didn't speak, he had been paying attention to the situation here.
In fact, when these powerful undead appeared, he hesitated whether to deal with these guys first.
The scepter and gem in his hand were undoubtedly very powerful, but they were not without their shortcomings, and it could even be said that the shortcomings were obvious—that was, they could only specify one model at a time.
This model could be as large as a planet or as small as dust, and its destructive power completely depended on the permissions and power of the model builder.
If he used it to specifically deal with these undead in front of him, Aiden might as well use the Silver Judgment. The efficiency would not be lower than using the Eye of Sargeras.
When Sargeras was still around, he used the Dark Titan's weapon to deal with enemies, rather than the scepter and gem he made, for the same reason.
In fact, when Sargeras created these two items, the main purpose of the scepter was to break most of the defensive barriers and means, while the gem was aimed at huge targets that were difficult to destroy by conventional means, such as castles, fortresses, and even continents.
Using them to deal with individual undead would be like using a cannon to kill mosquitoes.
"Let's trust our comrades!"
Aiden calmed his mind and concentrated on injecting energy into the scepter, first breaking through the defense mechanism inside Yogg-Saron's brain, and then using the gem to crush it!
As long as there was enough time, Yogg-Saron would definitely die!
