Setting: Meihua Dormitory, Aozora City — Mid-college life
Tianxin's POV
By now, I wasn't a college newbie. I knew how to sneak snacks past the dorm warden, fake attention in boring lectures, and locate the best sugarcane juice stand within a 2km radius.
But this semester?
It hit different.
Because this time, I had Yuki, Mei, and Lan.
Yuki, the poetic neat-freak, always caught me in the act of sneaking instant noodles into class.
Mei, makeup magician and professional flirt, gave running commentary on my nonexistent love life.
Lan, the quiet genius who suddenly hit me with deep wisdom between manga reads.
Our dorm was a mix of hair dryers, late-night K-dramas, emotional ranting, and debates about whether Jiasheng was actually "cute" or just "annoyingly convenient."
(Answer: I said "annoying." Yuki said "conveniently cute." We didn't speak for an hour after that.)
🎉 The Night Market Incident
That weekend, we all went to a crowded night market. Jiasheng tagged along, claiming he was "supervising my chaos." Junxi bailed (some last-minute project), and Zhou Rui was busy on a video call from her new campus.
It was just me and him.
And chaos. As usual.
"Tianxin, don't touch that!"
"It's just fried squid. Not a bomb."
I ended up sipping a mysteriously fruity drink... that definitely wasn't just fruit juice.
💥 Ten Minutes Later
"HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED THE SKY IS JUST A HUGE BLUE BEDSHEET?"
"She's drunk," Jiasheng muttered, dragging me toward a quieter lane.
"Noooo, I'm free-spirited."
I climbed on his back without warning.
"Piggyback time! Go, loyal steed!"
"I'm not your Uber."
But he didn't let me fall. Not even when I kicked like a toddler mid-rant.
Then I whispered—
"You're always here, you know?"
"Huh?"
"Even when I hate you... you show up. And it makes me... not hate you."
He went quiet.
Then muttered, "You're just sugarcane drunk. You'll forget this by morning."
"I won't," I said, head on his shoulder.
"Even if I pretend I did."
📌 Back at Meihua Dorm
The girls saw him carry me in and instantly bombarded with:
"YOU GUYS KISSED??"
"Tell me everything!"
"He better not have dropped you, you're fragile!"
Jiasheng just dropped the bag of fried squid on my desk, rolled his eyes and said:
"Next time, leash her before we go out."
Then he left.
Mei: "Girl, your love story is a soap opera and I'm invested."
📞 Zhou Rui Update
Zhou Rui sent a long voice note.
"I miss your loud mouth, Tianxin. College's quiet without your nonsense."
"Junxi's been acting weirder than usual. I think he's hiding something."
He was.
We all knew what.
💭 Tianxin's Thoughts
"Love doesn't always arrive with fireworks.
Sometimes, it's a tired hoodie, a piggyback ride, and a boy who never lets you fall—even when you're acting like an idiot."
✨ Ending Note:
College isn't new.
But feelings?
They never get old.
