You're safe.

She had gone into a panic attack after he left. She was having seizures. The nurses injected her with something to calm her nerves. He needed to let her know that she was safe now. That no harm will come to her while in his care.

He usually never involved himself with any woman. Especially not one who had as much baggage as Cassandra did. He was never afraid of anything. He had grown up that way.

He would teach her that. Frederick Duckweed stood no chance.

They stabilized her. He was watching from outside the glass wall.

After an hour or so, she woke up. He went in to see her.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

She barely opened her eyes. All he could see were her long eyelashes.

"You never came back with the nurse". She struggled to say.

"You glitched faster than I could say 'Jack'".

A nurse came in with a tray of food and water. The bowl contained a healthy looking broth.

She was spoon fed by the attending nurse. After she had eaten, she looked much better.

"The only times I used to come to the hospital was for a tetanus shot or to see my gynaecologist. Who would have thought I would be here because of..." She trailed off.

He didn't want to push her. She was very loyal to her psychotic fiancee, but he needed her to know that she could trust him.

"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. All you should focus on is getting better". He said and held her hand.

"And what happens after I leave the hospital?" She asked in a hopeless voice.

"I'll fly you to portugal to start a new life there".

"And you think that I'd be safe there?" She asked.

"No one would be able to hurt you there".

"How are you so sure?"

"Just trust me". He said and heaved a long sigh.

"I do trust you. I would feel a lot safer if you came with me". She whispered.

He heard her.

"You know I can't. I have a life here. I can't just up and go. It's not like it's a vacation. We might be looking at permanent residency for you".

"I have a life here too, or I used to have a life. You're asking me to just throw all that away?"

"Just until we catch him. I've got people working around the clock to make sure that we catch him."

"What if they never do?"

"They will. But to do that, we need all the information we can get". He said, looking deep into her eyes.

"I can't help you with that, I'm sorry". She said, turning away.

"Why? He's trying to kill you".

"Because I still love him. I can't betray him. You probably don't know what it means to love someone that much". She said.

"You're right. I don't. What I do know is that you are not thinking clearly. We can get him help. Send him to a place for mentally unstable people." He said, trying to keep a cool head.

"I'm not going to Portugal". She said, jutting out her chin.

She was pouting like a little girl.

"If it's because you don't want to be alone, I can visit every week. I can even send your dad over to stay with you".

Her eyes widened at the mention of her dad.

"Don't involve him in any of this. He was a great fan of Fred's. I haven't spoken to him in months". She said, tears welling up in her eyes.

That was the first time that she acknowledged that her fiancee was the one trying to kill her. He had just pieced the information together, but she never said if he was wrong or right.

"Your dad would find out sooner or later. It's better you tell him yourself".

"And put him in danger? No way. He might even try to use my father to get to me. Wait. No. He wouldn't do that". She was saying, lost in thought.

" We can't put anything past him. He threatened to blow up a whole hospital".

"What?! When was this?"

"You should get some rest". He said, realizing that he had said too much.

He left the room.

Ross was reading a newspaper.

"How is she?" Ross asked, lowering the paper.

"Good. I'm starving. What's there to eat around here?" He asked.

"There's a restaurant around the corner. Would you like to eat there, Mr. Pole".

"I don't really have much of a choice. You stay here while I go check it out".

He entered the elevator. There was only a blonde lady dressed in a flowery dress inside.

She waved hello and he waved back. She seemed like a very lively person.

They reached the first floor and they both got off. She waved goodbye. He just nodded.

With his hands in his pocket, he strolled out of the hospital and down the road. There was a little flower shop. He decided he would buy a bouquet to brighten up Cassandra's room on his way back.

He found the restaurant Ross had mentionned. The name was Eastback. It was a small place but he was only interested in the food. A round faced girl with dirty blonde hair showed up.

"What would you like to order, Sir?" She asked, holding out a ball point pen and a clip board.

He picked up their menu. One portion was for vegans while almost everything in the other portion contained meat and cheese.

"I'll have a strawberry cheese cake and iced tea".

She left to attend to his order. He looked out the floor -to- ceiling window. Not much people were passing at that time of the day.

His order came. He was eating his food when his phone rang. It was a video call from his younger sister, Amanda.

"I thought you would not pick up. You hate video calls". She said.

He was already regretting answering the call.

"My birthday is just by the corner and I could not reach you. I had to call Katherine to get your new number. Mum said the same thing. If you want to change your number, you could at least tell your family about it". She queried.

"I had a security issue. My information was not safe". He tried to explain.

"So will you be able to make it?" She asked.

"I'm not sure but I'll send a gift if I can't". He said, staring into her pretty oval face.

He looked at his own face at the bottom right of the screen.

"Don't get me another huge teddy bear again". She was saying.

He wasn't listening.

There was a woman in a very short pink dress and black coat. She looked just like Cassandra.

It couldn't be. She was still in the hospital. He looked out in the window to get a better view. She was entering a cab.

Was that her?
