We spent every day after that together; we would talk about everything from why the seasons change to why humans were placed on earth to begin with. We formed a close friendship and everything seemed great; or so I thought."
"Hey…" Gast looks over to his friend talking to him. " I just realized all this time together and we haven't exchanged names." "Well to be fair I dont have one." Gast says. "What? Everyone has a name! Mine is Trevorousis for example." Gast looks at Trevorousis, pauses and then looks toward the skyline, which emits an orange hue as dusk draws to a close. "Why? Gast says softly. "Why… what?" Trevorousis says looking puzzled. "Why do things have a name? What is the point; every creature be it man, fish, bird or beast will one day perish, so why have an identity to become attached to?" Trevorousis stares at Gast, looking ever more puzzled then before and finally replies "For their memory." he pauses before continuing "and for everyone to have their own identity." "Identity?" Gast says, "What is identity?" "Identity is what makes creatures different from each other, and thereby special to each other." "So… it is what makes our being"? Gast asks. "Yes, something like that" Trevorousis answers. After a long pause, Gast replies "I see. I would very much like to one day have one then." Trevorousis smiles and gets to his feet, and reaches his hand out I promise, to help you find who you are; including your name my friend." Gast looks puzzled "go on dummy! Let's shake on it!" Trevorousis says. "But… my hand.." "Dont worry about it!" Trevorousis says with a friendly smile. After a pause Gast places his hand on Trevorousis's and as it phases through, Trevorousis's hand shakes up and down. "See? You are my friend, so it doesn't matter if you are a ghost, spirit, monster or anything else; we will always be friends."
"We remained friends for months and months, Trevorousis, despite being able to become extremely wealthy with my help, due to the fact I could scout valuable creatures and materialis, without risk, was content with a very simple life. "Trevorousis… I am very happy for you, truely." "Thank you my friend.. I honestly thought a man of my simple status and looks, could never wed any woman, let alone my beautiful new wife." "I attended his wedding, and eventually he told his wife, who was dubbed Ala, of my existence. That, I feel, was the greatest mistake I could have ever made."
"Ah… they are already asleep I see." Gast whispers as he floats into the wooden shack." "Hmm? That's odd.. Ala isn't in bed with Trevorousis." Gast pauses after pondering the thought. "I should find her and make sure everything is ok." Gast wanderers until he finds Ala unconscious in a monster's den deep in the nearby forest. "ALA!" Gast hovers over her, screaming as loud as he can, but to no avail. Suddenly a giant beast lumbers over towards the two of them. "No.. no.. NO! STAY BACK!" but the monster moves closer and closer towards Gast who stretches his arms wide. As the beast closes in on him, Gast exclaims "I WON'T LET YOU HARM HER!"
...…. "Wha..? my.. My hands?!" Suddenly Gast realizes the situation; "I must be.. controlling this beast somehow.." Gast looks behind him and sees Ala wide eyed with fear. Gast turns and rushes into the deep woods and disappears.
